Overland Donner Bag

Wanted to let you know that I went on a field trip to the zoo yesterday, and the Overland Donner worked great! I was able to get all my necessities in it with no problem and room to spare, and everything was super easy to find.

Liked it so much that I went ahead and ordered the slate/plum to go along with my picante - now I have a color choice! LOL! :)

It's soooooo true Mrs. Disney Ron!! I could have kicked myself and now I"m thinking of giving the baggallini to my 13 yo dd but wait . . . she will see how much the Overland bag holds and probably not want to carry a bag as well knowing her princess: self!! I really can't wait to get it as I'd love to take it with me on the cruise!!

I am addicted to these Overland bags now. I was shopping in REI and saw the Overland Placer. Now after reading peoples comments about that smaller bag Overland bag I want to start a collection!;) It looks like same organization as Donner just smaller. I wouldn't mind a second color Donner either!! :rotfl: But that would be pushing it with my wonderful hubby.

We need to start Donner Anonymous Board.

Enjoy them ladies!

Add me to the list of Donner fans! I bought mine originally for a trip to Europe, because I wanted a bag that would organize everything, and still be comfortable and secure. I use it everyday! I'm thinking of getting a couple more colors. I still try to go bagless at Disney whenever I can, but the Donner is the bag when I carry one.

I have the black and got the slate/plum for my daughter (just incase I want a change as well - I can borrow it).

She has a field trip next month and I can't wait to use it again.

Add me to the list of fans of the Donner--I'm already eying one in another color, as I love this combination but would like one in black, too. I took mine on my recent trips to DL, and loved it. I was able to carry two 20 oz water bottles, and found out you can squeeze a larger water bottle into the side pockets.

In addition to the water, I was able to carry, my wallet, digital camera, 2 apples, 2 power bars, sunglass case, journal or paperback book, and small sunscreen. I didn't have any problem with the strap digging into my shoulder, but I'm sure luggage stores sell padded strap attachments.

My only teeny complaint concerns the zippered pocket on the tri-fold portion of the bag, which is outside the bag's main compartment. It works perfectly to hold your passes, driver's license, a credit card. But I also started to throw loose change in there, which I had to stop doing because of the way the pocket works. Since the pocket folds UP, the coins float to the top of the zippered pocket. So whenever I would open the zippered pocket to get something, I had to remember to shake the coins back into the bottom; when I didn't, the coins would scatter everywhere. I couldn't remember to do so, so I ended up throwing my loose coins into my pocket or the bottom of the bag. Just a small (change) detail, but it's worth knowing about. Now I'll carry a change purse inside the bag.

I've already posted these on another thread on bags--I'm a long-time Donner lover and promoter--but I'll post them here. The bag in the pictures is holding (for a size reference) both a Birnbaum's Guide and an UG, and the left-side pocket has a 20 oz soda in it. The strap can be extended or shortened.

Thanks everyone for the tips on Shoebuy and the discounts. I ordered it on Sunday and it arrived on Thursday. It is perfect. I like the fact that the waterbottle pockets on the side have vents at the bottom so drips don't collect on the bottom.

My MIL has seen it and now wants to order one for her WDW trip.

Love my Donner bag it holds my Passporter, I was not sure if it was going to fit in the bag with all the other stuff I have put in there. I also ordered the JoJo. I have been using the jojo for everyday. I am using the Donner for baseball games. I will be using both in a couple of days for Disney.:woohoo: Thanks for all the info on the bags. Can't wait to give a report when I get back.

Here's a question for you. Have you found some sort of cover that can be used to pad the strap a bit? I find the webbing of the strap sort of scratchy on my neck and exposed shoulder and would like to cover it somehow. I know I could actually get out my sewing machine and make my own cover :rolleyes1 but time, effort, yada, yada. I MUCH rather buy something!:lmao:

Okay for all you out there that have used your Overland Donner bag at Disney here are my questions:

Is it comfortable? I am wondering since it does not have a padded strap. Does is cut into your shoulder or neck area?

Will it be big enough to fit the following: Digital camera, sunscreen, tickets, 1 auto books, 2 pens, money, possible change of clothes for 4 year old?

