So for those that are finding this thread for the first time....welcome!

The DisMeets group for the 5/19/2012 Fantasy Eastern voyage has been well-established...and it is an awesome group of people. We are a big group and continually expanding!

We had a thread going and then decided to create a 'directory' or role call on page one, but ran out of picture room. As a result, the first three entries in this thread are for room call/role call, and are split by DisBoard name as follows:

There are a lot of good threads thruout DisBoards that cover the FE topic (see links at the end of this post).

Essentially, the way I understand it is....it's a way to share a gift to others that are participating----homemade items, usually Disney or travel group themed, or items that are indicative of your home area. Useful items seem to be appreciated, but then again, I believe all items are appreciated. It's your choice as to whether you give something that is 'per stateroom' or 'per cruiser'----with our size group, it might be best for us to adopt a guideline on that.

We are looking forward to it....you can find custom-made fish extenders on eBay or Etsy.com, or make one!

On the FE issue. As long as we all know that you're in two rooms with only one FE then we should be ok. I can put a note on the spreadsheet so folks know to look at both rooms for the FE. If you are doing TWO FEs, then I'll create two entries for you. Last cruise there was a mixup because there were two rooms on one line. We all thought that meant the two rooms would participate as one. When we got there, there were two FEs, so everyone was one gift short. And I'm not sure if everyone received gifts from both rooms, so we sort of thought that maybe the recipients were trying to double up on receiving gifts with only giving one. If you go with two FEs (one for the adults, one for the children) I'll note it on the spreadsheet so there won't be a mixup.


Our only guidelines so far seem to be:

You must give at least ONE gift per stateroom. If you want to give gifts per person, or more than one gift per stateroom that is MORE than OK!

We will have a cut off day somewhere around 1 month out so you can get all the gifts ready and not have to worry about last minute additions.

Gifts must be delivered between (some starting time, need time for folks to get their FEs up) and (some ending time the day before disembarkation) so folks can get gifts packed up before putting luggage out the last night.

For newcomers, let me bring you up to speed.

We've been using this entry for gathering names for our DisBoard group. We had an open submission period where name suggestions were offered; that is now closed. All of the names have been gathered, and we opened a poll for voting. 100 votes into the voting, we hit a brick wall. The website we were using stopped allowing votes, indicating an upgrade to a paid account ($199/annually) is necessary to continue.

We bailed.

We debated.

We brainstormed.

And ultimately, in the effort to be as fair as possible to everyone, I'm kicking off the new poll. Please continue reading....

Here is what I posted as an intro to the survey.....

Sooo.....we have changed polling sites.....and www.kwicksurveys.com seems to be a pretty great site. I'm assured that it is free and unlimited, so let's get this ball rolling!

I saved off the results from the prior polling site that 'gotcha'd' us with an upgrade fee and limited number of votes. We can still factor in those votes in the final tallies.

Voting is unlimited, and multiple answers per submission is the name of the game. I will leave this poll open until (tenatively) 7/31/2011, at which time the results will be collected, and we will kick off a second-stage survey of the top ten vote-getters and end with a winner. That second round of voting will be limited to one vote-----that vote will likely be submitted by Private Message----one vote per DisBoard name, because each of the poll sites can limit to one vote per submission, but do not seem to be able to limit to one submission per IP address, etc. Actually, it can be Private Message or we can just post your top 1 choice on the thread; we have nothing to hide, right?

Because we are kicking this off on a new site, I have included the new name suggestions by our new friends, 'boomerang4', that play on the fact that our cruise is the Fantasy's eighth outing.

So...barring any more crazy events....I am BACK!!!

We made it through this week with flying colors. My procedure went well, I had my last iron infusion and hopefully am done with that mess for good. I am still healing and trying to take it easy (not something I am used to) but should be back to normal in no time.

Sabrina's first two doctor's appointments are done and we have a good idea of a plan for the next few months. She has one more doctor to visit in Houston before we decide for sure but right now it looks like she will go into a nighttime brace. She will be checked in 3 months and if the brace is holding well, we will continue that course of treatment. If it isn't, we will look at surgery or a full time brace. I figure we will cross that bridge when we get to it. We did run a genetic test on her that is very accurate when the results come back low. The idea is that the lower the score, the less likely it is that her scoliosis will progress so no need to brace at all. We are hoping for a very low score!!!

For now, am going to get back to normal (or at least try) and think about our summer vacation plans (no Mickey unfortunately).

Awesome update Mati....the Rogers crew here in St. Charles, MO are hoping for low numbers also! Continue to recouperate, but remember that the DisBoards can be very therapeutic (and should be in EVERY doctor's course of treatment!).
