Anyone Cancelling?

I’m getting tired of the go to line of “reduced experience for full price”. There will be changes, they have told you so, and so far the only major one that “everyone” tends to do is fireworks. They haven’t talked about rides or shutting things down, until they do people need to relax. The atmosphere is still Disney and the rides will still be functioning (until told otherwise) please stop acting like Disney is ripping you off. If those things that are being eliminated for now are important to you, please wait until they return and attend then.
Actually it’s a lot more than just fireworks. It’s also parades, character meet and greets, character dining, and park hopping that we know of so far, and likely more to come. So not sure how anyone can argue that it’s not a reduced experience. But I agree there will be plenty of people still willing to pay, and they won’t have trouble meeting their very limited initial capacity.

I literally said “There will be changes, they have told you so” not sure why you listed exactly what I implied. There as been no word on Park Hopping so you can not say it is cancelled.

I honestly don’t know what to do. We were originally booked May 13-20, then around mid-April I moved us to June 23-30. ((AP room only rate at the yacht club, rebooked all our dining reservations, made new fastpasses, changed flights, etc)) Then, unbelievable as it sounds, the day before WDW announced they were canceling June reservations I had a weird hunch and moved us to August 11-18. Still at the yacht club but without our AP rate. I just had a feeling June wasn’t going to happen.

So it seems Disney might offer us a discount on our August room? From what I’m reading here on the DIS. We didn’t have a free dining offer or discount. So it would be nice to save some on the room. But my AP has never been used so I don’t know if I want to break it in for one week in August knowing that it might be the only chance I’ll have to use it. Talk about wasted money. :(

The kids also have APs but they used theirs in January so they’ll take the extension I guess? I don’t know.

My main concern right now is can we even get reservations for the park days we want. Otherwise there’s really no point in going. Also can I get a refund on an unused AP? I guess the airfare would just be lost.

Still just as confused and undecided after typing all this.
From everything Disney has put out the only ppl. that will get a discount is those that were booked with free dining. The discount won't cover what they lost with the free dining, but I have seen no indication that Disney will be providing anyone else with new discounts.

Actually, one of the mods has posted that a TA friend has already been notified by Disney that park hopping will be refunded for tickets that have already been purchased. That’s a pretty good indication that it will not be permitted, at least in the initial phases.

Because you also implied fireworks are the only thing most people care about :confused3
All I’m saying is that it IS a reduced experience no matter how you look at it, and it’s up to each individual to decide if they are willing to pay for that experience.

I have a trip booked for before Thanksgiving and it appears I will be canceling as well. Way too much uncertainty for me to feel comfortable with paying that kind of money for it. I also have airline reservations so I will have to contend with that as well. Second year in a row I have tried to plan a DW trip, last year the hurricane that wasn’t canceled flights for me. My ADRs are already being canceled and with no discounts on my booking with such a steep drop off of experience, I just don’t think it is worth the money. I am still holding out hope but paying full price for anything that is reduced, is never worth it to me.

Out of state AP holder- we will be in Orlando in August to drop freshman off at UCF. Planned on several days at Disney- staying offsite for most part (with a couple days at Contemporary) and MNSSHP. Will still be there in August but the Disney days are up in air. September trip for HHN still on, hadn’t booked the the 2nd half yet for Food&Wine as hotel prices outrageous. If no festival and things still like they are will just move plane ticket to earlier and come home (love the new flex schedule with plane tickets!)
Also was planning Tday week (again in condo timeshare)- so will wait and see for now on that.
We are heading down in a couple days for 2 weeks in our timeshare just for resort stay. Since Universal now open (and AP there too) May trial the mask wearing in heat. We will see. I don’t mind the mask so much but really wondering about overall experience...

Well it’s hard not to get political and the mask debate gets crazy (and this isn’t the right thread) but the WHO has recently stated they are only needed for those caring for Covid patients. Fauci even made comments about them being ‘a symbol of respect.’ I think we’ll continue to see downward trends of the virus and people will stop being so hyped up about it all. I also think we’ll see problems with employees and guests struggling with heat and breathing and they’ll dial back the restrictions.
Well, Universal opens first. We will get an idea of how much of a negative impact masks will have on TMs and guests from what happens there.

