DDA Chapter 5

Can I ask for some pixie dust for my cousin Joe? My mom just called and he was in a car accident late last night. He is in the hospital with a concussion and injuries to his back. He does not remember what happened at all. I really wish we weren't so far away.
:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I think my sisters and I are destined to fight. The 2 of them seem to have major entitlement issues, and I will not put up with that. I can handle my mother's affairs without being tempted to dip into her money, which is good becasue there won't really be anything to dip into. Having dealt with multiple AIDS clients I know what services exist and I am savvy enough to find them. My sister, on the other hand, was the one who signed our father into a private pay hospital when he was uninsured instead of having him transferred to the VA. She didn't want him at the VA. She's not practical, and she makes bad decisions. LOTS of bad decisions.
Good Luck dealing with them!:wizard:

In case anyone is interested, here is the menu Kristine will be enjoying
I might be able to bring the peas or boiled rice.:rotfl:

OK - off to meet Tammi for lunch. See y'all later! :)
Have fun!

She is looking mainly at AKL and WL...we are wilderness girls at heart.
I've heard really good things about AKL concierge!

Has anyone here had kidney stones?
Sorry no advice but hope you can find some relief!!!:wizard:

OK I am signing off to do my taxes!!!!

Waaa Waaaa I want to go too. Hal asked me about a month ago if I wanted to go on a wine tasting for York county which is just across the river from us. Of course I said yes. This week, I asked him what time it was and his answer was that since people at work forgot about it and did not get tickets, we were not going. I was so crushed. I really needed to go and just get out and have fun.
He is really on my s*%# list right now.

June, July and December cannot come soon enough.

We would have loved to have you along! But, sadly, no wine was tasted (although I did buy 2 bottles to bring home!). Tammi and I were both so full from lunch that there wasn't room for another drop, even free good wines. :sad2:

This place is opening a tapas bar later this year. Maybe you and a few other DDA folks who live relatively close to Fredericksburg could come down here for a couple of days and we can do touristy things here and go out to eat downtown. There are so many places that are fun and reasonably priced. Tammi and I would love to "host" a meet! Wouldn't we, Tammi? :rotfl:

Has anyone here had kidney stones? I went to work Friday and could barely move my back. I never thought a thing about it, becuase I have back issues. But when I worked on Saturday, I could tell the pain was in my back, wasn't my back. I went to the Dr. and he's an idiot. But he ordered blood work and did an ekg, so I'm somewhat happy. He never asked me what I was there for. Finally he asked me what prescriptions I wanted refilled and I told him it had to do with the pain in back. He just kept telling me to stretchs for my back if I'm not better in a month to come back. I'm sure I saw his medical certificate hanging on the wall. I'll just give it some time for the blood work to get through and go see the other Dr. in the office.

I was just wondering what symptoms to look for.

I'm pretty sure that I've passed a couple of stones. I get back pain and a UTI or at least the feeling that I have one. It can be really bad, but once the stone passes it goes away quickly. You can go to your local pharmacy and get an over the counter med that will help to numb the urinary tract. I don't remember the name, but my doctor told me about it.

Our progress pretty much came to a screeching halt today. First was bowling. We came home planning to sand the ceiling, but the repairs were not dry (24 hours later :rolleyes1 ) Chris ended up painting Hunter's trim while Hunter and I went out to pick up some curtains to go with the new bedding. He ended up choosing Lime Green as it is one of the colors in the bedding. We couldn't find a blue to match. He also picked out a new alarm clock and we bought a poster frame for a Pokemon poster. The poster he has came in a magazine so it has many creases. He is hoping to find a new one that he loves to replace the one that we framed. Overall he is happy. We have decided that when we empty his room to install the flooring we will need to paint his ceiling. It didn't look too bad until you put all these new bright colors in there. Now it looks bad.:headache:

Hopefully we will be able to sand tomorrow morning and get things moving again. At least my allergies get a break for a day :thumbsup2

I'm thinking it's Kidney, becuase it's similar to what I went through with GallStones. My BFF gets them, but I can't judge by her, she gets them so bad, she ends up in the hospital for a few days.

