HI EVERYONE,

WE ARE GOING ON OUR "FIRST" DCL

3 DAY WONDER CRUISE NOV. 4, 2004

OUR CLAN IS MY MOTHER-IN-LAW (FIRST TRIP SINCE HER HUSBAND HAS PASSED) MYSELF & 10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER.
DH HAS TO WORK

ANYONE ELSE GOING AT THIS TIME?

DISNEY'S WEB SITE SHOWS ON THIS DATE, ONLY CAT 4 THRU 9 IS LEFT ON THIS DATE, EVERY OTHER CAT IS BOOKED. DOES THIS MEAN THE SHIP IS QUITE FULL?

NJ SCHOOLS ARE OFF AT THE ABOVE DATE, I AM HOPING THAT, THERE WILL BE LOT'S OF FELLOW ~JERSEY DISNEY LOVERS~ ON THE WONDER.

ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BINGO? DO THEY PLAY EVERY DAY, OR IF THERE IS A COVER CHARGE FOR IT?

I HAVE READ ALMOST "ALL" OF THE BOARDS IN THE LAST MONTH & I AM BECOMING A REAL DCL EXPERT.

CAN'T WAIT FOR MY ~PASSPORT BOOK~ TO COME IN THE MAIL FROM AMAZON. ALTHOUGH I CAN'T IMAGINE LEARNING ANYTHING NEW, THAT I HAVEN'T READ IN THE BOARDS.

THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT TIPS EVERYONE.

I have booked a cat 9 room for myself and my 11 and 13 YO sons. If my cabin can hold 4, my sister may come with us as she thinks she might have some vacation time left. My 16YO son and husband are staying home. Yes, we are Jersey people! The boys wanted to go on a Disney cruise almost as much as I do, so I figured I'd better do it before they say no way as the big guy has.

I still have not made flight arrangements; I am waiting to see if we are going to be a group of 3 or 4. We will go down on Wed. afternoon no matter what. I have not decided if we will stay in Orlando or near the ship. We just did Disney for a week last Aug., so we will skip the parks this time.

HI THERE TIGGRBABY,

WHERE IN JERSEY ARE YOU?

WE ARE FLYING OUT OF LGA GOT A GREAT DEAL ON A FLIGHT (LGA IS ONLY 15 MINUTES FROM OUR HOME, VERSUS EWR IS ABOUT 45
MINUTES)

WHERE ARE YOU STAYING? WE ARE STAYING IN THE RADDISON.
I HERE IT HAS GREAT HEATED POOLS FOR KIDS. VERY RESONABLE IN PRICE, PLUS THE FREE SHUTTLE TO THE PORT.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=550324

WE ARE NOT GOING TO THE PARKS EITHER. WE WERE THERE 2/04 PLUS WE ARE GOING 2/05.

WE ARE TESTING THE 3 DAY, BEFORE WE BOOK THE 7 FOR NEXT 11/05

IS THIS YOUR FIRST DLC?

We are in central Jersey between Princeton and Somerville. We are also flying out of NY. Not as close for us, but the flights were better and cheaper! We are going to stay in Orlando Wed. and take the kids to Disneyquest; I will cash in some of my points from the credit card to pay. We will stay in some local hotel since it looks like we can get one for under $50, then rent a car to go to the port. I can get a small one through Costco for under $35/day. Since it will not be more than an hour ride, they will survive with a small back seat!

This will be our first DC. The kids really liked their two NCL cruises, so I hope they can deal with a set dining time! It is such a short cruise, I don't think that they will notice.

I did just splurge and book a room at the Comfort Suites in Nassau. Using the entertainment book, it will work out to be just around $50pp. I figure that's not much more that a trip through the Digs, and we can use the slides. I can cancel 48 in advance if it looks like the weather is going to be bad. I am really looking forward to the private island!

HI TIGGRBABY,

WHICH NY AIRPORT ARE YOU FLYING OUT OF ON WED?

I HAVE BEEN GETTING LOT'S OF EMAILS WITH GREAT AIRFARE SALES.

ALSO,I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR A "RENT A CAR." I SETTLED ON PRICE LINE. I WILL BE RENTING WITH NATIONAL (LOCATED IN MCO) FOR ONLY 17.00 A DAY. IT IS FREE TO LEAVE THE CAR AT THE RADDISON & RADDISON OFFERS A SHUTTLE.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND, WHY ARE YOU RENTING A ROOM AT THE COMFORT SUITES IN NASSAU?

HAVE YOU TRIED TRAVELOITY FOR AIRFARE? OR SPIRIT? I GOT MINE FOR 200.00 PER PERSON. ACTUALLY WE WERE BUMPED LAST FEB 04, & WAS ABLE TO GET FREE TICKETS FOR NOV 04 & FOR NEXT FEB 05. IT REALLY PAYS TO GIVE YOUR SEATS!!!

WHERE WAS YOUR NCL CRUISE? WAS IT OUT OF NY OR FLORIDA? WE ARE THINKING ABOUT CRUISING NEXT NOV 05

ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT.

THANKS

PATRICIA

We are leaving from JFK on Wed. about 12:30. We got our flight for about $200 r/t through Delta.

