Hurricane Irma?

Update, I'm sorry to report that we have also rescheduled our plans to November. The saddest part was Disney was not very accommodating with this at all, with us booking under the free dining, Disney would only allow us to book on free dining days, so we're stuck pay $750+ to move our plans as well as $200+ thanks to SW. So we get to pay an additional $1K to delay our vacation. We can sleep though tonight knowing we aren't putting two children in the way of a Cat 5 hurricane or asking the CMs to take care of us during a hurricane, but shame on you Disney, even splitting the difference with us would have been great and kept us coming back, now...not so much..

That's terrible!! I would have to think long and hard about any return trips.

Why the $750?

I'm really sorry. This is what I am hoping to be able to do tomorrow, hopefully by then they will have issued an actual warning so I don't have to convince them to let me do it. As far as SW, I'm going to beg that they just give me points or future credit or something, I don't mind paying some difference I guess. I didn't buy a dining plan at all but I think my room rates were discounted and I assume I'll lose that too :( November is still pretty decent as far as crowds though, right? Of course I'm sure it might be different if a bunch of people rebook from now to then.... :'(

Will Disney issue an email or something to guests who are scheduled to arrive during the hurricane or will I have to check the website to see what's going on?

Bummer. What were the dates?

we were affected by Hurricane Harvey and our DW trip was the light at the end of the tunnel. not until the 20th so we don't have to move anything around unless DW suffers severe damage. if you can reschedule, please do. hurricanes are no fun and last week was the scariest time of my life. today was the first day back to work for 90% of Houston, that's 10 days after the hurricane. Highways are still closed and most of the city is still flooded. USPS, UPS and FedEx resumed today for the first time since 8/24. so if you're planning on shipping anything, look for another route. Grocery stores shelves are still empty due to trucks not being able to get through flooded areas. and on top of that, we are under curfew. i can't imagine going on vacation and there being a curfew.
Oh and Harvey was only a Category 3 hurricane, i can't imagine what a cat 5 would do.
praying for everyone in the path of Irma!

Hello - long time lurker, first time poster... Hubby and I are scheduled to fly on on the 15th from Boston. I know this is after the brunt of the storm, but do you all forsee any issues? Would you reschedule if you were us?

So what day would it be safe to be at Disney? Tuesday? My husband was all for going on Friday, but now I think he just wants us to be safe... I am trying to wait till tomorrow to start to worry, but if we can add a few days on the end of our trip and cancel the beginning of our trip, maybe I wouldn't worry too much...

Was the $200 from SW for changing your return flight?

if i cancel my trip, Disney better be accommodating and give me (and everyone else who cancelled) everything i reserved. it's simply not fair that i busted my butt to get certain dining reservations and FP+ and i can't get them back because i had to reschedule my trip because of a stupid hurricane. it's not like the hurricane is my fault...ugh rant over.

I'm travelling from Canada via Seattle to Orlando leaving on the 9th on the red eye arriving on the 10th until September 16th. I also have the MNSSHP ticket for Sunday. All I'm doing is keeping an eye on everything, I don't want to change/cancel anything until I know for sure I can't go. I'll wait until there are no penalties for cancelling / changing. I'm hoping for the best and I'm especially hoping that the damage is minimal wherever Irma decides to go.

Gas gouging has begun. My daughter (whose car we shipped from CT and just arrived this morning) just saw regular priced at $6 a gallon.

That's probably the Shell station, it's always that high. It's a complete rip off and most have the kids have been warned to stay away. Have her use the gas buddy app, it tells you the lowest prices in the area.

Yes, if she is talking about the gas station close to the DCP housing it is ALWAYS $6 a gallon. They are hoping to hook the internationals going to the outlet mall, hoping they don't notice since they pay so much where they live. Nothing to report.
