once you sign up for the whole wine pairing...cost goes out the window...

speaking of elaborate dinners...I have a group of couples that gets together once a month and hosts a whole gourmet dinner/wine kind of thing. Well, the host for April has decided to recreate the last dinner on the Titanic!! :scared1::scared1:
Each couple is now responsible for one of the courses and the wine accompaniment. I am waiting for my assignment...but just looking at the total menu...I can't even decide which course I am hoping for!! :rotfl:

It is! About $60 a bottle here. I can't imagine what it would cost at V&A

I have yet to find a wine list...

I bet it will be fun...this is one these groups where it's always a lot of laughs...some of themes over the years I have been just crazy....

And, speaking of crazy, Bill (who has grown a moustache & goatee/which I like) decided to trim it this morning...but instead of using a little scissor..he tries trimming his moustache with a razor! :scared1: He just came downstairs....and he looked like Hitler!! He accidentally shaved the sides off. I was laughing so hard. I wanted to take a picture...but he skulked away to go shave it off!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

OK - off to meet Tammi for lunch. See y'all later! :)

I haven't found a wine list either...so I will have to really think about the appropriate wine...

I want to go wine tasting/out to lunch :)

Waaa Waaaa I want to go too. Hal asked me about a month ago if I wanted to go on a wine tasting for York county which is just across the river from us. Of course I said yes. This week, I asked him what time it was and his answer was that since people at work forgot about it and did not get tickets, we were not going. I was so crushed. I really needed to go and just get out and have fun.
He is really on my s*%# list right now.

June, July and December cannot come soon enough.

How do you keep something from a friend, but at the same time keep your promise to the friends mother?

One of my friends(I have known her for 30 years)sister is not doing well. Hospice has been called in & the mother is staying with her in St Louis. My friend went to see her sister last week & was told that she probably has a few months. Today I receive an email from the mother telling me that she was told today that she probably has only a week if even that. She is coming home tomorrow to take care of a couple of things & then will head back. She does not want me to say anything to my friend, she wants to tell her when she gets home tomorrow.

My friend works part time where I work & will be there in the morning. How am I suppose to face her knowing this & not able to say anything? I feel horrible & I know we will be talking about her sister, she is really tore up abut this. I am friends with her mother, I am sure that is why she emailed me & I know the sister as well. My heart is breaking for them all(the sister is only in her 40's).

I won't say anything, but it will be so hard facing here tomorrow :sad1:

I hope you were able to make it through the day! I think it's terrible for members outside the family know more then direct kin. But then they have thier reasons, I guess. If it were me, I'd not say anything either, but when the sister/friend were to say anything, I'd encourage her to spend the time with her family and besure they talk before it's too late.

Hmm - don't know if there's a website anywhere, but there are a few threads on the Resorts board.

Which resorts are you guys looking at?

The basic gist is the "free" food and drinks (some lounges offer more stuff/times throughout the day than others), the pre-planning services (through the Itinerary Planning Office, or "IPO" for short), turn-down service, robes, etc. Some club levels also offer some special things to their guests (like the AKL's Sunrise or Wanyama Safaris). Any concierge guest at Disney can book the Wildlife Discovery Excursion, which is a slower tour through the Kiliminjaro Safari ride.

Rooms on club levels are usually grouped in a similar area, relatively close to the lounges, and usually these floors have to be accessed with a key. The on-site concierge staff can help with arrangements while at the resort, arrange special surprises, etc. You generally have a private check-in either in the lounge or in your guest room so you don't have to deal with the regular lines. Packages from the parks are delivered back to your room directly instead of the gift shop.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Planning is the best part! :yay:

Thanks!! and in the words of Cassidy "coool":rotfl2:

She is looking mainly at AKL and WL...we are wilderness girls at heart.

ahh man I am so sorry about friend and her family. Just be there for her.

Has anyone here had kidney stones? I went to work Friday and could barely move my back. I never thought a thing about it, becuase I have back issues. But when I worked on Saturday, I could tell the pain was in my back, wasn't my back. I went to the Dr. and he's an idiot. But he ordered blood work and did an ekg, so I'm somewhat happy. He never asked me what I was there for. Finally he asked me what prescriptions I wanted refilled and I told him it had to do with the pain in back. He just kept telling me to stretchs for my back if I'm not better in a month to come back. I'm sure I saw his medical certificate hanging on the wall. I'll just give it some time for the blood work to get through and go see the other Dr. in the office.

I was just wondering what symptoms to look for.

Can I ask for some pixie dust for my cousin Joe? My mom just called and he was in a car accident late last night. He is in the hospital with a concussion and injuries to his back. He does not remember what happened at all. I really wish we weren't so far away.

Poor Joe!!
