Amanda & Eric 03/03/10- WP/WHP/Sago Cay Centerpiece Ideas!

Rehearsal dinners are typically only for the bridal party..Tell him that if they all came to dinner then they would all come to the rehearsal and you don't want that!

Tell him grooms are just suppose to show up! Not get involved in the planning!! Doesn't he know that!!??:lmao:

We are also thinking about doing a rehearsal dinner at 'Ohana. I think it should just be bridal party and parents, Eric thinks we should throw a party for everyone since they came all the way to Florida...isn't that what the reception and DP are for?

I know I'm not having a Disney wedding, but it's still destination. I am having a welcome party the night (most) people are getting there, a beach party ("rehearsal"), then the wedding on Sat. I think it is a nice gesture and a nice ice breaker for those that don't know each other, however, when you are already paying for so much for your guests. And I'm not sure there would really be an "inexpensive" option to add on a place to grab drinks and appys with everyone.

It's all about what makes you happy. I think it would be nice to have a quiet dinner with just our parents. But no I had to choose to get married on a little island, so I'm stuck with everyone :rotfl:

I think that's DF's idea too! He want to do some kind of Welcome party...but we are trying to keep the budget down. Our other option would be some kind of public space and bring in our own food.

I wish Disney had a less expensive option that would let us invite everyone to a welcome dinner vs. a rehearsal dinner.

How about just welcome drinks, you pay for the first drink then everyone just buys there own?

i have heard of past brides who are staying in a Disney hotel meet up with their guests in their hotel bar area and have a ''come if you want'' drink, of which i think its just a meet n greet where you pay for your own drinks.

I agree its another big expense to add to the wedding - even if you did a BBQ on the beach, its still a hire fee and food fee even though i think its the cheapest way to have a welcome/rehersal dinner.

I am having everyone meet in a certain park one day- so we can all get our photos taken together as a group (lets just say in front of the castle) and then either go off in groups or go around together... and we are planning an outside disney theme welcome / rehersal dinner on idrive at th Golden Coral (we just love that place!)

We are having a rehearsal dinner that DFs dad is paying for just the bridal party and spouses at 'Ohana, but we have it on our trip it that anyone else who would like to join the party is welcome on their own dollar. Good luck with figuring something out.

hey, you started following mine so I thought I would look at your journal. All your plans look great! I really like the way you are doing your hair and your colors. I am looking forward to reading along popcorn::

How would you word that? And where would we meet up...

Could you say something like...

"We'd like to buy you a Welcome to Orlando drink, we'll be at Mizner's Lounge from 6pm to 7pm on Friday 13th if you are able to join us"

The underlined words are the ones you could change to match where and when you pick. And if you just do an hour it means most people won't drink loads, not everyone will come and you can still do something yourself after, it could act as a pre-dinner drink sort of thing.

I don't know if you could do this but to save even more you could just do wine, buy a few bottles, get some glasses and pour out a half glass for people as they arrive and don't do top ups ;)

Oh you could do a welcome "swim"! Have everyone meet at the hotel pool... you could still buy everyone their first drink because all the pools have pool bars and it would be nice and casual.

Which resort are you staying at again? As long as its not the BCV all the resort pools are open to everyone.

Thanks Stacey! You have some good ideas! I will share them with Df later.

I kind of like the idea of an intimate get together but I get what Df is saying. It's all about compromise right!

Oh those are good ideas too! I like the wording you gave (except for the Friday the 13th thing ;) )

I have TWO updates!! MY SHOES ARE HERE!!!

I was so excited to get them…unfortunately I can’t take a picture of them to save my life. They are the EXACT color as my invitations. They are so pretty in person!

The first pic is kinda dark but it shoes the tie with the invitations and the shoes. Everything goes to well together!!

Outside makes them a bit bright...

The box is gorgeous as well. I want one! :)

Oh, and don't forget to break those shoes in a lot! I made the mistake of barely wearing mine before the wedding. EEK!

Thanks! The more stuff I picked out the more I leaned toward that french blue/cornflower color.

Awesome! Both the letter box and shoes look great!

I can't wait to get the letter box! I think it's going to be on the small side but we'll see.
