Pop Century Room Renovations

Ok the online request thingy isn't working at all for us, I've tried 4-5 times to choose either 70's or 80's as 1st/2nd choice, every time I check back it reverts to 60's as my 2nd choice and no 1st choice!!! so whens the best time to call,how far ahead?

You can call anytime from the day you book up until 4-5 days out. When within that time frame makes no difference.

What was disappointing?

Nothing in particular, I've stayed here twice and I'm just done with Values. As with everything there are positives and negatives, but this is a great place to stay overall. I opted out of housekeeping but they've still cleaned the room twice, not sure if it was a mistake or not but i am thankful.

My least favorite things about staying here is how far the bus stops from the parks are, and the food court choices. I'd prefer to stay somewhere with good food choices without having to travel.

The buses are often a long work for sure!

For people new to the thread and Pop resort, please know there are good food choices there. Just not things that @sweetpeakaris may have liked. Not saying you need to like them sweetpeakaris, I just want to let newbies know that each person has different preferences.

Agree @scrappinginontario. After all, Pop is a VALUE resort. With the recent renovation, to me it is a great bargain to stay at Pop.

Sorry if this has been answered before but I've skimmed through the 300 pages and haven't found the answer.
Do some refurb rooms still have a King bed?

The rooms that had a king layout will still have a king bed. Only the double bed rooms changed bed size/type to a queen with a queen Murphy

No. Expect decent cafeteria food mostly on par with your average park QS. It's not amazing, but it's not completely terrible either.

Not at all. I've eaten at the Pop food court many times (breakfast and dinner), and while it's not on par with a four star restaurant, all the things I had were fine. Maybe they just didn't have things that Pete liked, or maybe his taste is more for the four star restaurants. On the whole, Pop food court is very good for your average counter service meal. Don't forget to check out the Dole Whip now available there!

I don't generally read foodcourt reviews but we stay at Pop for two weeks every year and eat several meals at Pop. We've never had a bad meal and between Pop and Landscapes of Flavour at AofA, there is lots of variety.

It's been awhile now since we've been there (nearly 1 1/2 years! ) but I really enjoyed the food at Pop. They had a roast beef dinner with mashed potatoes that really hit the spot a few times.

This time next week I will be packing and anxiously awaiting the room ready text, don't even leave for airport until 3PM and arrival at MCO is estimated for 9:20PM - that day is going to see like forever, especially if the room assignment isn't what I was hoping for

Our flight doesn't land until 8pm, and I am really hoping the late arrival doesn't impact our room preferences... We requested lakeview 70s.

Your arrival time is not linked to your room assignment. Rooms are assigned a couple of days prior to arrival and where you are placed has nothing to do with what time you arrive at the resort.

I think part of it is knowing by the time we arrive physically at the resort chances of moving/requesting something else are slimmer as loads of other people have already arrived and checked in. December we arrived at 10AM and lucked out we were assigned a new room anyway.

I just figured out why our request wasn't going thru (duh) we made it thru a 3rd party travel site (our cc site) so that explains it! Will we have any luck at front desk,if we get assigned a non refurb room? Like we can just stop there and request a change if possible?

Nope I called,and that's how I figured it out I remembered that detail the second she mentioned it..... (I'm slow that way) if it's a 3rd party booking,and changes or requests have to be made thru them and not Disney

When are you arriving at Pop? At this point over 60% of the resort is refurbished and another 10% is currently closed for refurbishment which leaves you a less than 30% chance of getting a non-refurbished room. Hopefully those odds work in your favor or, you are able to request a refurbished room when you arrive if you're placed in one of the non-refurbished room.

Building 4 is not unoccupied, I'm here now in building 4, the whole backside wing is open and occupied. Also the Perferred pool view rooms in building 4 are very close to being open as some have papers no longer tapped to Windows. On the rooms facing the courtyard, they've been filling with furniture the last few days, and doing a lot of work, not long before all of building 4 will be complete.

Are you still there? If so, does it look like the they've opened the rest of building 4 yet? I'm assuming bringing in furniture would be almost the last step! I'm arriving on Tuesday (preferred room) and I'd love to be in that building! Thanks for your help!