I am torn between this bag and the L.L. Bean Turbo Sling.

I found mine very comfortable. I carried all the needs of my 5 month old DS. It worked out great to take with us on rides.:thumbsup2 I think any bag if overstuffed becomes a bit awkward.

I bought this tote, it's huge! But I've been hearing such reviews on this Overland Donner bag which would be better. I am bringing 4 kids, 20,12,6,4 and we are driving back and forth each day an hour each way for four days, due to location of husband's business event.

Would a Donner bag carry all of these? I am an overly-prepared kind of person.

Credit cards, money, ID's, Cell phones, video camera, digital camera, bug spray, sunscreen, small first aid kit, rain ponchos (still in small baggies) hand santizer, extra batteries, Ids' maps, change of clothes for 6 and 4, plastic zip locs, baby wipes, small bottle of detergent (got advise from other site for accidents that need to be washed out) snacks; fruit snacks, dried fruit, crackers, yogos, ...bottle of bubbles for line waiting. First aid in a zip loc with bandaids, benedryl (bug bite itches) pepto for kids.

The bambi bag goes over the shoulder...how does the donner bag fit? shoulder, back, cross the chest..(hate those..not the most attractive look for me..lol)

Well the overland donner bag has been ordered..I couldn't resist. All the praises of it I hope it is big enough and works for me. I got it in the sand. I got 6 dollars off thanks to the code on here. I hope it will do what I need it to do. :)

We just got home and I LOVED the Donner bag. It worked out great.
I carried:
digital camera
large bottle of sunscreen
1 or 2 water bottles
ID, cash, photo pass & tickets
map & schedule
autograph book
liquid allergy med for dd
1 med bottle with tylenol, advil, kids tylenol, pepcid & benadryl
travel size wipes
cell phone
2 glow cubes
post its
fruit snacks
2 prs dry socks (1 kid 1 adult)
4prs of glasses
I was able to attach hats to the strap of the bag without a problem

It was not hard to carry. I did have a change of clothes in the bag at first but after adding the meds & sunscreen that had to go. I also had 2 thin nylon backpacks that stayed with the carriage to carry 5 jackets & change of clothes for dd on the late nights.

I have been using my Aloe OD for a couple of days now. I love the color it is not as bright lime green as it looked in the pictures. I was hoping to put my leather Passporter and my Canon Powershot S3 IS but I don't think that the camera will fit and if it does nothing else will and it will be difficult to get it in and out. Joanne, what kind of digital camera do you have? I am trying to get a size comparision. It just doesn't seem like it will fit that much. It is very comfortable to carry BTW. Let me post some pictures...

Luckily my DH insisted on getting a large pack because he can carry towels, ponchos, yada yada yada...

OOOH LIKE CHRISTMAS! My overland bag has been shipped and will be here tomorrow!! I ordered it on the 27th, amazing delivery time and it was free shipping! Oh I'm so excited I can't wait to see how it holds everything!!

Just Back and cannot say enough wonderful things about this bag!:thumbsup2 I used it for 7 days straight and NEVER did the strap bother me! I put the following in it each day...

2 water bottles
large bottle of spray sunblock
travel pack of tissues
2 inhalers
cash
4 park passes
digital camera
4 pair of sunglasses
ziploc bag with tylenol, travel pack of wet ones, lip sunblock, gum&lipgloss
2 autograph books w/pens
2 small Mickey fans
photopass card

It was incredible how accessable everything was, that front mesh zip pocket was a great place for our park passes and photopass card... It was so easy to whip them out for fastpasses and to give to the photographer for pics! Another bonus was that the bag fit into every storage compartment on the rides, it was soooo nice not to have a bulky backpack:)
The strap is adjustable too, so I'm sure you can make it comfortable for whatever your height is. Also, mine got wet on Splash Mountain(because we got absolutely soaked) and nothing inside got wet and the best part was that the bag dried in a matter of minutes because of the fabric! Obviously, I am a huge fan of this bag!:yay:

Thanks so much for your review. It will be awhile till I can use mine in disney but I use it almost everyday at home so it's definately worth the money.
