I know the standard wisdom is to have everyone signed in to the same MDE account. Has anyone tried it from different accounts? What was your experience?
Wife and I both have separate accounts. We both tried, I got in first, therefore she could not since I added her to my BG. Not sure what you're hoping to learn from your question, maybe I misunderstood
 
practicing at home again, first time the entire thing glitched. No clickable red button, no clickable blue button after hitting my status, no clickable button after refreshing. Had to force close the app, then it worked fine but it was already in back up groups. Never had any issues like this before :scared:

This is exactly what happened to me, although I closed and restarted the app quickly enough to get to the Not So Fast screen by 8:00:40 without getting the backup group pop up. I then was able to close the app and go through the process several times before the backup groups stopped at about 8:05.

On a few attempts, after entering the boarding group, I got the message about having trouble connecting. I had to hit the retry button there (some times more than once) to get to the Not So Fast screen.

Two straight days of less than smooth sailing through the process.
 
I know a lot of people talk about pushing "Find Out More" right at 8:00:00 but I have had unbelievable success (all practice not actual) pushing "Find Out More" at 8:00:02 in fact the only time I had to use the "My Status" button because "Join Boarding Groups" was not red was the time I pushed "Find Out More" around 8:00:00-8:00:01

Obviously individual results vary. When I practice I usually hit the AT AT picture right at 8:00:00 and never get the red button and hit My Status and go from there. One time I waited for 5 seconds after 8:00:00 and still didn’t get the red button and had to go to My Status.
 
Regarding Disney time (which is not atomic time as current atomic time is 37 seconds ahead of UT time), almost all computer and smartphones synchronize from one universal time server. That is why when you look at your computer time and your smartphone and your smartwatch they are all changing at the same time.

I realized that Disney time was slightly different. Or else there is a slight lag between when the time changes and the backend software recognizes the time window is open. This happened when I made 60 day fastpass selections. There was about a 3 second lag. This also seems to happen with Southwest Airlines 24 hour checkin. It is not right on the dot. Let the time change and then count 1001..1002..1003. Speculation but it happens for a variety of time-based online systems so there is time window lag in real world applications.
 
Do you think they will keep the boarding groups or at some point change to FP?
They will change to standby ands fo once the attraction is more reliable, we don't know when that will be

Probably took longer because it was glitching for so many. :)
It's had 2 days of great performance, they're upping the capacity, which is why bg lasted longer today

Very true. OFFICIAL U.S. time, which almost all computers will sync to (or will sync to a computer that does) is from NIST and is on their web page here: https://www.time.gov/

My phone's own clock was right on the money. It may help to reboot your phone sometime earlier in the day if you believe it is not in sync.
 
Has anyone had any luck with taking screenshots of error messages of MDE boarding group issues right after park opening and then talking to a GET who has pity and gives your family a boarding group anyway?
 
I guess I should throw my ways for reference too. I have an android if that matters, but last 2 times I've gotten BG 2 and 5. Basically what I've been doing is at 7:59:30, I open the app, hit find out more, if it's not red, I close down the app completely, and repeat the process. The app opens very quick for me so I'm not really losing the time. The one time I tried to hit find out more than just back out to main screen, I couldn't get it red until backups.
 
I think the weather this morning could play a small part in groups lasting longer. Cold and windy from what I hear. 5 minutes would indicate that there weren’t enough people physically in the park to scoop up all BGs at 8am.

Of course they could also have released more BGs today so who really knows the exact factors at play.

I honestly don't think the weather has anything to do with it, it's cooler but it's not horrible conditions. I'm pretty sure they upped the capacity from the 2 good days we've had in a row
