A word on line cutting

I'm blown away by that too! I mean, you had let countless people go in front of you, and those people (had they stayed behind you) would have gotten to go on at the exact time that they were going to if your girls hadn't left the line. Their lives weren't impacted *at all*. Ugh!

That's exactly what the group that behind us said. LOL In fact they said it while the group we had let go in front of us was complaining to the CM. LOL It was Buzz Lightyear, we had FP but the line was only like 10 min, the girls needed to use the bathroom so we said "OK you go do that, we will get in the line and you can catch up". they used the bathrooms over by the Plaza Inn back in that corner and we let probably 10-15 groups go ahead of us in the end. It was just ridiculous. We laugh about it now. :)

to clarify. The 3 people cutting were never in line. They had one person get in line while the other 3 "took care of the baby". After they did that, they got into line with their friend right when he reached the end of the line... :sad2:

You should just excuse yourself and your party up through the line and get right in front of the line cutters and act as though nothing is wrong. If everyone did this, the line cutters would eventually be at the end of the line..where they belong ;)

Thats an awesome idea :rotfl2:. I once saw soemthing similar, in line for the tram at Universal Hollywood, this large group of teens and Im talking like 15 started hopping a rope close to the front of the line, everyone behind was pretty angery about it includeing my BF and I, who were directly behinf and had been waiting a solid two and a half hours in the july sun. The cast memeber told us dont worry well take care of them. But then they did nothing and I figured wed been blown off and was a little put out. However when the group reached the front of the line the worker bees asked them to step to the side stateing they would be taking a special tram for large group and then ushered everyone behind them on to the tram, they were still standing there when we arrived back from out hour long tour, it was pretty sweet. :cloud9:

yesss!! I am soo goinng to do that next time with a group of people!!

Disneyland really is slacking on this. If you, like I, happen to have guides from KBF, SFMM, DL, and DCA, it's striking how the other theme parks explain in great detail the rules against line cutting in all its variants, while the Disney guides have not one word on this.

On our last trip we were at DHS and my dd who at the time was 4, decided she needed to go to the bathroom while we were in line for the backstage tour. So I took her to the bathroom and though the cast member said we could catch up with our group, people were so rude to us, that we ended up sitting at a table that was nearby and waited for our group. One man even called us both privileged "b's".

wow some people can be soo rude!:scared1: im sorry that happend to you...

it's not like you just walked up and joined them in line.. you were there from the start! i know you can't help it when a 4 year old has to go tinkle. but that was WAY rude of the other people to even call you such a name let alone make you wait for your group--i am appalled by the way some people act at theme parks!
:scared1:

i think disney does, have a guidline, cause as i have seen, people will get removed from the park if caught line cutting.

like I said one adult and on child is no big, and for the back stage tour? really how much longer could they have waited honestly some people take it too far.

some people can be sooo rude. of course i guess where ever you go, you are sure to encounter people like this.

Thanks for clarifying. This fits under my definition of line cutting (anything that exceeds one parent & one child for a potty break).

Thanks for calling them out. If i had been there i would have "backed you up"....or you would have been backing me up.

I believe that if 3-4 (or more) people spoke up anytime there were line cutters....then fewer people would try to cut in line. Ignoring them only encourages them. Some of us prefer to nip it in the bud....I am glad that you are one of those people who speaks up. :thumbsup2

In my opinion, if you feel the need to say something, please do! I agree that if more were called out, they would feel less inclined to do it in the future. I think the key is to say what needs to be said, and move on. I have had times when I was hot or tired and let rude guests get me down, but I think it's important to remember how fortunate I am to be in the Happiest Place on Earth, and not let the rudeness of others affect my attitude. :)

This is my biggest pet peeve at any park, I can see if you are near the end of the line and there party is a few people in front of you, but if your waiting on line for like 10mins and people start trying to get in front of you saying my family is up there and they are teenagers or adults, I'm not letting you past.

I'm old school so the rule move your feet loose your seat applies, where were you 10mins ago. If my son has to go to the bathroom we all get off line and return at the end it's the way I was brought up.

Rules of most parks is line cutters will be ejected from park, how many times have you actually seen it happen:confused3. I would love to be in charge of line cutting enforcement, there would be alot less line cutting and alot of clapping, I consider line cutting as a mild form of bullying and if they get away with once they continue to do so.

At WDW you are at the Happiest Place On Earth, so everyone should play nice in the sandbox:confused3

Getting off soapbox now!

I could not BELIEVE the number of people--adults--who shoved past us in the Soarin line at EPCOT last summer. Clearly, they had sent their families ahead to stand in line while they went and got Fastpasses somewhere else. They practically stomped all over my 74 year old mother to get past us, too. By the end of our trip I had my elbows out and weren't NOBODY getting past me!

Only 1 child Hound? When my girls were young enough to need me to go with them we didn't go to DL but we did go to our local 6 Flags, if 1 DD needed to use the bathroom I took them both.....but then again we all did that before we got in a line or we all got out of line at that time. :)

What i meant to type is that it only takes one adult to take one (or two...or possibly even three...little ones for a quick potty stop).

One smiling dad bringing a 3 y/o & a 5 y/o back from a potty break to join mom & their 7 y/o sister....wouldn't cause anyone to say a word. (i wouldn't think.) Nor would you & your two daughters joining the rest of your family Pixie. :)

But having an adult & three teens "escorting" a 7 y/o back to an Alice & Wonderland line (talking about how cool Matterhorn just was) with one adult "holding their place"....would. (Which i think is the type of line cutting that most of us would have a problem with.)

My main point is that I usually say something (to line cutters).....sternly....& loud enough to be heard (& preferably in range of a CM). I don't "confront" & i don't let it bother me or affect my next 5 minutes...let alone my day.

(fwiw, I do the same thing with litterers & people who don't hold doors open for woman....but then again i'm a non-conforming dinosaur. ;))

I figured that was what you meant. :) I was just giving you a hard time. :)
and I wish more dinosaurs were out there, I make my girls run ahead and open doors for elderly or handicapped people, they are so good at now I rarely have to remind them. :)

I say something as well, normally when I'm close to a CM to be overheard and it's not said snarkily just said. Most times CMs don't do anything about it but sometimes they say something. :)

well. it was said that when they shove a whole family just to get into the front of the line--that bugs me.. its like come on we were here before you, just suck it up an wait like everyone esle! :)
