Boulder Ridge Referb

There is nothing native or northwest about that headboard. I am from the northwest and that headboard shares nothing in common with the northwest. The color is obnoxious and blue is not a common color used. I live near many reservations.
Is it, or is it not consistent with Pendleton patterns? Pendleton prints are not Native American. They have, however, been milking products in Oregon since the 1860’s.

I'm good with all of it. That IS either a Pendleton blanket on the headboard or a nice replica. Sometimes the choices for décor are not obvious or in your face, and I kind of like that.
I booked Nov 1 - 5 at 11 mos at CC, my home resort. I wanted a full week but it's a race weekend so no availability for Sat - Mon. In the meantime, I bought a BRV resale contract (BRV was where I first fell in love with WL) and booked Nov 5 -7 one bedroom. Curious as to what I'll get. I don't hate the old 1 bdrms but of course, a brandy newby would be nice. Or they can leave me at CC. Or put me in a cabin.:rolleyes1 If it's still a topic of interest here, I'll roam and take photos and let you all see what's going down at our beloved Boulder Ridge.

We could go back and forth all day on what we believe the headboard represents. I live out here in the northwest and have never seen these colors are not commonly used. A dusty blue yes but, not primary colors. If these colors were used thorough out the room that would have made more sense. The colors used throughout the rest of the room are inline with the northwest theme. I have shown the room to other people, and they don't understand it. The fact is this room would have come together if they had kept in the same color scheme and not just randomly chose colors that have nothing to do with the theming. I am just saying I am not ok with that choice. I am very confused by the thought process. I can only think they couldn't get the supplies they needed and had to get it done. This doesn't make sense to me and I don't like it. It seemed as though they were leaning towards a Navaho theme from the look of the carpet in the hallways and the accent rug as well. If you like it that is ok. I myself am actually surprised how upset I am about it. I was even thinking of bringing a throw to cover it.

which blanket looks like the headboard though. And Pendelton blankets are Native American with geometric patterns which you could see in the area rug on the floor and in the new hallway carpeting. This would have made more sense.

This post. Haha. I want pics of the covered headboard!

I would have loved the colors that we can see on the bottom portion of the curtains be used on the headboard, but I agree that we all have different likes and opinions, I am in the process of buying a small contract there and I am just so happy for all you that have waited for this refurbishment to start, I wish all of you (and me as a soon owner) many many happy memories with your families in this soon to be refurbished rooms!!!

The posted photo of a photo may, for multiple reasons, not accurately show the true colors of the decor. Totally agree that we'll need to wait and see it in person. I can see why some think the Pendleton company designs are reflected in that headboard. They currently offer these products for sale:

Chimayo throw: Big Medicine blanket:

Yosemite National Park throw with carrier

Yellowstone National Park throw with carrier

These are all beautiful colors. Hopefully, the BRV designers have chosen decor combinations that are appealing when we see them in person.

Not to meantion that there's three different types of wood in the bed area. It's a cluster. The bed platform is walnut. The headboard is oak and the mirror is cherry wood. These are the things interior decorators usually cringe over.

Also. I'll cover the headboard with a pendleton bkanket.
The headboard lights are blowing out the color’s in the photo. I have a feeling those blues and reds are less ‘bright’ and more muted.
This is my hope. I still don't understand the blue or the use of multiple wood types. The mirror is cherrywood. I know people want to like this room. I'm just saying the Emperor has no clothes.

It may be a throwback tribute to the original VWL decor, which always looked to me like a collection of old, mismatched furniture pieces brought from home to furnish the cabin in the woods. More functional than cohesive decor.

Everyone has different reactions to interior design, to be sure. I love contrasting wood tones - ex., hickory hardwood floors with cherry kitchen cabinets, large plank parquet floors, or inlaid wood patterns in furniture. Because of the lighting and possible reflections from the red sofa, the studio photo may actually only include 2 wood tones... oak and espresso/walnut.

My first reaction to the image was that the lighting was harsh, but I like the amount of natural wood tones, with some splashes of color. Definitely want to see how it looks in subdued daylight. I suspect it will be quite pleasant.

Question: The 1BR at SSR has a murphy bed in the LR - does anyone know if the refurb here will include that vs. a new sofa bed?

That was my thinking precisely.

That was just one example that showed multiple blankets in one photo. Pendleton has hundreds of patterns, some with bold primary color stripes, some with Native American patterns and some with plaids. All of those blankets are Pendleton, and zero have Native American geometric patterns.

When they announced that Riviera would have the queen Murphy beds in the living room and the studios, they pretty much promised that all of the DVC resorts would get those beds as they underwent refurbishment. So I expect that BRV will get them too. OKW did not, but that has to do with the arrangement of walls and windows in those rooms, which makes it impractical to install the Murphy bed.

Well that's "interesting". Since it's a picture of a projected picture I'll hope it's what is making the colors appear a bit off plus what appears to be "daylight" bulbs - far too bright for a room but it should take care of all the complaints it's too dark at VWL. Only a slight glimpse of the curtains show they are green/red/orange/black/beige base and they are far enough away from the lights to have color less affected.
But oh - the shin killers in the room! The sofa table and the bed. That's not different than most refurbs at Disney though. They seem to want us all walking around bruised. Sad they've gone with the very light walls but at least the rest has some character.

Yikes, totally agree! The bed platforms that allow more room underneath for vacuuming and stowing luggage are definitely shin killers... terrible when walking in the dark!

Is that boxy sofa table the kind where you can lift the tabletop toward you when you're seated on the sofa, and use it as a desk?

It might be that although I think it looks more like it will just open for storage. Probably depends if they've kept the single murphy bed with a table when closed or switched it out for the kind like is at VGF with no attached table when it's closed.

Glad that this is finally happening. I am giving the Disney decorators the benefit of the doubt that the colors are not as garish as they appear to be in this one picture of a projection. I am more concerned that the room does not look as comfortable as I would have wished. All stiffness and hard edges. I am looking forward to better photos which include kitchen remodel.