We booked the room at CS so we could have site privileges at Atlantis and use their water slides. When we were on the Dawn at Easter, we walked around the Atlantis, but you need a wristband to use the facilities. The kids were very interested in going back to use the slides, and I am, too! We figure it is about the cost of an excursion, but we go on the slides.

We went on the Dawn out of NYC for Easter break. The ship was very full (1000 kids!), but it was beautiful. They have freestyle dining, which my kids like as it does not involve planned seating or suits (my father and husband are big fans of that, also!). The ports weren't very exciting, but I understand that they have 10 day cruises in the winter that have nice ports. I teach, so I am limited to when I can get away. We also went on the Star in 2002 when it was in Hawaii. That was another big ship, and the ports were great.

I think my kids will be shocked at the difference with the short cruise and traditional dining, but I think that the ports will make up for it. I know that my sister and I are really looking forward to this trip!

Hi All,

We, too, will be on the 11/4 cruise. This will be the family's first cruise - altho I've been on a few bk (before kids!). We will be travelling with our 3 kids - DS 11 DDs 8 and 4. Also, my MIL will be joining us along with a friend from NY. We actually start the week out in WDW on Saturday at All Star Movies before transferring to OKW on Sunday. I think we have a busy trip ahead of us but am glad we decided to do the 3 day on the back end versus the 4 day at the front. We'll be in WDW for Halloween and doing Not so Scarey on 10/31. We were down the same week in 02 and loved it so it just made sense to go back the same week.

It's funny to see you are all from Jersey. We are in PA - but just across the Delaware in Doylestown. We looked into flying out of Newark and Allentown but air was outrageous at the time. I finally paniced and booked out of Phila International at a crazy price. It's the most I've ever paid for airfare to FL. But I just worried that we had booked everything and couldn't find airfare. Even USAIR in Philly had problems getting us all on a flight. As it is, I have to do connecting flights both ways. And Southwest had yet to post flight availability for October. Now that they have, their price is $350.pp. So it turns out USAIR was a bargain at $270.

I can't remember is anyone said this was a return trip - but I would love to get excursion recommendations. Is it worth paying for $60 for the Atlantis offer? I figure I have no choice for my MIL and her lady friend since they will want to hit the casino but someone just told me that you can't use the beach in Nassau unless you go through the hotel and pay. Altho, he said, once he paid no one checked his passes and could have easily just walked onto the beach. So he felt like they just saw "sucker" written on his forehead and feed him a line.

Would like to know what you all think!

Hope to :chat: more!

Margie

We'll be on that cruise too! Me, DH and DDs ages 5 and 8.

This will be our 3rd DCL cruise. Our first was back in 1998 when our older DD was 2 and then 3 years later with both of them when they were 2 and 5. We try to go every 3 years.

I'm already counting the days when our papers come! I enjoy filling them out!

We probably won't do any excursions but DH will do the parasailing on CC.

We won't go to Nassau this time around and enjoy the ship this time.

Can't wait to see the show and relax on CC!::yes::

Margie:

We stopped at Nassau on a cruise over Easter week. We went on the tour of the "Digs" that you can purchase from Atlanis - was $25, now I hear it is $29. It took about 1 1/2 hours and involved a lot of walking. My boys enjoyed it. the casino is beautiful (glass sculptures). The man who sold us the wristbands told us how to get on the beach, so we spent about two hours there. I think that the water may have been a bit rough for younger kids.

I think that your MIL will just need to take a taxi to the Atlantis if she is only interested in the casino. I think that they only limit access to the pools/waterslides/beaches. I have booked a room at Comfort Suites so we can use the slides this time.

You can check the ports of call board at cruise critic to get more info on Atlantis.

You will find a lot of Jersey people that week as it is the teacher convention 11/4 and 5. Most kids will be out of school.

We are another NJ family on the 11/4 cruise. We have 3 kids, DD15, DD8 and DS8. We will be in a cat 4 room (for some bizarre reason two of the lower cat rooms were more expensive than the cat 4. Now I hear that isn't the case. Would have rathered have the 2 bathrooms!)

We will be spending Halloween at WDW and then driving from WDW to the port that morning. We got seats on Southwest out of PHL. Within hours of the return flights for 11/7 showing up, they disappeared! Its amazing how quick you have to be with these things!

This is our second cruise. We were on the 7D Eastern in 2002 (just 1 cruise before all of the sickness problems showed up! :earseek: )

These 'NJ' cruises are great. Whenever they ask where everyone is from at least 2/3s of the guests say NJ. This invokes numerous cheers and screams! Lots of fun!

Looking forward to the cruise even if it is a quickie.

I'm in the minority I guess....from MA now but I was born and raised in NJ!! Does that count?:wave2:

I can't wait!

I'll also be at WDW the 5 days before and doing the MNSSHP on Halloween! I can't wait!!

I'm almost at 100 days till that trip!!

"SMALL WORLD"

Small world, indeed! I went to school in Garfield from 7th grade to 10th grade before I moved.

I lived up on "Ginnie" Heights...no offense meant to any Italians...I'm Italian too and that's what we called it!! My grammer school was Mark Twain and was torn down after I went into GHS.

I can't believe what a small world it really is!
