Tracey & Neil's UK Fairytale Wedding * A TON OF UPDATES PG 7*

Wow, what a huge update! I love what you've done. I think that style of bridesmaid dress is gorgeous. I do agree with you about the Prince Edward suit jacket - they are both very nice but I think the Prince Edward is a little more special and would be really cool for a wedding! But I'm sure Neil will look great no matter what. I'm also looking forward to seeing what else you come up with for the movie theme - I love the little clapboards!

Tracey I love the cake topper! We are having one made as we speak with all our cats on it with us. They make such a wonderful keepsake don't they.

Love all your plans so far. It will be here before you know it!

Thank You - You have to post a picture of yorus when you get it :thumbsup2

I was thinking only this morning that it seems like its ageeeeeeesssss away!

Your name cards are fab, love them. xx

Thank you:)

I Have Exciting news ...... MY DRESS IS IN!!!! :yay::yay::yay::yay:
I'm going to have a fitting this friday. Im not really looking forward to it totally because I am heavier than I was when I ordered it, so I think there may be tears!!!

Oh, has anyone seen the new Disney Fairytale Wedding Dresses yet? Apparently they are gorgeous!!! And they have brought out a bridesmaid range too. I've tried to find them on the net quickly this morning but can't find anything:confused3

Well, more about my family than my dress. I went for my first fitting on friday .... and whilst I absolute love my dress it doesnt feel full enough.

Even after seeing photos of it on me

Easy to sort - get a bigger petticoat:thumbsup2

But whenever I brought/bring it up my mum & sister just seem to shoot me down. I feel like they dont want me to have the wedding dress i've always dreamt of - they want it how they want it and wont even think about my dream :confused3

I thought it was just my sister but I just spoke to my mum and she just huffs and says "ohhhhhhh why are you going on about it"

I will be buying a bigger petticoat, but it would just be nice for them to support me. Even if they said we dont think you need it but if it makes you happier then thats fine.

I will not be bring it up again with them (if they bring it up i'll change the subject), and I won't be letting them know until the day that i've got a bigger petticoat.

I thought they were being funny because it was too big with the petticoat i've got, but after looking at the pictures, I really dont think its big at all, so it cant be that .....

I know with my sister its because she loves a-line dresses like her own, but can't they think about personal likes?

What do you all think?

I think your dress looks PERFECT!!! I really love the dress!!!

If you want a bigger peticoat then you need to go out and buy one... It's your wedding and if it's not big enough for you then make it bigger!!!

Hi Tracey, just read all through your PJ :-)

Your venue looks fantastic. I also have a shaped Ering and am thinking of a Russian style Wring to fit it.

As far as your dress - I love the AA collection and definitly think it deserves more petticoat. :thumbsup2

I think you look fab in your wedding dress, if you want a bigger petticoat then go for it. It's your dress & your dream! you need to feel comfortable in it.

It really is a beautiful dress :love:

I agree with all of the ladies above me: you look GORGEOUS!!! And, if you want more poof, get more poof!!! I think the wedding dress is the one area where you can say it's all about YOU and whatever the heck YOU want! You look gorgey now, and you will look gorgey with more poof too!

Thank you ladies, you are right, it is my dress and I shouldn't feel guilty for wanting it how I want. So I'm going to buy a bigger petticoat and will just surprise them on the day.

I just have to decide between the jupon 8 layer or 13 layer. Wish I could get both and try them to decide

We have an appointment on the 26th October for a tasting / Q&A session ... i'm so excited!!!

We are really struggling with what to have for the meal. At first we wanted Sausage and Mash, but a friend quite rightly pointed out that we are paying a set price for each meal, so sausage and mash would be a little bit of a waste, but now were not sure what we want.

Hopefully we'll come away with a more informed decision?

