Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you’re all having a great day with your loved ones.

Yesterday I took the upgrade offer on DH’s Biz Gold to the Biz Platinum. This morning I quickly got him enrolled in Dell and Southwest and made my purchases. Hopefully a successful triple dip. All the while my family was enjoying their new Christmas “toys.” 😁 Now I’m off to go spend the rest of my day enjoying great food and family.

Vanilla gift card has decent customer service. Ordered a $500 card Thursday when happ posted a promo code for the activation fee. Paid through Paypal. Got an email this morning that they had cancelled my order. Called, she said I didn't have a default shipping address listed on my account, which I find odd because I have ordered several things through Paypal that have been delivered here, plus this is an electronic GC. Anyway, she was able to give me another promo code to use to reorder, and they were working on Christmas Eve!
Spoke too soon. Just got another email that my 2nd order was rejected. All my shipping and billing addresses match, not sure what they are seeing. I give up.

Could I get some suggestions on how to use the AMEX Plat airline credit? We haven't chosen an airline yet. My dd and I will be flying to WDW (SWA) at the end of January and DH and I will be heading to Hawaii (Delta) in March.

If you fly SW, it is easy to use the Plat credit. You can book a SW flight for under $105 then cancel to keep the travel funds to use towards a cash booking.

If you want to build up to grater than $100, just use change instead increase by $105 or less and then cancel to keep the travel funds.

So like the other day, I did:
Flight for $105
Change for $95
Change for $101
Change for $99
Cancel for $400 in travel funds

Just back from our cruise, and sorry to hear about all the travel woes some have had. We had amazing weather in the Caribbean and were sad to come home to SC coldest temps ever!

I’ll add my little experience with our flights yesterday, Xmas eve, from MIA to CLT. Flights were booked with points on AA. They offered us the option in the app to get a voucher and switch our flights. We weren’t sure if we wanted to do it or not, but it said you have the option to accept or reject up until you board, so we said what the heck, we’ll choose the highest amount and see what happens. Sure enough, there were like 25 ppl on standby trying to get on our flight, and they offered DH and I both $975 in vouchers to switch our flights, so a total of $1950. 😱

I was not about it, since we never pay for flights with money anyways, and they have to be used within a year and all our travel for the next year is booked already, but DH really wanted to do it. The flights they were trying to put us on to switch had a connection in Norfolk though, and put us into CLT around 9pm instead of the original 3pm nonstop. In the end, we didn’t take it, and left as scheduled on our original flight. I was ready to get home to the dogs, and with the holiday and all the flight cancellations, I was worried we might wind up stuck in Virginia overnight.

We could’ve made a pretty penny in AA vouchers, but I was glad to make it home on time. Getting our luggage though was a sh*+ show! They only had one carousel working at baggage claim for all the AA flights. There were about a dozen of them from all over, so all the bags were just coming through randomly from everywhere. We waited an hour for ours, but some people had already been waiting 3 hours for theirs. No employees to be found anywhere. The whole experience made me remember why we don’t normally fly on the holidays lol.

Oh, and when a baggage boy did finally come out once, he told someone that they offloaded a departing plane by mistake, and that plane left without any luggage. So they had an entire plane’s worth of luggage piled up in the middle of the airport, waiting to be loaded onto another plane. I feel bad for the people on that flight that get to their destination with no bags.

Merry Christmas everyone! We are planning a 7 night RCCL Med cruise out of Barcelona. I want to add-on Paris, London and Edinburgh. I am thinking 3-4 nights in each for the add-on. How many days in Barcelona recommended and any hotel recommendations?

I didn't think airfare counted! The flight I'm looking at is $99, so are you saying I can buy that and it will work to get the credit?

Airfare is not supposed to trigger the credit......but years of experience suggests that fares under $100 (or maybe $105) will trigger the credit more often than not. No guarantees of course, but this seems to have worked for a long time.

Those travel funds are only good for 1 person correct?

Saks has WDW coach men's slides on sale for $33 Here. The smallest men's size they have is an 8 so if any ladies can fit that size they are nice. These same navy one's and the pink and white women's version are on sale elsewhere for $66 to $77. I stalked the white bag with the blue logo on saks page for a few weeks before it was in stock. Missed it as a really really good price and got it at a really good price. Still don't know what I'll use it for but I like the logo so much I couldn't pass it up.

And 10% back on Saks via Rakuten right now! Wish I hadn't already used my $50 AmEx plat Saks credit!

We stayed at the Cotton House in Barcelona (I used my FHR credit). Stunning property. But it was only two of us. Not sure what their room options were for a family of 3. And we only had one day in Barcelona. We saw Sagrada Familia and Park Guell. Maybe a couple of days.

Oh I hope you’ll post your itinerary! I’d love to plan a trip like this to take my mom and daughter. We’ve not sailed on RCCL before so I’ll take a look at their destinations.
