Remember, your old cruise clothes won't do for this cruise though!!

That's a problem that I haven't even started thinking about. I guess I'll have to order all new clothes and then just pack them directly into the suitcase when they arrive. Out with the old, in with the new. I'll send all the old to goodwill.

I will have to budget for a new wardrobe though.:lovestruc

Monica, way to go on the 3 1/2 lbs. I'm hoping for a loss this week. I have a friday weight in at my ww meeting.

I am also scheduled for a sleep study tomorrow night. My Dr. wants me to have a second study due to my 50lb loss. He thinks I might be able to get off my CPAP machine. :woohoo:

Venetia -

Good luck with both the weigh in and the sleep study. Keep us informed. I'm a little nervous about the study--never had one before. I do know that my dad sleeped A LOT better w/ his CPAP.

50lb loss is AMAZING!

I was nervous the first time I had a study done. But there is nothing to worry about. They set you up in a room that looks like any typical bedroom. They do hook you up with moniters. Kind of wired up. But they explain what they are doing. I actually found it to be very interesting. My first time they monitered my sleep with out the CPAP and then woke me up, set me up with the cpap and monitered me with the machine. You will have no problems.:goodvibes

What is the reason they want you to have a study. Do you have the symptoms of sleep apnea?

I'm exhausted all the time....could even put my head back when I'm driving and could probably be asleep w/in minutes (not a good thing). I know I snore sometimes so could be sleep apnea. I'm not anemic or have a problem w/ my thyroid so I think they're just trying something else to see why I'm so tired all the time.

Hi Marilyn, Mine is set to May 8th, as that's the day we fly to florida. And my vaca starts the minute I leave work on thurday afternoon. We are taking the red eye out of LA.

We are leaving Scotland on 8 May too as it will be long journey for us!!

My primary Dr. diag. my thyroid first and thought that was why I was tired all the time. But once we got my meds dialed in for the thyroid, and I was still tired all the time, she recommened I see a sleep specialist. And bingo.I have sleep apnea. I would actually fall asleep driving. I caught myself the first time it happend, and then Bubba would not allow me to drive. I would fall asleep with in minutes, even as a passenger. Bubba once got a speeding ticket on our way to the Sierras for a fishing vacation. He said it was my fault he got it cause I was the navigator.:lmao: and I was sleeping on the job. I would also fall asleep at my desk twice a day. My boss was really great about it. Cause he knew it wasnt just my being lazy.

ok, I hope our remote comes today. Ours took one beating too many and will not work...getting up to change the channel is no fun!

Must say that it feels really good having you tell me this...makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one.

I was really surprised how many people do suffer from sleep apnea. There was a thread on the main cruise board where someone asked about bringing their cpap machine and so many people responded that they too have to use the machine. So no you are not alone by any means. :grouphug:

So behind, but had a moment to read a couple pages. The weather in Maui is just fantastic - a lot better than back home in California! We went on a sunset whale watching cruise last night, just beautiful. On Sunday, we watched the PGA Mercedes-Benz golf tournament - very exciting as it was the last day. Today, it is our actual anniversary (15). We rented one of the cabanas by the pool/ocean and will sit and do nothing all day!

Are you getting something for the girls from Shirley? Since our only DCL cruise was to Mexico, we didn't have an opportunity to use her, but I've heard only wonderful things!
We used her last January - we sent a whole bunch of pirate stuff to her ahead of time and she added those things to the basket (costumes and such). The kids loved them.

Just finished reading and I just wanted to say good night. Been at the hospital all day. My DH had to be at church.

Frank is in a lot of pain, but out of the coma. He had two shots of morphine while I was there.

Good night all!!
Lisa
Hope Frank is not in pain anymore...they have so much medicine hopefully they can get the right plan in place....Prayers are with you and him and your family.
I would like to get a basket for John, so would be interested in some ideas for a guy. I was trying to get one for our last cruise but Shirley just didn't get back to me. Eventually when I emailed again she was going to get some ideas for me then never came back to me again!!!!! It will have to be done by email, and I think that must have been the problem. If I had some ideas and prices then I could phone perhaps.