Not sure how you know what everyone does, but They’ve cut enough that it hits everyone except those who only want to ride rides. Even those people will undoubtedly find ride closures they don’t expect.

What we know for sure:
No fireworks, reduced park hours, no hard ticket events, no emh’s, no shows, no parade, no park hopping and a real possibility you won’t get into a park at all. That doesn’t even include the many things that are likely to be gone or the requirements that some consider burdensome.

If you’re ok with that, no cares if you go. But don’t gripe about other people who think that paying the same price for all that, but not getting any of it is too much. For us, shows and hard ticket events are just as important as rides.

I hope that's true. We are still going in October, but if there's no hopping or waterparks I'm hoping they will provide compensation.

Then speak with your money, which is the only language Disney knows, and don’t go but don’t come one here and saying you are getting ripped off because you are not because Disney is not hiding anything from anyone.

The only thing you are not getting with your base ticket is no fireworks, parades, meet and greets and the undefined word of “shows”. Everything else you referred to is a refunded activity.

Wait - so ppl are actually saying this is just about fireworks ?!
If that was the case, we would be packing right now for our July 14 (cancelled) trip ! There are so many other issues -

MANY people are and they are cancelling vacations they have planned for months. So it's really insensitive on your part to diminish their rightful concerns about all of the restrictions, cancellations, and various other unknowns that are yet to hit the fan.

Maybe you're the type of person who is able to go to WDW multiple times a year so all of this is hardly an inconvenience for you, but for many others critical components of their trips have been gutted now. We're going with friend and it will be their 7 yr old daughter's first trip. So the potential prospect of no BBB, no CRT, no parades, fireworks, etc, etc, etc.....is a HUGE deal.

So yes, "full price for a limited experience" is EXACTLY how WDW will be opening, the only real question is how long will that last and will WDW makes changes due to customer feedback or will they take your approach and tell customers take it or leave it. And full price isn't just a $100 park ticket, it includes airfare, hotels, food, not to mention other expenses that puts the average WDW vacation around $5K or more for an average family.

I have spoken with my money, but I’ll come on here and say whatever I think within the guidelines. It is indeed a vastly reduced experience for full price. You can label it however you wish, but you’re paying the same price for a lot less.

You are absolutely wrong in what I normally get with my AP. I didn’t think I needed to define shows, figured everyone knows what they are, but here ya’ go:
Beauty& The Beast, Fantasmic, FOTLK, ROL, Bird Show, Nemo, for starters. I’m sure there are more. Kids play areas like the MK splash pad will be gone for sure and any ride where you may get wet is at risk. And don’t forget all the stage acts in Epcot will be gone as well.

You’re free to go if you want, I’m free not to and we’re both free to voice our opinions on it.

Disney has made no announcements regarding resorts or changes there, therefore you are getting exactly what you signed up for.
The only known unavailability regarding dinning is no characters. There are still many unknowns but with what we know it hasn’t changed much but you just are not preplanned anymore. The rebooking could end up being a disaster or it could be totally fine.
I have a counter to everything people say because- WE DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING YET! What we do know WDW has told us and you can choose to delay or attend, but they are not ripping anyone off. All complaining is primarily based on speculation.

The only people who have a right to be upset and voice it are the people who rely on Dining plans or had a free one which was stripped away.

We were almost $4,000 into our July 14 trip, and had not even arrived yet ! $1,800 for park tix, $900 for airfare , $208 for dessert party, $267 on cirque tix, $500 for room deposits (split stay - 2 ressies )
Between room balances, food /dining costs , etc, we were looking at a possible $10,000 total cost ( for around 25% of the experience)

@cakebaker I wasn’t referring to your use of the word “shows”, I was referring to Disney’s. You just made my point though because everything you listed is speculation there has been no information released regarding anything you listed.

I’m 100% confident they will refund hoppers if they aren’t allowing hopping.

Only the poster I quoted lol. I think everyone else knows it’s much, much more than that.
