Hurricane Irma?

But I am pretty sure a lot of people went west to Tampa because Irma was supposed to make landfall on the east side, initially. Lots of people trying to make decisions they think are best for them. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, and all of your complaining does nothing to change things.
I'm definitely not faulting anyone already in Florida. Not even those who traveled to Florida before the path became clear. I know it's hard to leave for a variety of reasons. Heck, my husband's aunt is right outside the evacuation zone in Savannah right now (her house is in the mandatory evacuation zone, but she's hunkering down at a relatives vacant house in a voluntary area). We wish she'd leave altogether, but she won't/can't. What doesn't make sense is people who are still trying to arrive to WDW from places totally unaffected by hurricane (we'd probably try to go to WDW if it were a choice between there and somewhere else in FL), for an optional vacation, when they know Orlando is at a high probability of risk, the parks are closed for at least two days, and they'll be confined to their hotel.

Good question. The delay is impacting the tract for sure. It's why is pushing to the west, based on the updates I've seen this evening. When we left home this morning the tract had Irma coming north directly over is in Chattanooga. The last update I saw showed it west of us now. The info I've read has been unclear on what the shift means for impact on FL. It shows to means more wind and rain for us here.

Hey Angi -- do you think there a game next week? I'm not sure my beloved Gators will have power by then.

I had to run to Fort O today to get one of the last five switches we needed to get our generator to work and it was super busy. I think a lot of people in the Chattanooga Valley are getting worried.
Yeah. It's gonna be interesting. I told DH I want to fill our 2nd propane tank tomorrow. With our grill we can cook wanting in the freezer. Plus we have a propane pizza oven. We have a generator but it wine run much, we have it for the TV for tailgate

I just watched an 8:00 update on Irma and the Orlando area online at http://www.orlandosentinel.com/. I am in Texas and have a trip planned Sept 16-23 celebrating 50th anniversary...meeting kids and grandkids. The weatherman said Irma is stalled over Cuba and slowed to 7 mph and still tracking WNW which is good for Orlando taking it a little further West still...sustained winds should be 60mph.

I should have said sustained winds in the Orlando area of 60mph. 110 mph at Tampa..90 mph at Lakeland and 50 mph on East coast of Florida past Orlando

Last year during Matthew, Poly opened up and served breakfast pretty early - well before the advertised time that they had been reporting! They didn't send out a message to say things were open but we watched from some windows and could see people milling around and then coming back with Mickey waffles! For those of you there this time - definitely look out all of the windows in your building and also know that there is probably a ride out crew member in your area as well that can help!

I am sure this sounds crazy but our family experience at Poly during Matthew was probably one of our best Disney memories every...I still show the videos of the entertainment staff members being awesome (particularly Captain Hook and Smee dancing to Let it Go!).

Stay safe - but have fun too!!

DH and I talked about that. So much unknown today, that's for sure. You know they will not cancel this one lightly. Not are they going to give up the home game and play it in Knoxville. So if they can't play they'll have to make it up. That will mean they'll try very hard to play and only cancel if they absolutely have to. I don't guess we'll know anything till Irma gets her big butt moving and figures out where she plans to go. Hopefully Gainesville is undamaged and they can play

Spirit updated their site sometime today so that now my travel dates 9/12 & 9/13 are within the change with out fee and fare differences. But, always one of those, the site still wants to charge me to change. Anyone else having issues?

My son and I were taking a quick trip to go to the Halloween party because the airfare was so cheap. Our plans were made before the storm btw and I am willing to change my dates so how do I do that if they won't let me? Or is it divine intervention that we will be able to go as planned?

What are they forecasting for Knoxville? They made us go to Baton Rouge last year.

Rough couple of years to be a Gator. Not that I'm expecting sympathy

I thought I saw something that said most games are postponed until later in October. I know I saw something about the Miami v FSU game. Not sure about the Gators..

Knoxville is currently outside of the area sure to get any remnants of Irma.

I forgot about y'all having to go to Baton Rouge last year.

I know all 4 BCS FL schools had made a call about today's games. But I think they canceled all of those, no major opponent so no need to play them. Hadn't heard about next week yet. Can't imagine they'd make a call as Irma hasn't gotten to the state yet. Though I can see why Miami could go on and make the call. Not so much up north just yet

Are both you departure and return flights on the change window? Sometimes if they aren't that can screw with the online systems and you have to call

For us too. Thank goodness Matthew was not nearly as bad as predicted. We enjoyed an almost empty park the day Matthew came in, and then enjoyed a really nice "off" day when the parks were closed. I never would have taken the time to explore Pop and AoA otherwise. We were lucky. Hope to never have to worry about another hurricane there.

I'm an Indiana girl. Tornado warnings are commonplace. Hurricanes not so much!

Not happy to see Spirit now includes my date! For what it's worth, spoke to a DVC member services CM in Orlando (I specifically asked where she was) and she said they're aiming for a Tuesday opening. Did not recommend rescheduling as of today (I wouldn't say it's just because they want our money either because they already have it either way as members). Now I know there are many variables to that planned reopening date, obviously, but I appreciated the optimism and calm amongst the apocalyptic news cycle.

Since this last shift I'm righton the very outside right of the cone. So keeps this up and might not be too bad where I am (northeast atl)