How lovely to be in Hawaii. Enjoy your trip and bring back some piccies.
Thanks for the wishes about Hawaii - it is wonderful!

With a "guys" basket - I was thinking about sending Shirley a sports watch to put in a basket - my DH could use a sturdy watch, maybe Nike or something. And then some candy and such. I think you can put beer in, but my DH doesn't drink.

Last week I started the Big Love DVDs and I didn't realize I picked up Vol 3 of the First series so of course I had to go back and get the rest...4 more DVDs, ~ 10+ episodes. I'm trying not to get sucked in today... but the weather is making me not want to do my 20 commute to my office.

On the job front, great news! My juice client has hired an in house Controller/CFO, so I'm ready to turn it over, whew! I've held them about 3 more months than I would have liked. Once a company gets big enough for someone in house I really don't enjoy the work anymore. I'll have a hand off meeting tomorrow (hence I need to work today to clean it all up and make it tidy) but will still have to finalize the 2007 close. It's been a fun client to work with and I'll for sure enjoy the juice for time to come. I'll also pay myself as I head out and then prompty pay off the cruise :thumbsup2 that makes all the hard work worth it!
Love Big Love!!! I'm sure you will like it. I think I liked the second season better than the first.

Congrats on the job front!

Ok, off to the pool area for some breakfast. Happy Wednesday everyone!!! Lisa

Mishoe01,
I have sleep apnea, and also wear a c-pap mask (actually nasal pillow). I LOVE IT!!!!!! No one would prefer to wear one given a choice, but it's so much better than having complications of sleep apnea. I went through the study 3 months ago, and was very interested in it-I'm a nurse. Make sure you have them take a picture to show people what you looked like when they have you hooked up. It's almost frightening.:rotfl2: The procedure is non-invasive,and does not hurt. Make SURE you go to the restroom before you go to sleep, it's a trick getting unplugged to get up. You will probably be amazed at the number of times a night you wake-up, and also stop breathing--all without knowing it.
If you have to wear a sleep mask, check into the soft nasal pillows. They are very minimal to wear on your face. I tried the partial mask, and I couldn't get one small enough. Apparently my face is the ONLY part of my body that is small.:)
Also if you need the c-pap machine, and have a humidifier on it, call Disney Cruise Line or fax them a request, and they will provide you with a gallon of distilled water in your stateroom. That was so handy. If you have any questions, let me know. good luck... Vicki

my mom, she made it to work ok, Amber didn't I-4 is closed for 14 miles, there is a 50 car pile up, 3 people dead and many other accidents they can't get to. They had a controlled burn which got out of hand and with the smoke from that and the fog, there was pretty much no visibility. The pictures are awful, there is a semi on fire.

How terrible. Prayers for all those families.

You know, part of me still wants the machine. It's kind of like a securty blanket for me. My sleep apnea was one of the worst cases my Dr. had ever seen. I would stop breathing over 300 time per night. That's scary. So I kind of have it in my head that if I dont have the machine...well it would not be a good thing. If you know what I mean.

Dennis LOVES his machine! He stopped breathing 50 some times per hour, meaning almost every minute. He never, ever was in REM sleep. Boy did he dream for many nights after getting his machine. The doc told him his body would make up for the lost time. Anyway, he will not go anywhere without it. When we tent camped he took one of those battery charger things that can be used to start a car or as a power source. It would last 3 nights for him.

WOOO HOOOO We are going to be one healthy and good looking bunch of people for our group photo.....we still haven't determined where and when that's going to happen. Does anyone want to schedule it to lock it in? Where have you done them in the past? Do we wear our lime green?

We did it by the pools at 3 pm on embarkation day one year and that worked for many people to be able to show up. Then there is by the Mickey statue in the atrium that can work right between dinner shifts. We have used that site twice for Pirate night photos.
