Official July 2018 Thread!

Last night we had 'Ohana for dinner. For a 30 second review, the food was amazing (not dry or overcooked), but we were definitely rushed. When I went to use my Tables in Wonderland card, the waiter stated, not asked, that he would put it on the card attached to the TIW card. As he started to walk away, I had to stop him to let him know I was paying cash for dinner. When he came back from applying the discount, he was 'apologetic' about assuming to use the card for dinner. I could tell he was under stress from what I can only assume is management pushing for higher numbers, but it did not excuse his behavior. I can honestly say that, even though the food was, as always, amazing, it will be a while before we return. 'Ohana has turned into a cookie cutter experience restaurant, unlike the unique and fun experiences I remember from even a year ago.

Sad to hear that about ‘Ohana, especially since that seems to be a report that’s occurring more frequently. We went to ‘Ohana two years ago and loved it. Hoping to return next year. I would not be happy to be rushed the way you were. Hopefully they’ll hear the feedback and make some adjustments.

I was hearing that too, but didn't believe it. It would be nice. :)

Yesterday, we were lucky enough to get a California Grill reservation right before HEA. I know this is one of the pricier restaurants on property, but if you can, I would highly suggest going. HEA was awesome from the top of the Contemporary, especially from a new perspective. The music is played so it matches with the fireworks. One major positive is that your not fighting for space, like you do on Main Street. We stood with maybe 50+ other people and watched from the observation deck. No one was bumping or pushing their way through. Great experience!

We stayed at the Contemporary on our last trip in 2015, and we dined at Cali Grill too. A CM advised us to stand on the left observation deck, so we were able to see the Frozen fireworks show at HS on our left, then immediately after that, the MK fireworks began. It was the highlight of our vacation. We have reservations for our upcoming trip as well.

We’ve stayed at BLT twice, but never dined at any restaurant at the Contemporary! We always hopped on the monorail and ate at Grand Floridian or Polynesian. We’re hoping to return to the Contemporary next year and may have to actually eat there for once.

Enjoy Animal Kingdom!

Cali Grill is my DH's favorite Disney restaurant. We go just about every trip. We also discovered the Sunday brunch 2 years ago. That is to die for!! I can't justify the price of that for brunch but it's my DH's favorite meal so we've been a few times. Just in case you may not know this- No matter what time your ressie is you can come back to watch the fireworks. You just have to show your receipt.
How was your meal?
It really is a great experience!! I always recommend it to people I know.
I haven't been able to score a ressie yet, but a get a lot of hard to get ones a day or two before when people have to cancel.
We also have Ohana next week, and I have noticed what you said the last time we were there. So sad!! It is delicious though.

Let us know how the standby line was. Have fun!!
We leave in 3 days I can't wait!!!
Yea... FOP didnt happen. LOL at 8:45, I think the standby line was over 90 min or so. We ended up doing EE, Kali, and Kilimanjaro Safari. We did do the jungle trek, the tiger cubs were out and adorable.

Our meal was outstanding. I had the black grouper and Jenn had pork tenderloin. Simply delicious. Definitely keep trying. :)

I'm off to nap or the pool for the time being while Jenn heads to the salon. There will be tons of pictures of tonight's dinner.

I wanted to put this out there before I literally fall asleep sitting in the chair... Tonights dining review its going to take a day or two to compile. Words can not accurately describe how unbelievable it was... (not to spoil anything, but it was amazing). Good night all!!! Safe travels to those coming down! Tomorrow is HS day for us so SDD is on the menu (must stop food puns) so I'll, if able update on TSL. Night!

The mermaid pedi I'm getting right now smells like the water scene in FoP. I'm. In. Heaven. 4 days till we leave for the World!!
