Which Resort was One and Done for You?

BLT. We stayed there so we could walk to Magic Kingdom. Now that our kids are older, will not stay there again. CMs were not very friendly at all.

Loved VGF. I think it’s going to be our new go-to Disney resort.

I’m from Louisiana so the theme did nothing for me. We had issues at check in. We felt isolated and we were very far from the main building. People rave about this resort and I simply don’t understand why.
It was our first trip back in 7 years and my only regret of the trip is that we stayed there.
I’m in the Pacific NW but love WL! I think in many WDW resorts location is a make or break stay.
POR is one of our favs, we request mansion section in Magnolia or Acadian, both buildings are central locations. I love the beautiful landscape, river paths, carriages going by, and evening entertainment. Maybe if you have a better room location you’d feel differently.

POR and POFQ.

Stayed with family once at POR and was miserable. The mansions felt stuffy to me, and the themeing of the bayou just feels junky to me.

Stayed solo at POFQ and just don’t get the appeal. Granted I don’t get the fascination with New Orleans, so that probably was a big part of me not getting POFQ, but still.

I’m good to return to all the others I have stayed in (Sports, Music, POP, AOA, CBR, CSR, and AKL.)

For me it would be the Polynesian also. Primarily because I have no interest in the theming. Also, it seemed kind of old and dark.

There's really no reason for me to try again when WDW offers so many other great places to stay. I'm not into moderates, but we are booked at Gran Destino next year simply because it's all in one building.

I haven’t really had a one and done. Although it seems many of the dislikes here had to do with room location they got and would have a different opinion on Resort if they were in a better location.

Although not exactly a one and done, but I’d say any of the Values. They just don’t appeal to me. I have stayed at Pop, usually for 1 night when we had a late arrival, and last time was a couple of years ago in Dec for 10 days. It was ok, we got a new room which I loved. And because it was winter I didn’t care about pool and resort time like we do in summer. I’d never consider staying at Pop in summer. But my wdw travel buddy likes Pop in winter. Now with Skyliner it makes it more palatable lol.

Coranado Springs. Too big. Hard to get to the room. Not a fan of the Southwestern theming. Food not great.

I have never stayed at a resort that I would refuse to stay at again, and I have occasionally done a second stay at a resort I didn’t love as much for different reasons (price, availability, or location for the most part). But given my choice, the only All Star I’ve stayed at was music and while it was fine I wouldn’t choose any of the All Stars if I had a viable second option. I didn't care for Coronado Springs, but haven’t stayed since the renovation and tower were added- I might like the tower better (maybe, still not my cup of tea). I didn’t care for the beach club when we stayed there, I loved the yacht club though.

I know we all seem to have our favorite resorts, and I do pretty much love them all myself!! (Well, I haven’t stayed at all of them, but I have stayed at many and resort hopped to just about all of them to check them out)

What resort have you stayed at that you don’t feel you need to stay at again and why?

For me, it’s the Polynesian. Don’t get me wrong, it is beautiful and I do make sure to visit each trip, but I don’t feel like I need to stay there again. I much prefer Beach Club, Contemporary, GF, WL and POR.

It’s silly, but I don’t like the scent at Captain Cooks and I just wasn’t into the vibe of our room decor last summer. I love Hawaiian theme in general, so I am not sure what exactly I wasn’t into. I wish I wanted to stay there again because it’s my husbands favorite. We even had our wedding reception there!!

I also have never stayed at AKL, but have visited several times, and I don’t fully understand the appeal. I do want to stay at least once since I hear such great reviews.

What resorts just aren’t your cup of tea?

For us, it is the Grand Floridian. Way overpriced, outdated, and generally not impressed by it.