Well, even if no one is reading i'm going to update this as I want to print it all out afterwards and put it in my memory box

We have our tasting session tonight woo hooo - i'm excited :cool1:

Updates:

POST BOX
I have nearly finished our post box. I made 2 mistakes with the lid on the middle box but i've done it correctly yesterday while I was off work. I now have to decide where to put the ribbon round it, and print off our monogram and stick that on - then thats done and I can get started on the place cards/clapper boards

HONEYMOON
We are now looking at honeymoons!!!!! Were thinking of Bali - somewhere around the Ubud district, niether of us are worried about seeing sand and sea on this honeymoon. We've been to the Maldives and we really don't think anywhere will live up to that paradise, so were after some different scenery - the forests of Bali looks right up our street:thumbsup2 We cant book anything just yet because were waiting for our car to sell. A guy is supposed to be buying it this weekend, so once its gone, i can make Neil sit down and book something x fingers crossed x

DRESS
Oh, the dress drama ...... I ordered the biggest petticoat by a well known brand over here (13 layers of netting) to try with my dress, and its too big for my dress, so i've come to terms with the fact I wont have my ultimate dream dress for my wedding. I can't do anything about it because my parents bought me my dress and I refuse to upset and disrepect them by saying "I'm not wearing it", at the end of the day, its a gorgeous dress and sits well on me and pulls my waist in beautifully - its not a horrid dreass in eth slightest, its just not my dream :(

Yes i'm extremely upset ... upset with myself for not taking my time to decide how i REALLY felt in that dress .... upset with myself for being swayed by the dress shop (I hadn't made an order when the lady helping said she would give me the blingy braclelet I was borrowing at the time) ... upset that I thought I HAD to have a disney dress because I wasnt having my WDW wedding ... upset with the lady in the shop that she said we could make it bigger when it clearly can't be ... upset that I listened to my sister who was totally up for this and not the Ronald Joyce dress I loved everything about and was the size I wanted (i'm not upset with my sister, just upset that I took her feelings into consideration more than my own at the time)

I will be going back to the shop in January to try different things and see how much bigger the dress can go without it looking silly. I will forget about it until then as i'm so tired of thinking about it right now!!!

However, my h2b has said if i'm that upset about it, I can get another dress. normally i'd say no as i'm always amazed at these brides who change from their wedding dress into another less glamorous outfit for the evening and I've always said "How can they do it"? Well - now I know!

However, i've had a great idea - i'm going to get a black wedding/prom/ballgown for the evening. I always fancied being a little different but never had the guts because I knew i'd regret not having a "normal" wedding dress. So now i'm a little happier about the situation.

So, now i'm on the search for a big black dress.

FIRST DANCE
We have also decided on our first dance (he finally agreed to having one) - its going to be K C & Jojo - All my Life. Its very apt and seems to be over very quickly, so that suits us both ha ha

Awww Tracey. I'm so sorry you're upset about your dress. I know it doesn't help and my opinion doesn't matter (lol! you know what I mean!), but I do think you look absolutely beautiful in your Tiana dress. But, I know what you mean--- if it's not your dream dress, then it's not.

Did you see the Vera Wang black bridal dress collection she premiered? It's amazing; I think you'd love it. Also, Deena (LuvLuvLuv) posted some fabulous black dresses awhile back. Check them out!

Also, Bali sounds amazing! :lovestruc

No I didnt know Vera has just brought some black dresses out, i'm certain they are out of my price range but no harm in looking so i'll search the web now.... in the mean time, i've found this dress which I LOVE
BlackDress.jpg

I'll search for Deena's dresses now:thumbsup2

Aww, I'm so sorry to hear how you feel about the dress! I know what you mean about how it is when the dress shop tries to persuade you and all of that other stuff happens, but try not to be too upset with yourself over it - it was definitely on that end, and not yours. But I hope you find a beautiful black gown for the evening that will make up for it :goodvibes

I'm reading!! I'm all for black dresses... I wanted one soooooo bad, lol. I saw that article about Vera's new ones the other day!! I did order a black BM dress with my previous dresses deposit... but it's not in yet. It would be nice if they'd hurry, lol. I say go for it!!

I didnt know about Veras dresses until someone on here mentioned it. definiately out of my price range, and to be honest, not sure if I like any of them.

Im glad you have just mentioned about bm's - i've got my bm's in black dresses ..... do you think this will make a difference about me changing into a black dress????:confused3

Just a little update (to match the little quantities at the tasting session!)

GROOMSMEN SUITS
First of all, the grooms dad went for his suit measuring yesterday, and I don't know if there is a little confusion or not, but he showed him a black waistcoat (they are meant to be having ivory), and also there was mention of a black and white stripy tie!!!!!!! I don't know where that has come from? I know I have phoned to tell them we want white ties and hankies - neither are marked on our file! I'm not worrying too much at this point as I have to go in with my dad and brother in law for their measuring, so I will sit down and confirm EVERYTHING twice at that time.

