2018 Free Dining Watch Thread V3

We are going 11/12-11/17...I’d be happy with any discount at this point. Was hoping for FD but from the rumors I’ve heard November is pretty blacked out. Here’s hoping for at least a RO discount.

I know! Im trying to research, but cant find anything really about a RO discount. I'm hoping for news on it soon. Fingers crossed!!

Last year, RO discounts for those travel dates were as follows:

Travel dates: 10/8/17-12/24/17: 10%-20% off room-only rates for general public (blacked out weekends from 10/8-11/11, also 11/22-11/24) (also bookable as package)

Did the RO discounts drop the same day as FD?

I already have the reservation, I hope it works out so that I can just add the discount to my existing reservation. If I knew exactly which day they would come out I could ask off ahead of time. I will need a sick day to distress from the amount of time its going to take on the phone, or a vacation day to celebrate it getting the discount. I am being positive that I will get whichever discount I want!!! Is there any way to get this added online to my reservation without having to call in?

Hypothetically there should should be a "change/modify reservation" button that you can click on when FD gets released that will allow you to then go and add FD, just so long as it your existing ressie matches requirements for FD promo to be added. I say hypothetically just in case something happens and that button isn't available on drop day. Otherwise you could make a brand new reservation to ensure that you get what you want then wait a couple days for lines to calm down and call in to cancel your other reservation that doesn't have FD.

To those who have gone with FD in the past, does the food taste better knowing that it is "free"?
To my daughter it sure does! Some of us have to live on budgets. Our first trip we did not have dining, and had a meal budget. Many times she wanted an certain item to eat and we had to tell her no. Having the dining, we tell her she can have anything she wants on the menu or for snacks. Seeing the smile getting a root beer float with a mickey straw is well worth staying up all night watching for the offer.

I had no idea the RO discount (my backup) was so limited as to dates. That option is gone!

Did I miss a post with room discount dates? What makes you think they are so limited and that option is gone for you?

Did the RO discounts drop the same day as FD?

Room discounts available through the first week of Oct or so should be announced at the same time as FD, but dates after around Oct 8 will be announced in the summer.

I have 6 nights at pop. 4 days of park hopper tickets and the quick service dining plan all booked. Is there anything else I need to be ready.

Hi there, I am hoping for some guidance. We booked a reservation for the Wilderness Lodge Sept 6-12th with park hoppers in anticipation of hoping for the standard free dining. In reading all these posts, it seems that the Wilderness Lodge might be excluded. Which would totally be a bummer. In anticipation of the release drop of free dining, and wanting the free dining, is it feasible to make a separate reservation at a resort that is not expected to be excluded? And if we do that, would we loose current dining reservations? Thank you for any help. I'm in panic mode.

Joining in!! :earsgirl::earsboy: We have 8 nights planned for September 2-10 for our very first trip to WDW (being from UT we're veterans to Disneyland but never WDW) Really hoping to get the free dining. For anyone who has gotten it in the past, what did your night look like? Did you sleep at all? What time do you start checking?
