I love credit cards so much!

I don't know if I should post this here or in the disney gift card thread, so I am posting in both...

We are getting ready to go to disney in a couple weeks so I wanted to pick up disney gift cards here and there and max out the discover and chase freedom quarterly bonuses. So today at Sams I was told that I couldn't use a credit card (or gift card for that matter) to buy gift cards. They said it was a new policy. I spoke to the store manager and she confirmed the same. I was able to go to a different location right after that and didn't have any problems. Has anyone else experienced this?

Random stores will institute policies that disallow gift card purchases if you pay with a credit card. It doesn't seem to be a chain thing, more local management I think. My local grocery store did this last year. It doesn't usually reverse, the only thing you can do is find another store- exactly like you did!

You can order them online from Sams and use a credit card.

I received some wonderful DLR hotel recs from many members here and I cannot find the post again, now that I am wanting to read back through :( I haven't booked anything yet. Unlike when I used UR for WDW this past Sept, so many of the hotels that I find on UR do not have refundable rates (would have booked that waterpark Marriott by now if it did!).The Hyatts are coming up high, imo, on UR. So, I looked on Hyatt's site to see if there was rooms with award availability but nothing comes up?? Maybe I am doing it wrong...Wouldn't surprise me...Same for the IHG properties though the Indigo did have reward rooms recently.

Honestly, there are so many great choices around DLR and lots of options for redeeming points. I only have IHG and UR to use. I will have SPG in a few months but not many and I'd like to save those for the Swolphin :)

What are your DLR dates? I can't believe how many of us seem to be targeting the same timeframe. Hmm, sign it might be really busy??

I think our dates are shaping up to be 6/21-6/25 (or may shift slightly towards the end of the month depending on how the San Fran leg works out since we've planned nothing at this point other than flights and knowing we will be going to DLR and a couple MLB games lol).

I think the non refundable status of the UR options actually work in our favor for the time being in that it buys us more time since others like yourself aren't pulling the trigger yet

It does feel like everyone is headed out there doesn't it?? Haha. Though I think most have said there isn't ever a "slower" time out in DLR given the local attendance rate.

I'll have to check out Hyatt award availability one day at a time and see if I have any luck. Will let you know if I have better luck finding anything! Otherwise will probably go with SPG/Marriott or anything that may fit on the UR portal. Just two adults, so we can a bit more flexible in terms of distance I think. But I still want something nice lol.

And thanks @Lain for digging up the old discussion!!

On a separate note, just had the 1K cashback bonus post on the CapOne Spark Business! Thought I still had a little more to go on the spend, but it looks like the returns aren't factored in. Will still go over just in case, but bonus has posted and already been redeemed :yay: 1:1 redemption cashback but I won't say no to 1K in cold hard cash lol.

Maybe this is a silly question. But that Hyatt by DLR, that's 12k points a night. No extra fees on top of that, right?

That is awesome! Was it a targeted offer? I have only seen the $500 bonus.

I know we've talked about Google Express on this board before so I just had to share this. I ordered a book of 100 stamps from Costco last week with the 20% Google Express code. This is how they arrived today...

Thank goodness they were so well protected with the multiple plastic bags of air! Wouldn't want them to get damaged!:rotfl2:

Which Hyatt by DLR are you seeing? I'm seeing 3 Hyatt options. Forgive my ignorance lol.

It was and wasn't targeted I guess lol. Saw it through DOC back around Thanksgiving (https://www.doctorofcredit.com/capital-one-spark-cash-visa-business-card-1000-public-sign-bonus/) and he had mentioned it was likely to be short lived (and he was right, tried to apply for DH around the end of Dec and offer was dead), so I pulled the trigger. However, I also got a mailer around the same time and tried to have DH use it, but wasn't transferable

Also PSA for those who may be like myself and have overlooked or not bothered with card benefits in the past. Price protection is often widely used, so won't go into that, but I used the return protection feature twice in the last two months (phone for my home office and a headset for the phone, which both had issues after two months of use) and both claims were approved without much hassle after submitting a few documents (receipt, claim form, statement). Just bear in mind there are a number of excluded items. I filed one through Chase and the other Discover. Chase made me mail them the item, but Discover hasn't yet despite the claim being approved already. Will say Discover was a LOT smoother in terms of communication whereas Chase I had to call in twice to check on the status. But got a check for $50 and another for $148 coming in the mail! Unfortunate that Discover is ending this benefit soon. I heard Amex is even better when it comes to return protection :ssst:

I was planning to buy something, both were at the same price on Amazon and Walmart. I was trying to see which would be a better route when it comes to points. Amazon will give me 5x UR and 3x JetBlue. Walmart would give me 7x UR points. that's what I was thinking at the time. ended up getting the 7x UR as I think it's more value to me.
to get the extra JB points at amazon, I just need to click thru the link? Do I have to use my JB card to get the extra,or can I use another card?

My charge at Best Buy with Chase Pay on the Freedom posted today. 3000 UR points. I don’t even really need anymore gift cards right now but am sorely tempted to go back and use the deal on my FU and Reserve. Stupid part is when I used it the other day I did it wrong the first time and used the FU. I thought then deal was only on Freedom so sweet talked them into reversing the charge and doing it again with Freedom. I could have just let it go I guess!

I'm looking at the Hyatt House on the corner of Katella and Harbor. I never even thought to look into a Hyatt until someone mentioned it the other day!

Log into JetBlue, go to Partners, click through JetBlue's Amazon link, shop.

You can use any credit card or even Amazon gift card balance!

Well crap. I got the 30 day notice. I really need this card now to make the $5k spend. $7k in business income with 2 years in business and a low six figure for household. :(

Oh and 834 and 832 FICO. Double boo.

I'm exactly the same but 824 score for the Disney card. I called the auto line and it said they had nothing on file for me. I spoke with someone and she said it didn't go through and I should reapply because something must have been messed up. I reapplied and called back...still nothing on file and the lady this time said DON'T reapply. I have no clue whats going on and I'm now thinking I have two applications out for the same card.

Edit: Nevermind. I just called and they said 7-10 days for the first application and approved for the second application. I'm guessing that means the first was declined. Glad I didn't have to deal with a mess.

I've never stayed there before, but it's a pretty good location. It's right above a Walgreen's so you can get supplies at not too inflated prices. Across the street is the Marriott Springhill Suites with a CVS on the ground floor. Both are newer hotels built within the last 5 years or so. Both are very walkable (<~10 minutes) to Disneyland's eastern gate; once you get to bag check though... that's another story.

I'm not keeping up with all the BB info... which cards does this work on? (and I assume its the $300 limit)
