'This is a whitewash of justice'

Maybe that reference is regarding how they have been spending tremendous amounts of time and effort trying so hard to find other things that just are not there?
Having said that... I am not devoid of all faith.
At this point, with the State Prosecution being what it is...
It really is the only hope of any justice or acceptable outcome.

Having said what exactly?

Interesting!
But, I don't know how much clout these two really have?
One of them worked in the DA's office until a month ago and may have been privy to more than most.

The other is a retired judge.

The Association of Police Chiefs is behind them. They said this isn't the only issue they've have with Foxx.

There is a new mayor coming in next month, how she'll handle it remains to be seen.

There is still the matter of the $130,000 for police OT that Smollett's refusing to pay and now they're arguing about.

Basically, it's a cluster. But apparently, far from over!

My suspicion is that Jussie has some severe mental problems, and needs some form of institutionalized rehabilitation.

The consequences I would like to see for him would be some form of house arrest and having to pay full restitution to the city of Chicago. His career is already over.

Also, I'm still trying to figure out *WHO* on the Chicago PD made the boneheaded decision to assign TWELVE SEPARATE DETECTIVES to Jussie's case (back when they'd perceived him to be the victim, initially), in the first place???? Why is THAT person not being held accountable, as well?

I'm adamantly opposed to prison time for Jussie Smollett. He hasn't shown himself to be a violent offender, so it would serve no practical purpose insofar as "protecting" society from him. And it would only exacerbate demeaning rhetoric against the LGBT community (particularly against gay males) by prompting endless prison rape "jokes" at Smollett's expense.

In the era of #MeToo and renewed attacks on the LGBT community, handing the "comedians" such fodder on a silver platter would be utterly disgusting!

I disagree. I'd feel the same way for anyone who tried to start a race or sex war. That's basically what he did. We have enough problems in this country without false claims. People who have real claims will now be taken less seriously. He's the problem not the cure. We need a cure. The fact that he's a celebrity shouldn't matter.

So it isn't the "comedians" behavior that is utterly disgusting it's those handing out the punishment because it will prompt all kinds of jokes?
Alrighty then. :faint:

I would like to see him behind bars.
He committed a hate crime.
That simple.

And, no, I would not assume that his career is over.
Quite the opposite.
The entertainment and Hollywood world will embrace him.

The number of Officers assigned to a particular case is always determined by the Commanding Officer after that person has been given all of the pertinent data collected during the initial investigation.
In the case of this hoax it was apparently determined that a given number of officers, I don't know if it was twelve or not, would be needed to make all of the necessary inquires, interviews, observations, and paperwork happen in a timely manner.
Given the "status" of the initial complainant and the subsequent demands for "justice" by persons in the entertainment industry, who really need to keep their worthless traps shut until the facts are known in cases such as this one, the Lead Investigator obviously believed that this incident warranted putting a significant number of Officers on the case in order to resolve it quickly and satisfy the dip sticks who were screaming for the heads of the two "white" assailants.
Mr. Smullet deserves whatever evil befalls him because he tried to use his race to further his not so brilliant career at the expense of others.

What I'm saying is that whoever was the Lead Investigator making that decision needs to be held accountable for giving Jussie "celebrity privilege." They showed an obvious lack of judgment, but it seems their fellow cops are covering up for them.

I honestly don't think Jussie will have much of a career, going forward. I believe he should be punished with house arrest and having to pay heavy restitution to the city of Chicago.

I DO NOT see how sending Mr. Smollett to prison to be raped is in any way a form of "justice." The punishment doesn't fit the crime, and it does a disservice to all of us who are actual survivors.

No, it's both.

The comedians need to be boycotted for using "humor" to shame Smollett at the expense of sexually-exploited people, and whichever judge sentences him needs to be called out and shamed if he/she doles out a punishment to Smollett that doesn't fit the crime.