I just want to make sure it's not something very serious.

Thanks everyone for responding.

You bet your bippy we would! When the kids aren't here I have 3 extra bedrooms.

Lunch with Elin was wonderful, as usual. We spent almost 2 hours eating and chatting. Then I wasted the rest of the afternoon at Kohl's. I must have tried on close to 15 things, and left without buying anything. Have I mentioned that I hate shopping?

Thanks!! and in the words of Cassidy "coool":rotfl2:

She is looking mainly at AKL and WL...we are wilderness girls at heart.

I would say go for AKL! I have heard great things about their IPO and lounge staff, and the foods they serve come from Boma and Jiko. Plus, you have the opportunity for the different safaris if you want them. All concierge rooms are now a guaranteed savannah view, so that is awesome, too! :thumbsup2

Jonathan and I are trying this in December. I will be sure to take lots of pics for you! I think Kristine has done it as well - and Elizabeth will do it this summer!

Robyn - I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin! Let me know if there's anything I can do locally. :wizard: Find out what caterer he was working for - just curious if I should keep an eye out for him with my work stuff. The Candyland invite was awesome!!

Elin and Tammi - glad to hear you had an enjoyable lunch! :goodvibes

Kristine - I think if I were you, I'd hope for the 2nd course. Either way, that is a ton of food! We have a group of friends that does themed dinners from time to time, but we've never done anything quite so fancy. I would have paid dearly to see Bill's mustache "woops"!

Debbie - glad to hear you're feeling better! :wizard:

Sally - lots of :wizard: :wizard: that the pain goes away, and you figure out what's going on!

Deb - sorry the progress has halted, but maybe a rest was in order.

Elizabeth - sorry to hear your sisters won't be much help. Your mom is lucky to have you.  I know this is the fate that awaits me - my brother will be worthless in situations like this. :sad2:

You guys were a chatty bunch today! :wizard:  :yay: for anyone I inadvertently missed.

I've been lurking over on the boutique thread. I would really love to make Emma a Cars shirt for our trip. I used to sew quite a bit before I had kids. I made friends kids clothes, myself a few simple things and even a Christening gown.

Maybe if I finish my taxes tomorrow I'll "reward" myself with a trip to JoAnn's.

Go for it!

Bob and I just got back from breakfast at Bob Evans. We have not eaten there in years! Tons of people eating there were on their way to DC for the Cherry Blossom Festival. It is beautiful outside, until you actually GET outside. It is only 40 degrees here and the wind is blustery so it feels like it is in the 20s. Not the best day to be on the Tidal Basin looking at trees!

I just looked at some gorgeous pictures of this years' festival. We want to go sometime! :goodvibes

Can't wait til we can do it again!

Sometimes it's the little things that make you happy :rotfl2: A lot of people are doing it for 1st birthdays. I've gotten a lot of great ideas off the web. I just hope the actual party lives up to my lofty ideas :rotfl:

I'm sure it will be fabulous! :) I will add Joe to my prayer list, please let us know how he is doing!

OK - off to meet Tammi for lunch. See y'all later! :)

I hope you ladies had a wonderful time!

I was just wondering what symptoms to look for.

A lot of times the only time they cause symptoms is when they move into the urinary tract, when you have sudden pain on one side of the back, which sometimes radiates to the side or abdomen. Sometimes you can have nausea or vomiting with it. When the stone moves down farther (if it's going to), you can have blood-tinged urine and/or pain when urinating.

Regardless, I sympathize with your frustration on back pain being blown off. I have had the same problem with a doctor I usually love -- it's just so easy to assume "back pain" is a lumbar strain or something, even when sometimes it's completely unrelated. I hope you feel better soon! :wizard:

Well, I'm glad you at least had a nice break! :goodvibes

It took me many years to learn it and many, many episodes of Clean House & Clean Sweep! Peter's the man!

Kyle and I loved Clean Sweep!

Oh, no! I was hoping that you were in the right "mood" to shop! Darn it! I should have gone with you. ::yes::
