Cases rising or dropping by you?

I don't get your comparison. Are you talking about people being concerned about conditions (both of mental and physical health) developed or worsened as a result of prolonged isolation, anxiety, fear, stress, job loss, financial worries, among other things? Are you trying to tell people they shouldn't have worried about those things because a condition related to actual cognitive function is affecting at least some COVID cases and what does that have to do with reopening?

A medical side effect as a result of a virus can be present at any point so not sure what you suggest in correlation to reopening as If stalling a reopening would prevent the medical side effect.

I appreciate the information but don't see a relationship between that and reopening.

Yes

My state's numbers have continued to be bad; we had 75 new cases yesterday, which is the fourth highest they've ever been. I know that compared to other countries it doesn't seem bad at all, and we only have 9 people in hospital with only 1 in the ICU, but we've all seen how quickly those case numbers can grow. It's just so frustrating for all our work to come undone because people can't manage to follow the rules and social distance. This afternoon our Premier announced that the hot spot suburbs will be going back to our tightest restrictions - i.e. you can only leave the house to get essential supplies, to go to work (if you can't work from home), to exercise or for giving or receiving medical care - with fines for breaching them.

Orange County CA: As is the case in most of the US, the numbers are rising significantly. I'd show a graph, but the hospitalization numbers for the last week tell the story - 406, 437, 451, 467, 492, 485, 510, 542.

Testing is very important to minimize spread. There's a newer method of 'batch testing' which is a game changer for the high volume of tests we need to keep taking, but case counts need to be low to take advantage of this method.

If there weren't already plenty of reasons to reduce spread, here is another. If we can keep the numbers down for the summer in this tri-state area, we should be able to utilize batch testing as schools & colleges reopen to catch activity at the early stage.

But you need public compliance.
like all those college kids they are showing on the news......." I was entitled to my spring break fling. my graduation fling. you only live once"......look fellow peers....I am telling you that it was not worth it to do all those events....I wish I had stayed home"....that kind of Public compliance?

Dropping WAY down in NY. The county I live in, only has 7 people hospitalized with COVID.

So it can be done, with the right public policy.
Agreed. However that's not really enough information to make any comparisons to other areas. What is the population of the county? What was their highest hospitalized. I'm in CA and my county of 500,000 has 11 confirmed Covid cases currently hospitalized, which as a percent on paper looks great (well as a great as can be) - however it's actually double what we were seeing 2 weeks ago. And then to break it down further, some of those are transports from the outbreak at San Quentin and some are from an outbreak at a skilled nursing facility. So is the number in my county good or bad? It's being debated both ways around here right now.

That said, NY is obviously on the right path. I truly hope it stays that way as they begin real reopenings - the ones that got so many of us in trouble (my county included).

Here in PA we had our largest one day total yesterday since May - 830. Current statewide total is 88,000. Median age testing positive is 29.

What was the high? And when?

I'm sure it's a combination, but since NY hit their spike early, are the lower numbers now because they've already spiked or because of the steps they've taken since the spike?

Those kids are just speeding up their inheritance.

I mean comply with public healthcare recommendations.

It's crazy here in Florida. More than 10k new cases today.

Today's numbers:
169,106 cases in Florida
3,617 deaths in Florida
28,547 cases in Central Florida

Orange County:
July 2: 11,458 cases
June 2: 2,048 cases

My app says it's up 60 percent since last week here in northern Florida. I'm a little over an hour away from Disney World.

All states should have a zero travel restriction from/to FL, TX, and AZ. These states have too many residents and leaders that just cannot seem to care enough. Just like with many other conditions in life, you can’t help someone who’s unwilling to change their behavior.
