Silly irritations

We have had one since we moved here in 2015. I love it. Much more secure. The ability to put packages in larger lockers also cuts down on theft from packages being left at the door.
What do they do with packages that are bigger than the larger lockers?

Robocalls, some people ignore them but I accept then and try to stall wasting as much of the callers/sellers time as possible, eventually they stop calling. I sometimes make up crazy stories too asking them to help find whoever they are calling because money is owed etc., it usually works. I bet they'd stop if lots of people did this and it cost more money than it earned.

Automated voice anything. First, they do not get my NY accent so that's just uggh, how is AI supposed to rule the world if it doesn't understand accents? Second, why do these automated systems use so many words to say nothing, it's 10 minutes to pay my gas bill.

When the foil safety seals on food & medications are ridiculously super glued on, and even when you pierce the center and attempt to peel off you still cannot get all the foil to pull away.

It irritates me, :confused3, it just does.

Completely justified! Like those foil safety seals with the "easy to remove pop up tab" so you pull the tab and it only tears off the top half of the foil and you still have a foil safety seal to deal with! Granted it's easier to poke through now but it was a defective tear tab! Ugh, hashtag first world problems. :rotfl:

Today mine is all of those riddles people post on Facebook. Sometimes they are math, but most times they are word riddles.

Those annoying math problems! "Bet you can't solve this!" - I bet you're right! *keeps scrolling*

I found the solution to all mail problems is to give your mail carrier a generous gift card every Christmas. No more complaints about snow blocking the mailbox (or about anything else), packages left safely in our garage, very friendly smiles and waves, even regular dog biscuits for our pup.

We don't have a regular mail carrier here. There are multiple of them and it's not unheard of either to have your package delivered in a separate mail vehicle than your regular mail though that is more during the busier holiday season.

People who post a long rant or controversial opinion or political video or whatever and then get really angry that people actually comment on it, especially if they question it or disagree. And don't post something and say "I don't want comments, I just want to share this highly questionable video/opinion/photo...etc". Get out of here :rolleyes2

When I am talking to someone (mainly my mother) and as I am telling her information, she ask me the very question that I am telling her. >:(

To me, by far the worst is when someone needs to rehome a pet, I have no problem with that. What I have a problem with is all the “how could you????” Comments. And they get soooo nasty. I usually say “so just take the pet yourself” and there’s a lengthy list as to why they can’t, of course, but how no one should ever just give their baby away... this is all usually typed out with quite dramatic emojis. I don’t comment because we are not in the market for a pet but I don’t wait he’ll fire on them for trying to help a pet out.

Ugh. This annoys me too. Sometimes you simply cannot keep a pet. It doesn't make you a terrible person. And, no, an ANIMAL does not deserve the same amount of consideration as the human members of a family.

I'd rather someone rehome a dog than debark it. While I'm not necessarily for rehoming in general there are some reasons where it's for the betterment of the animal.

I tend to think a lot of the debate centers around why someone rehomes a pet. Unfortunately a lot of people rehome for inconveniences (like dog barking, peeing, food, routine medical care, animal ages, etc) and while you don't want someone who won't properly care for an animal to still have that animal it doesn't mean some of the comments won't be aimed correctly at the person.

I agree. But I feel like at least they are trying to do right by the animal. It’s all the “OMG you’re so awful” comments that get to me

“Just give the kid Benadryl if he’s allergic”. Ok doctor oz. it doesn’t always work that way. Makes me nuts

But if you have nothing nice to say or can’t offer constructive advice, just scroll on. Right? They are trying and they deserve credit for that imo

Probably depends on the person. I don't tend to comment either way but I can usually tell the tone of someone's comment whether they are coming from a certain place of great concern or not. I wouldn't advocate being mean to someone though but I don't think saying something itself constitutes being mean. I would agree with saying something like "you're an awful person" is not the right thing to do though in most cases but depending on the reason I'm also not going to tell someone if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all. I'd probably silently agree with them depending on the reason.

Sometimes the reason someone is giving the animal away isn't merely doing right by the animal. A dog who has been in a family attached to the family lived with the family for 6,7 years and then is abruptly attempted to be rehomed because the dog is now aging and needs more TLC isn't doing right by the animal. But a dog who has anxiety because of other animals in the household or who just doesn't get the attentiveness because of work schedules may be doing right by the animals. At times it may be more applicable to say something even if in the end you'd rather the animal being in a loving household.

There was a Nextdoor post one time where a person with a German Shepard was looking to rehome because the dog was too energetic and needed a lot of attention. Multiple people offered names to German Shepherd rescues in the area but they also posted "you should have looked into the breed before committing to one" to some that might seemed uncalled for to others not.

I will always give some credit to someone who is willing to rehome versus abandoning or taking them to the vet to be put to sleep though so I agree on that for sure.
