Late July at YC using the Fun n Sun Discount. First trip to WDW in 14 years (but I've been to
Disneyland twice in the last 10 years).
I will keep the reservation until the cancel date, and I hate the bind I am in because we have no idea exactly how WDW will operate and what the crowd load will be with reduced hours. I always try to plan a day at WDW to snag early entry, and then retreat to a quieter park or water park during the middle of the day. I make use of the Lines app and strategic Fastpasses to see as much as possible.
Some reasons to cancel:
I have a Park Hopper and Water Parks on my tickets. I rely on park hopping up to three parks a day to maximize my WDW trip. I also have ADRs in multiple parks on the same day. My park plan is usually MK-HS-EC or MK-EC-HS, and sometimes AK-EC or HS-EC.
I was up at 7am the other day to get Fastpasses. They weren't available for some of the best rides, but I still reserved three per day, but as of today my Fastpasses have disappeared. Some of those Fastpasses were for rides my kids really want to be able to enjoy.
Even though my children are older, we still enjoy character interactions and my daughter was going to bring a scrapbook to collect autographs.
I have ADRs for several character meals--CP, 1900, GG, Cape May, Akserhus, etc. With no characters, are these venues really worth $60+ per person?
Will the water parks be open?
Wearing masks in the Florida sun seems uncomfortable, and useless, as this virus does not appear to live long in heat, humidity, or sunlight.
Wearing a mask anywhere at the resort hotel? Also, sounds uncomfortable, and a hassle given the very tiny danger of infection from walking past someone else in a hallway.
I am concerned that I am paying a whole lot of money for a sub-par experience. For what 4 nights and 5 days costs at WDW ($4,000+), I could have a really nice 2-week vacation elsewhere in Florida, or in California, or the Outer Banks, etc.
Reasons not to cancel:
No Brazilians at WDW this summer.
