Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I'm thinking about staying at Pop for the first time during Marathon Weekend in January. I have a question about the beds though. It's just me and DH going. On Pop's website it says the options are 2 double beds or 1 king bed. Is the king bed a request that you need to make and are they pretty good about honoring it? Getting a good night's rest before the race will be important for us.

Pop Century rooms are currently bring refurbished and the completed rooms now have 2 queen sized beds. One is a traditional styke bed and the second is a Murphy bed but with an identical queen mattress to the standard bed. There are currently 3 buildings that have been refurbished and I would anticipate 1 per 2 others will be completed by January. (Hoping more but not counting on it).

There are not a lot of rooms with a King sized bed at Pop. You can request one but they are not guaranteed.
I hope this helps you with your planning.

That does help, very much, thank you! Do you know which 3 buildings are currently refurbished with the queen beds?

Lol thanks!! You're sweet! Just enjoy helping my fellow DISers out!

We're off to enjoy a day at Niagara Falls today since we rescheduled this weeks Disney trip due to Irma. It's not °o° but also thankful to have a day off work today!!
Enjoy! I haven't been there since I was a tween. I keep wanting to take my kids. Thanks for the reminder.

We've stayed at Pop twice in the last 18 months and requested a king bed both times and received it both times, once when we reserved a standard room and once with a preferred room reservation. That was our only request, however. We really liked the resort, too. Now that the refurbished rooms will have 2 queens, we would probably request "a king bed or a refurbished room."

Just back and loooooved the new rooms. Can't say enough good things about the layout. The murphy bed was awesome, we closed it every morning to give us more living space. The materials they chose though, not so sure. Stayed very dirty the whole time. To the point that we had to wear our flip flops walking around the room because we didn't like the feeling of the dirt/dust under our feet. We did have housekeeping service and they did come. Also the white/grayish bathroom floor always looked dirty.

We were in building 9 in the 80's section. First time I stayed in that section. Looking forward to the other sections being done because 80's was not my favorite. It was a bit of a longish walk to classic hall through the resort so we mostly cut through the parking lot. We had a car so that was convenient, but I lost a lot of the fun and cool energy vibe (that I love so much) not walking through the resort.

I change my mind way too much. LOL

Decided to try Carribean Beach Resort for my one extra night. Cast member I spoke with says the feature pool is still open there and my son loves pool sliders. :)

Since its only 1 night was only a couple more dollars then my previous preferred pool view room at Pop.

Staying at POP in November. Question about the TVs. I'm staying with my mom who falls asleep to the TV every night. Do the TVs have a sleep setting and can you change the brightness? Trying to decide if I need to pack an eye mask for sleeping.

I also booked a bounce back at POP Dec 2018 for just my husband and I. This will be our first trip without the kids. It will be fun to see how the trip differs without teenagers. I wonder if we should request a King room or just keep the Murphy bed up and not worry about it. Decisions decisions lol

You will love it. We go all the time. We took my boyfriend son once with us and his girlfriend. We had fun but you are always trying to make sure they are having a good time. When it is just us both, we are more relaxed and taking our time with walking through the parks.

Question: I have noticed a bunch of people are taking the gift cards over mousekeeping. Is it worth it? I know I am being a bit spoiled because honestly, I am so use to mousekeeping being there all the time. It could be because I hate a mess. I pretty much enjoy having our room cleaned up. We never leave our room in that much of a mess (bed needing to be made, towels on the floor because we need new ones). What does everyone think?

I can't speak for the yet-to-be-renovated rooms, but the newly renovated rooms do have TVs with sleep settings. I don't think the brightness on those can be adjusted, but perhaps I'm thinking of another setting.

I'm with you, I like having the mousekeeping. But, I think it's a nice option for those who prefer the gift card

So far I'm really loving Pop and think it will be my new go too. We got a refurbished room in the 90s section. I noticed yesterday there were water droplets on the floor by the threshold separating the sink area and beds didn't think anything of it. Just figured it was from washing our hands. I put a towel over it, no biggie. This morning I realized the towel was soaked, weird. Then I happened to notice that there was water under the ironing board, which again I thought was weird. Tonight we came back to the room and more water everywhere. I called to report it cause I realized finally it was coming up under the new hardwood floor in between the cracks. They said if they had to move us they'd let us know.... we went to HS came back and I'm pretty sure maintaince never came :/ the same towels are on the floor soaked from the water coming up. Which I replaced with new towels. My husband noticed more water spots, as if the area is expanding. It doesn't bother me per say, just thought they'd be more proactive about water coming up due to the chance of mold. My husband is grouchy about wet socks however
I'd stop at the front desk personally. When you phone it seems everything now is being routed to off site call centre. There's no excuse for not sending someone all day. Disney standards are slipping. We just got back from a week stay at an off site hotel across from DL. I called maintenance and they were there in 5 min.

We are adults and don't leave a mess, but I'm on vacation!! I want mousekeeping! Don't want to make my own bed, and want dry towels cause we may come back to use pool and want another shower. Having housekeeping is expected while I'm on vacation anywhere. Doesn't make you spoiled.
