Hurricane Irma?

My SW flight for Tues was cancelled. I was able to reschedule for Thursday. Sat on hold with Disney for almost an hour. When I finally reached someone they told me to call back Tuesday and they were unable to process my changes until then?????....well I'm supposed to check in on Tues!? I just want to cancel the first 2 days...I hope this doesn't end badly!
I fly out Tuesday I was told by guest services I could call Tuesday morning and cancel or modify whatever I needed.

Will there be Red Cross collecting donations at MCO? I assume the airport would flag and remove unauthorized or fake charities. I'd love to donate any unused US cash I bring, but I'm worried about "fake" charities.

Red Cross is not the best choice for relief donations, and are under a lot of fire right now due to several reports of affected areas not getting the help they were supposed to from the Red Cross, and a large portion of donations going to the organization rather than those that are supposed to be helped. I would suggest searching for a local Florida based charity rather than the Red Cross.

First, and most importantly, praying everyone gets through the storm ok!
Question: Does anyone know if they would allow us in the parks this Saturday at the back end of our trip even with a Weekday-only Annual Pass since we are losing at least one day on the front end because of the storm? I was able to add a day of hotel so we stay until Saturday but not sure if that will actually give us more time in the parks.
TIA

Wow, the difference now is so dramatic. (TWC guy standing in landfall winds just got into the eye, so it just looks like a normal rainy day.)

Not too much wind damage, and he was in some of the worst of it.

Of course, storm surge yet to come, and a long night for all of of FL.

He was definitely ready for that break. Crazy!

Riding it out in Davenport, FL, the wind is starting to howl.... still have power (tempting fate!) and we've figured out the pecking order of perishable foods to eat if/when the power cuts out. Our Tuesday flight out has been cancelled and I haven't tried to rebook it yet, but I'm going to try soon.

Lots of thoughts to the people weathering the storm in Florida! Keeping my eye on the boards for updates, we fly out 9/18 on SW for our 10 day trip. Hoping for everyone's safety! Hugs from Pennsylvania.

Good luck!

Yes room keys will they are battery powered. Magic bands will work on doors but not much else.

The locks are battery operated but I don't know if they are self contained. Does the lock have to talk to the access computer via WiFi each time that the lock senses a ID device or only when the front desk updates the lock?

Our winter home is in Davenport and we wish you and all of our friends a safe night.

ATL was hammered by Opal. I lived there at the time. It was not fun.

I live in Georiga. I was at my due date with my oldest at that time and of course I went into labor during the Hurricane Opal. Took us 3 hours to get to the hospital which was normal only a half hour from our home at the time. It was horrible and scary.

So my oldest kid was born during Hurricane Opal.

On some networks more than others. I think most raw weather reports were just getting across the info they had. Storms shift and things change. And it isn't over yet for FL wrt storm surge, etc. in various areas.

I think it was more in reference to some of the "newer" (read: less than a week) DISers that were very vocal on this thread for the past week in an attempt to spread panic.

Regardless, I hope that Irma continues to lose intensity and that the recovery process goes smoothly for all those that have been impacted.
