I love credit cards so much! v3.0 (see first page for add'l details)

I just realized the flights we am supposed to be taking back from our cancelled NYC trip had a 3 hour flight change. Yay! I'm pretty sure that qualifies for a refund even if the change was made ages ago and I didn't really notice. However, that one was paid with Amex MR credit card points. I am curious to see if it gets credited back to the card and Amex leaves it as a statement credit or if they will convert it back MR points once it is credited back. I haven't looked for any DPs on that. A statement credit would be nice since I am now part of camp furloughed. But, points are fine too.
Would this be similar to your flight redemption?

And sorry to hear about the furlough. Hope it's short. :(

Yeah that does sound about the same. Thanks for sharing that!

Thank you. Actually, I'm ok with the furlough. Everything happens for a reason I'm over 50 with asthma. I'm quite happy not to have leave the house and be in front of people teaching right now. It's an adjustment to be sure. Once I saw what was happening in China back in January, the writing was on the wall and I knew I'd be looking at lay off or furlough while we ride out the pandemic. Pretty sure I will be recalled once things start returning to some semblance of normal.

Interesting that there is another 40,000 piece Disney puzzle. This is the one I was looking at:

485722

We buy a bunch of the Ravenburger Disney ones from B&N and Amazon. Amazon had a ton in stock a few days ago when I looked. Are they sold out already?? Crazy! We're doing a Thomas Kincade Disney one now. It's only 750 pieces but those are so hard that I swear they feel like 5000 pieces lol.

Amazon has very little Ravensburger (our favorite also) that is not third-party sellers that I can see. And agree that the Thomas Kincade puzzles are extra hard.

Thanks!

My friends have that 40,000 piece Disney puzzle. Each section is very big at over 4,000 pieces. You need a large dedicated space to work on it. They happened to have their dining room that had not been furnished yet. They kept the puzzle on a large cardboard and the pieces on another board and worked on the floor. When they finally got dining furniture I don't think they ever worked on it again. I like puzzles but I would NEVER want that thing. It was stress inducing. They did finish maybe 3 of the panels but the whole thing will never be finished for multiple reasons.

I appreciate these observations. This is why I hesitated in December--do we have enough space? Patience? Would we really ever finish it? My thinking now is that I would look at it as separate puzzles, and not with the idea that the whole thing has to be completed together.

Five seems reasonable and it seems like your DS knows what he wants:)

On a non-puzzle topic, I will add that in some situations, a $100 application can be a great investment in the possibility of merit aid. Granted, this probably doesn't apply to most engineering schools which I think are usually found at large universities, but for those looking at liberal arts colleges, the awarding of financial aid can vary wildly from school to school (even those that you think would be comparable in terms of competitiveness). Having steered four kids through the college application process, every successive kid applied to more schools, because of the variances in merit aid packages. Yes, it was hard to get over the initial cost but it was worth it to have the additional options when they had to make a final decision.

We really liked Onward. Maybe not the best Disney movie ever, but definitely worth watching if you have Disney +

We watched this last night and all really enjoyed it. I went in without high expectations but was really pleasantly surprised.

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. Thank you to all the healthcare, delivery, grocery, and other essential and frontline workers. I can't do much more than say thank you and keep my butt at home. We've been hunkered down since 3/13 here in Michigan (thankfully DH and I both have jobs that allow full time WFH) and are adapting to the new normal. Currently watching Bedknobs and Broomsticks with DD and she's loving it which makes me so happy, one of my favorites.

Seriously, I need you guys to keep me sane.
Me too! I can’t stop crying today! I am an emotional wreck at the moment. I love teleworking but not so much with DS trying to do online school and driving me crazy and DH teleworking too. Not being able to escape the house. All of the canceled vacations and pretty sure my perfect 20th anniversary trip to return to Australia will be canceled for Aug. I am just over it!

That was me last Sunday, I cried at every little thing, all day long.

DS’s school ”was” really big on good handshakes, I would if we ever get back to that and human decency. The social distancing makes me feel paranoid And as if we don’t care about one another anymore. I was at the grocery store and cashier as apparently seen DS growing up since she frequents the same restaurants we do. But I just wanted to fly out of the store in fear I might get contaminated. I kept thinking how can I end this chit chat. It is really sad state when we can‘t just have a simple conversation.

I've been having conversations with people. You are choosing to live in fear. You can be careful about this and not be afraid at the same time.

A friend shared this link with me for a no-sew option. It's even easier than the last one I posted about.

http://blog.japanesecreations.com/no-sew-face-mask-with-handkerchief-and-hair-tie

We don’t have hair ties but we have rubber bands so might try this.

Just saw that on a national news broadcast (which I'm afraid to name, now), but using rubber bands. I thought the hair ties (which I don't have) and sock elastic was an improvement. Easier on the ears, I figure. Thanks!

Definitely would want to do each panel separate. They come separated in bags. But 4000 pieces is pretty big itself. I couldn’t find the dimensions but below i found a pic of someone with it for comparison of size. You need a place that can hold the puzzle and plus more space for the pieces. And a spot to store completed panels. And if you are going to display it you need a very large wall with nothing else there. My friend had the one you posted. I know they finished Peter Pan and Snow White but not sure if they did more.

I’ve noticed that people around here seem nicer and friendlier...saying Hi as DH and I are walking etc..which always happened in FL, but not in NY

That looks like it's longer than a value room 😂 Who has a wall that big? Or the time to do all those pieces, that thing is huge.