I would say my one and done was Caribbean Beach.....we were somewhere far from main area, this was 19 yrs ago so I don't remember what building or anything. Other than that, we've never stayed in any of the moderates. We've stayed multiple stays at: All Star Sports and Music, OKW 2 bedrooms (DVC rental from someone), Ft Wilderness Cabin (loved the campground but definitely NOT impressed with the cabin), then many years ago we started staying Deluxe Club Level....AKL definitely our favorite because It's always quiet, calm and serene, we love the CL Cast Members. We've also tried out Boardwalk Inn, Beach Club, Poly, Ft Wilderness and this September at Contemporary.

Grand Floridian for me. No thanks, not worth the money.
The lobby is beautiful and the grounds are beautiful. That's about it. We had a theme park view room in Boca Chica but the view was completely blocked by a big tree. I asked for a different room, but they told me that none was available. A couple of hours later, I saw a family checking into a room several doors down.
And everyone says that the transportation at GF is wonderful. It's not. Every bus we got on at the hotel was already full. Not just full, but standing room only. Turns out, the buses pick up Poly guests first then head on over to GF.
And the monorail is worse. You've got everyone from the Contemporary, TTC, and Poly already on the musty, sweat smelly monorail before it even gets to the GF.

I feel done with Port Orleans Riverside. We had a pretty terrible experience there last summer and I have no desire to return. We did not really enjoy the Polynesian, either, but we stayed in a DVC studio. I'd be willing to give it one more try and stay in a regular room there.

Polynesian. We had an extremely negative experience with a disrespectful and downright rude CM who worked in the Hawaii (club level) building. It really tainted what was otherwise an enjoyable resort stay for us. we will not return there. Ever. We have mixed feelings now about the Poly as a resort. We really like it, but this experience left us with such a bad taste that I’m not sure we’d stay even in a regular (not CL) garden view room there.

Coronado Springs felt like a one and done experience for us. Nothing wrong with it, we’re happy to have had the chance to stay there, especially in the beautiful tower. We just found the sprawling layout and internal bus system (we are not fans of Disney buses) inconvenient. The scent in the tower also aggravated my daughter’s allergies, which was a first for us. She has lots of complicated allergies and is sensitive to many scents, but we had never come across a “Disney scent” (and we’ve stayed at quite a few resorts) that disagreed with her allergies!

we haven't stayed in all of them, so hard to say. I never say never. But probably not choose Old Key West, unless there was nothing else. I felt like we were staying in an apartment building, and the bus system was crazy. Once the driver didn't take the correct route, and we were stuck on there an extra 30 mins, as he was looping all over, and almost left property without dropping everyone off. Not a huge fan of SSR either, again mostly for the bus. Although now figured out it was quicker to walk to another early stop than wait for the crowded/full bus. OKW was only a couple nights tho, so didn't get to try the pool. Also did a super quick trip at Coronado, years ago, and found it too spread out. But we also didn't get to enjoy the resort. we're DVC , so rarely stay at non DVC unless out of points or adding a few nights here and there.

I have to agree that the location of your room can make or brake your experience in a resort. If I was asked this question a year ago I would have said POP Century but after my last experience, I have to say I really like POP. I think also, if you have a car that helps with transportation too. Especially if the resort is huge.

WL is a favorite for us as well. On our last trip a few years ago we stayed at POR for the first time in a Royal Room with a river view and loved it! The grounds were beautiful to us as well. It was a short walk to the food court on the days we had breakfast there and they were great making things for my family members with food allergies. The multiple bus stops worked out fine and we were there Thanksgiving week which is one of the crowded times.

Coronado, long time ago, I think 2001. Didn’t like food court, got stuck with smoking room.

My first trip to WDW was in 2001 and we stayed at Coronado. My dad got severe food poisoning from their food court that he spent two days in the room and missed out on theme park days. He vows he will never stay there again. 😂

Coronado was not impressed with rooms, food court was the worst.

Grand Floridian DVC Villas staying at primo resort and the service we received was less that adequate. It was almost as if the DVC portion of the resort was an after thought. Oh wait they were.

all-star music I think just the names explains it.
