Are people not fans of the Tim Tracker?

I cannot believe they kept content like that on their channel for so long. Stop acting like they’re some heroes for posting an apology. They only did after they were called out. They still knowingly had this nonsense out there. They’re just trying to save the channel at this point. With covid, they’ve taken a huge hit. They can’t afford backlash on this.

They were grown adults when they posted these videos. The “youth” excuse is weak.

I also can’t believe Disney hadn’t done their homework on their older videos before sending them on trips & cruises to post Disney content on their channel. I did PR for a very large company, sending products to vloggers for reviews. We did our homework making sure those who we sent products to demo didn’t have anything problematic on their channels. It’s working with influencers 101. I can’t believe Disney didn’t dig back and flag the problematic content before sending them on trips and to comped events.

ETA: Do I believe people can change? Yes. But if the Trackers thought any of their videos were problematic, I think they would have quietly taken them down on their own. I don’t think they saw anything wrong with them, and that’s why they were still on their channel in 2020. Regardless, they have positioned themselves as “family friendly” and it was so irresponsible to have that kind of insensitive and offensive content still available on their channel, whether they grew or not.

I know other people have reported those videos to Disney over the years. And complained about those videos on twitter before. I hope they’ve grown up but it’s telling that they are only mentioning them now when people have brought them up before.

Yeah we get it. Let's hold onto something that was said 8 years ago even though they admitted their mistakes so people can "cancel" them. To go from being angry to holding that criticism for nearly a decade is a little scary.

Apologizing doesn’t change the fact that they just let this stuff sit available on their “family friendly” channel until now. Did it really take people calling them out to realize that it was wrong?

They make their living now 100% from vlogging. You’d think they would have cared about their library of content a little more. Are they apologizing because they are truly sorry or because they’re sorry they could be dropped from media lists and lose their main source of income? Just shows really poor judgment to have had that kind of stuff on their channel, changed or not.

Even if they took it off their channel well beforehand, people would still be trying to "cancel" them because of it. Not to mention it would be mirrored on other channels as well. Nothing on social media ever really disappears.

I'm offended by videos such as this:

Aren't you?

As a straight cis white dude, I can't even begin to understand the plight of minorities. But you know what I can understand, and I'm sick of? White people celebrating Cinco de Mayo. Why? Because as someone with Irish heritage, it ticks me off when people use St. Patrick's Day as a reason to get drunk or sing a song they don't actually understand is pro-IRA, or other ignorant Irish-American nonsense.

I agree. When it’s out there it’s out there. Doesn’t excuse them keeping that kind of stuff up if they truly thought it was wrong. They knew what their channel was before and who it targets now. You’d think they’d take their full time job more seriously.

If they knew the videos were insensitive and offensive and had taken them down long ago and posted an apology, it would have looked much better than doing it now.

Was really bad judgment to make those videos in the first place, bad judgment to keep them up after hitting it big with Disney content and evolving into a family friendly channel. They found their niche and that’s great! But, wow - what a departure from where they began.

They know who they were back then, and they knew this stuff was on their channel.

The super fans who think they are best friends with Jenn & Tim will defend them for anything, even after the Trackers say not to. They’ll keep that core group around, but the extended audience has already started to dissipate. This certainly doesn’t help.

They offered an apology and an admission of guilt for their insensitive past videos. Yet, those same videos are still monetized on their channel and they are still making money from them. The fact that they have not removed the offense material from their channel shows complete and utter insincerity. Therefore, their actions directly contradict their apology. They've had more than enough time to remove the offensive content.

It does no good to admit your mistakes and then take no action to correct the same mistakes.

They said in the apology they posted yesterday that those videos were removed. Still annoying that it took all of this backlash to make them remove them and apologize, but they aren't getting money from them anymore.

And you know theyre making money off of them...how?

They did not remove the offensive videos:

And they are monetized with all the rest of their videos. Or perhaps they did not consider the example video above to be offensive. Then, of course, we have a different kettle of fish.

There are giant webpages dedicated to bloggers/Vloggers/influencers That only watch them as hate watches.
GOMI. Tons of Reddit pages, etc.