TASTING SESSION
The tasting session wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't a real tasting session like you get at disney. This was more of a walk around, try the snacks & try bite size samples of some of our dishes. They only had 4 of each course out for people to try and they didn't seem to be in any rush to replace empty plates. However, I tried all of them (apart from Venison, I don't like it, so we're not having it), and Neil (the super fusser eater) tried more than he would normally too.

IMGP3374.jpg

To start the evening we spent some time talking to the bar guy who let us try various wines (well, I tried wines, Neil hates wine so he wasn't interested). However, while we stood there talking a lady came round with a tray full of different welcome drinks. I picked up the wine, and I somehow convinced Neil to try a bright pink drink ..... which he LOVED *Tracey is gob smacked*. It turns out to be Passion Fruit Fizz (a sparkling wine with passion fruit liqueur), so we are definitely having that as our Welcome Drink. The wines which will be on the table are nice and soft, so I'm happy with those, although I only tried the white medium & the red, but I'm sure the white dry and rose are fine.

* Pre warning - food porn isn't really "the thing" over here in the UK, so I never took pictures, sorry! *

There were 4 starters/appetisers to try:
*Game Terrine with Ciabatta bread
*Fish Cakes (to die for - were having these!)
*Brie and Red Onion puff pastry tart (probably going to have this)
*A Duck dish (but this was a whole breast!! I would have thought it would be too much for a starter!)

Then there were 4 main/entree dishes to try:
*Belly of pork (melt in the mouth, but far too much fat on it - probably why it was melt in the mouth!)
*Beef Wellington (Neil has never eaten steak and doesn't wish to, but he did try a little bit and really liked it, it was pure melt in your mouth. Our concern: Would it be melt in the mouth as a big chuck wrapped in pastry??? We're probably going to have this, but Neil will probably just try a little of mine if I have it)
*Venison (neither of us want this so we skipped it)
*Sea Bream (which was to die for also - seasoned to perfection! Probably going to have this. However, it normally comes on a butternut squash puree, we will change this to some sort of mash potato)

There was no chicken dish which Neil wants, so we spoke to the chef who says he does a nice Chicken stuffed with bacon and leeks in a mushroom sauce - we will probably go with something like that as one choice.

There were only 3 examples of dessert which was disappointing, but the one's we REALLY wanted to try were there:
*Bitter Chocolate torte (such heavy chocolate, but Neil loved it - so defo having this)
*Honey and Sultana Bread & Butter Pudding (absolutely gorgeous - defo having this)
*Plum Crumble - it was nice, but not wow
Were going to have a trio of ice cream or a cheesecake as our third choice

Of course, none of this is set in stone until we have our meeting so it could all change!!

THE DRESS
I've had another thought;) I'm going to speak to a friend of a friend who apparently is an excellent dress maker about changing the back of my dress to match the back of the black one I'm thinking about. If its possible to make it look the same I'm going to get him to alter my dress, otherwise I'm probably going to go with the black one for the evening. I would rather get mine altered to look like it, but if he says its impossible and could mess the whole dress up, then i'll just get the black one. So either way, I WIN!!!! :o) ha ha ha

WOW - That update was longer than I thought!

All of the food sounds super yummy -you're making me hungry! The wines sound good, and especially that passion fruit fizz! I also like your solution to the dress situation. Keep us updated!

I have to say, i think I may have a few of those before walkign down the aisle:rotfl:

I did a few wedding things this weekend

I went to get my wedding ring set around the engagement ring. Its lovely, but its not exactly how I wanted it - as usual whatever I want is always impossible! I think personally it was only impossible because he'd already cut and shaped the ring and it would have meant he would have to start from scratch! BUT, I do like it and i'm not upset about it like the dress situation, so i'm just going with it

But the thing i'm most excited about is my dress ......

My brilliant H2B sold his car at the weekend and has said he will pay to have the alteration done on my dress.

I got one quote from someone who was notoriously expensive - he quoted a minimum of £500. I don't want to pay that sort of amount, so i'm going to get a few more quotes with recommended seamstress/dress designers.

I will be a little nervous handing it over to get chopped about, but Im very excited to have a dress of my dreams

I'm going to email a few ladies today and see what they say, so watch this space:banana: .......
