wdwinfo's 8:00am ET Update:

Hurricane Irma has passed over the Orlando area, but with less impact than initially feared.

However, winds up to 43 mph and gusts up to 69 mph are still being reported near downtown Orlando. Hurricane force winds still extend outward up to 60 miles from the eye of the storm, with tropical force winds extending up to 415 miles. Irma is expected to be downgraded to a tropical storm this morning.

Nearly 60%, or 6 million, Florida homes and businesses across Florida are without power. In Central Florida, 750,000 were still without power as of this morning. That’s almost half of the homes and business in Central Florida.

A flood watch and curfew are still in effect until Monday event with another 2-4 inches of rain are expected today. Guests staying at Walt Disney World are advised to continue to honor the curfew.

Cinderella is still standing! I'm glad the damage is not terribly severe and that all of you guys staying down there are safe.

I read a fear based article on Newsweek last night about "what will happen is all four Disney Parks are destroyed by Irma?" :\ I'm one of the suckers who clicked that bait.

You'll be okay. My daughter lives in Davenport, right off of the 27 in Polk County. They've lost power but her house and all windows are still intact.

Her house has Hurricane-rated walls which I'm sure is standard at AKL. You are in a very safe place!

My family has rented a house in Davenport for this Thursdat.. Aldridge Lane. Wondering if shes close and when they expect power back and how they made out!?

Their subdivision off of Davenport Blvd. is still without power. Duke Energy provides the power for that area and the HOA is recommending all residents to call in to them.

Davenport is located between Haines City north to Clermont so it covers a huge area. Some in other areas of Davenport still have power.

Rumor is MK and Epcot I'll open as scheduled tomorrow. DHS and AK could see delayed openings. Jungle Cruise saw damage which means it likely won't open tomorrow.

The craziest part of this video to me is it appears that you could just walk into the park and down main street right now with nobody to stop you... I wonder how far you would get before security comes out and tackles you!
I thought the same thing. It is crazy that 1) this guy is wandering around and breaking curfew and 2) there is no one around to stop him!

I was that guy :rolleyes1

I had no clue there was a curfew- I was out walking around the contemporary where I'm staying- signs say to be careful and I was talking to staff while walking around outside. Then I thought "heck, let's see if the walkway is open"

I took lots of pics and both gates were closed as well as the entrance swing gates by ticket check. Stayed for maybe 20 mins just looking around and taking it in. Even sat on some benches thinking how eerie/apocalyptic it was. After I took all the pics I started walking back to the contemporary, made it across the street then realized I took no video. When else would I have that opportunity, right?
On my walk back, I saw two carts with a couple people in them that had just pulled up from the bus area and they were opening up the swing gates. I paused and waited thinking they'd tell me to go back to hotel. When I got back up there, I was expecting to see them and see if I could get some info from them, but they were gone and the 2 gates on each side were open.

I was literally the first person at the entrance this am and then the first person right after they got there- it was just after 7am and they were doing shift changes in hotel and light was just coming up. So assessments were just starting. I'm sure it's swarming with CMs and crews now.

You have NO idea how tempted I was to go run in there and snap a couple pics. Unlike the curfew, I knew I wasnt allowed in there :P A ban and/or trespassing arrest wasn't in the plans for me. Not worth it. I'll likely die regretting NOT doing it though. :)

Thanks for the video! You have a neat little story to share now. Glad you didn't risk the permanent ban though (even though it would've been awesome to see raw video of how the Magic Kingdom survived!!!)

We rode it Saturday morning on the Irrawaddy Irma. Literally saw the boat at the dock, ran up and yelled, "I want that one!" Sad to hear it's been damaged... I have a peculiar sense of humor and love that ride.

Crazy to see some of these pics and to hear reports. We jumped ship Saturday morning by renting a car and making the long drive back to Toronto after spending the week at All-Star Movies. It was lovely when we left and everything looked so normal. Really glad that the damage wasn't as bad as expected.

Most of the areas of Orlando without power are on the west side. Duke Energy is saying it could be a week or more

pretty cool pics and video. I think the curfew ended at 6 AM so looks like you were ok.
