SURVIVOR 35 • Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers - "Come on in, guys!"

I stopped watching years ago...same stuff...different people. Seems they never learn from previous seasons.

But if you stopped watching years ago, how can you make a comment about what they learned from previous seasons? I feel like within the past 2 or 3 years there have been some significant changes in how people make/change alliances based on what they've seen work or not work in the past. Some of the seasons have certainly been better then others, but I do give the producers credit for trying new and different things to keep people guessing. It doesn't always work, but they try.

I agree -- they have really tried to toss it up and even shock the players during the season by throwing in obstacles and situations that they didn't plan on and weren't on prevoius episodes. The ones who drive me nuts are the ones who state over and over "I'm the biggest fan and have watched every season and know every move", and then they do the very predictable thing that they should know better about. This season seems to be full of players who don't know how to keep their mouth shut about having the idol or an advantage. In THAT case, I agree that they never learn from previous seasons that you should never tell anyone you have an idol.

I was bummed to see Desi go - she was amazing in the individual challenges so far and could have gone very far if she wasn't aligned with Joe. I like Dr. Mike - hoping he goes to the end. I also think Chrissy and Ryan are very smart players and wouldn't mind seeing them in a final three with Dr. Mike. It would be a tough decision to pick a winner at that point.

Oh, and I was also confused about how no one noticed there was one less vote with Lauren not voting.

And it's an entirely different game than the first seasons. I clearly remember watching Elisabeth Hasselbeck dwindle away to nothing. They were starving and out in the elements. Now they have shelters, cooking/firemaking equipment and food rewards galore. Now it's more strategy and manipulation and alliances. Anyway, I watched the early seasons and then stopped watching for awhile because I was busy raising little kids. But I started watching again with season 31 and was hooked so I went back with CBS All Access ( on my Roku) to binge watch past seasons. One of the best shows ever.

Sorry that's my opinion and since I watched plenty of seasons before I stopped watching the show I can say that I saw nothing but the same stuff season after season...different people...like I said. If you like the show then that's great but I stopped watching because of the reason I stated. I sure don't have to watch each and every season to have an opinion.

THIS -- it has been years since we have actually seen them struggle for anything. I will admit that there is the one team this year that somehow ran out of rice and were really struggling until that blessed merge saved them. Remember in Australia, their whole camp got wiped out by a flood and all their food and utensils were being washed away? I thought Australia and Africa were two of the toughest seasons.

I have always loved the reward challenges, but really miss the part of the game where they were given money and could bid on unseen items.

The auction....I miss that too.

Being a provider of fish used to be one of the big game strategies...

Yeah, I think they have stopped it all together. It was missing for a season here and there, but now I don't think they've done it for the past three seasons or more. Loved it when they got the family letters or video! And some of those food items were fun -- and some not so much. At least (thank goodness) they haven't had any of those challenges where they have to eat fried tarantulas and other assorted bugs and guts. :crazy2:

Yes, and it does seem they still do that. My family and I have always been against them allowing players to hunt the wild boar or birds or other wild animals on the island. I think that should be forbidden.

Yes the auction! I wish they’d bring that back.

I've noted this too, and I think two things are at play: 1) It's easy to sit on your sofa and say, "I'd do this" ... it's hard to do it when you're actually in the situation, people are watching you, etc. 2) They're going without food and so forth, and they're not always at their physical best.

Honestly, if I were going to be on Survivor, I would take fishing lessons and practice and practice and practice. Fish are a renewable resource. It seems like a logical strategy!

Yeah, Cole is not all that bright. And that Joe is one slick daddy. Slimey. Hope they get him out. Or he will win it.
Yes, Cole is stupid and a bad team player. I can't understand why he's still around.
Joe is beyond slimey ... but slimey just might win this whole thing.

That reward was gross. If I were first there I would have cut the pasta pile into 6 even sections and ate the smallest. That way the folks after would see I only ate my portion and then they could do the same easily with it sectioned off or they could be greedy and eat some of another section. And if I were Joe I might have done birthday boy then Chrissy then Little Ryan then JP and then big eater Cole. Might have been a little more left for Joe that way. I think Devon and Cole ate way more than their share. If I had gone near the end, I likely wouldn't have wanted to eat it...gross.
See, that seemed obvious to me too. Why didn't they agree among themselves that the first person would divide it into six equal portions?
And how about hiding that platter? Who would actually believe that the producers left spaghetti on a dishtowel?
As for finding things, how come it took soooo long for anyone to notice the rolled up paper in the nails?

Sorry I certainly didn't mean to offend you. I simply found it confusing to come on a thread about the current season of a show and complain about a show that you haven't watched for years. You are absolutely welcome to your opinion, and I imagine that plenty of people agree with you. I simply see the show and the alliances/strategies and twists and turns in a different light.

Did you ever watch the Ponderosa videos? Where they always used to get on the scale and see how much crazy amount of weight they had lost? And when they got the first look of themselves in a mirror?

I saw the Desi Ponderosa. She lost 7 pounds.

I was routing for Desi, I really thought she could go far, was bummed to see her voted out.

At the risk of being seen too much as a feminist - it frustrates me that on Survivor - often when there is a pair it is the female that gets voted out first and not the male. Happened 2 weeks in a row now with Jessica/Cole and then Desi/Joe.