That's crazy to me. I had no idea. Then again, I almost never go to Instagram for any reason and I watch YouTube videos based on the individual video topic, not the person posting it. I had not ever even heard or seen the names of the couple you mentioned who recently "re-homed" their adopted son until a friend posted the story on Facebook.

That’s why I could give two craps about their kid, their marriage, or some years old Halloween video. An update on Hagrid’s? I’m all about it.

I understand. I could think 90% of your (general "you") videos are interesting & helpful, but I'm not going to watch the other 10% if they don't sound interesting to me. I don't get anymore invested in the actual YouTubers behind the channels than I do most actors & actresses behind their rolls.

The latter I'm sure. It would probably take another uproar for videos like that one to be deleted based on how long it took to delete the others.

Used to watch them a lot when I first got back into Disney roughly 2 years ago.

But really haven't watched them anymore, just don't care about the content anymore that they provide (and this was pre-covid). Nothing against them, just not for me (I'm a 32 year old single male, so i'm not really their target audience imo)

I haven't watching the Trackers regularly since they started reviewing food too frequently. Which wouldn't have been a bad thing if they had any vocabulary for food, but there is only so far you can go with classifying dishes as "not my favorite" or "pretty good." Maybe describe the texture, the plating, the time it took to be served...

But I digress; I stumbled onto the fact there was some drama with them today. What are the Cliff's notes on what they're getting drug over?

EDIT: About as much as I've figured out from other posts is that they said some stuff on their channel that was insensitive, and in one video even attended an "urban" costume party. But it looks like most of the offensive stuff is gone now?

I don’t know if the trackers have a “hate” following on any on those platforms, but hate watching has an enormous precedent.
They have a large ongoing thread on Guru Gossip. A lot of the same complaints that are listed here.

And you know theyre making money off of them...how?
The videos have ads which is evidence of monetization.

To me it's more "it took them 10 years to apologize?"

I'm kind of with you on that.

This is a bit silly to me. I’ve said and done things in my past that I regret to this day. Stupid teenage stuff, mostly. But I haven't made an apology video for it.

I think everyone has done something that would fit this same bill. I don’t see everyone online offering apology videos for all their past transgressions. Heck, it seems the only ones who do on their own accord are the ones working a 12-step program (and they aren’t posting videos online). If all of you here taking the same stand regarding apologizing for things you've done then I expect full self-accountability: you make your video and share it here when you're done. Even better if you can capture your apology in person to the one(s) you offended.

As an aside, it seems that when someone does apologize for something the reaction is always the same: “why not sooner” or “doesn’t count; they only apologized because they were pressured to”. Even when your apology is sincere. And even when time since has shown they've changed. As is the case here.

Again, hold yourself to the same standards you expect others to be held to. Practice accountability. Therefore, I'll be waiting for apology videos from everyone taking this stance. If you don't make one then don't bother coming on here preaching because you have no leg to stand on.

That all makes sense if they hadn't left the videos up all this time.

I can't explain to you why they did. Maybe they simply forgot about that. Time happens. Maybe they're stupid. Maybe they're terrible people. If so, terrible on them. But again, my point about holding people to standards applies. Just because they are "celebrities" and have videos out there doesn't make them more prone to the rules you hold so dear.

Ya'lls concern is they are influencers. A "family" channel. Okay. Well, people here are moms, dads, brothers, sisters... influences of those around them. Yet, no one here has posted their apology video.

And to be clear, I'm not saying they are entirely excused from saying and doing stupid things in the past. I haven't watched those videos. I'm speaking on principal alone. But I've seen their videos over the last n years and have yet to see anything that I would deem as offensive. I think they've demonstrated that what they were in the videos back then is not who they are now.

They have apologized. Whether it was forced by the crowd or on their own.

People will either accept it and move on. Or they won't.

But, I'm gonna keep harping on the accountability aspect. I haven't seen anyone offer an apology for treating someone a certain way in their lifetime or making a stupid decision. You have family and friends. They see your actions. I guarantee there is something everyone here has done that they probably wouldn't do again. Even as adults.
