How long is your daily commute?

Your replies are making me feel a lot better about this! To add a few details - it is my dream job, and I'm super stoked about it, so much that the stress of commute wasn't even a concern until so many of my friends started bringing it up.

The good thing about the commute is that I'll be traveling the opposite way that everyone else is in the morning - leaving Los Angeles and driving toward Anaheim. There are only a few bottleneck sections where freeways merge, but it's nothing like the bumper to bumper that you deal with heading into Los Angeles. And the good thing with LA/Anaheim is that there is rarely rain, and absolutely no snow. I was also thinking that I could leave early in the morning and go to the gym in Anaheim before work, and after work maybe go hang out in Disneyland during rush hour.

Good point brought up about the car insurance going up - I've had my car for three years and only put 10,000 miles on it, so I'm paying the lowest rate right now. I need to calculate my new weekly mileage.

I currently commute about 45 minutes one way. It used to be about 40 minutes, but traffic has increased on my route over the last few years so it's longer now. I work with people who used to drive in DC traffic and it would take them an hour or more one way, so I console myself with that. :D I listen to a lot of podcasts, books on tape and The Great Courses to pass the time.

2 1/2 hours each way. Driven to commuter rail. Walk to subway. Subway downtown. Walk to next train. Path train to NJ. Walk to office. I do this Monday to Thursday and can work at home on Friday. My commute used to be 1 1/2 hours each way on the commuter rail to Grand Central but my company moved in June. I'm retiring next year and love what I do so there was no sense in finding another job.
:faint: Wow, your company is very lucky to have someone as dedicated as you! The only way I could justify a commute like that would be if I could get a lot of work done during the transit and not have to stay in an office for a full work day.

I'm retired now but my longest commute was about 35 minutes, for many years it was only about 15 minutes. I also spent several years working from home which was delightful.:thumbsup2

When I taught the school was a mile away. :) Now I'm retired and do travel a couple of times a week to a nearby casino which is 17 miles away.

I'm with the company 37 years and have had many opportunities. I hold a key role now and they are starting to realize it will be difficult to find someone with my skills. Company policy is only one day a week for work at home. I'm hoping they will reconsider my situation after the holidays.

It kind of depends on the day, I sometimes have to go to different locations. At my typical assignment now, it takes usually 17 minutes to get there... unfortunately I have seen it take like 40 minutes to get home, but usually the trip home is about 25 minutes.

9 miles/20 minutes across country roads. It's easy. When I lived 18 miles north of Boston, I'd leave the house at 7:05 to be in Kenmore Square for 9am: Drive to the subway station, take the blue line from Wonderland to Government Center, swap to the Green Line out to Kenmore Square, walk to the building. Almost 2 hours commuting on either end of the day... UGH.

About 20 minutes, depending on traffic & all on city streets. The past few years it was 45-50 minutes and mostly major highways so I prefer this much more.

An hour at a minimum if I leave at 0500. After that it inches up to about 90 minutes. Coming home 90 minutes. Throw in some rain and we are good for almost 2 hours.

I grab a coffe on the way past McD’s, listen to the news then turn on some Spotify. I find that I have actually gotten less road ragey - lol. If traffic isn’t moving it isn’t moving and me changing lanes, getting angry just isn’t worth it. Who knew traffic could make me calmer

For the first time in my life, I live less than 2 miles from my workplace. After years of living in big cities and dealing with commutes, I can't believe how much of a difference it makes in my quality of life!

Takes me ~4 minutes. I usually drive through Starbucks and most mornings, that adds about 5 minutes.
