September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Okay, so I just did online check-in!! Only 10 days away and I'm beyond excited!:dance3::cool1::cheer2::yay:

I have decided to surprise my DH and DS with tickets for the Halloween party on the 13th. I plan to make t-shirts for all of us. Mine says Ghouls Just Want to Have Fun and it's the ghosts from the HM. For the guys, they'll get pictures of the HM at night on theirs. I'll also get Halloween Mickey ears but don't know if the guys will go along with wearing those!:rotfl:

Is anyone planning to go the Night of Joy? I'm seriously thinking about it. My DS expressed an interest and the only reason I'm hesitating is because I've already worked out our park days and that would mess things up a bit. Any thoughts?

Everyone have a wonderful day and week!:flower3:

I know its not Disney, but since we are doing a day at Universal it fits...

First and foremost: Very glad that everyone is ok. We got a little bit of Irene's rain and winds but nothing substantial.

Second: To RFrank9504, I am really sorry your husband had a seizure, but glad you were able to keep your trip, and not have to cancel completely.

Third: I have my two boys but I would have loved to have a girl too, but I would have been scared out of my mind because I wouldn't know what to do? ;) I too wanted a "mini-me" to dress up in frilly clothes. Now I spoil the crap out of my friends daughters!!

Fourth: :banana::banana: Day 10 :banana::banana:

Fifth: To online check in or regular check in?? That is the question?? I might do it just so it is one less thing to worry about and we are checking in at an unusual time, and do not expect to go to our room right away because we will be going to the parks immediately after we check in. :confused3

Sixth: Where is the Fast Foward button??

Seventh: I need to do laundry, pack, clean out my car ( I am driving over ), clean my house up, get a pedi, get the cat situation figured out, get last minute items??

Eighth: Take care of work stuff, so while I am gone the place doesn't collapse.... !! :rotfl:

Ah I feel the same way! I feel like I am going to have three boys, and my dad so nicely has told me he feels the same way! :confused3 Hoping not though, I would really love a mini me to dress up in frilly little clothes! DH and I are deciding if we should have one right now or wait a year. DS is 2 on thursday and Id really love for my kids to be close in age, but since DH decided to go back to school, it might be better to wait another year before trying. Good luck to you though! I will be wishing for pink things to come your way! :thumbsup2

Ha, thanks! You and I are in EXACTLY the same boat! My youngest son turned two three weeks ago. DH wants to wait until spring/fall of next year because he will be finishing his second degree in February and is also trying to switch careers. I was pretty sick with my first son and extremely sick with our second, so we're both scared at how sick I'd be next time around. I was actually sick until three days after I had our second son. I just don't want them to be too far apart nor do I want DH to be an elderly old man when the last one moves out. :lmao:

Hi Everyone,

I haven't posted to this thread in AGES and can't believe all the posts I've been missing out on! You all have been busy planners: ADRs, park days, trip clothing, packing lists, ...uh...post-Disney babies. I feel like such a slacker. I have got to do something about the time-suck (aka work) that is taking away from my DisBoards/Vacation planning time. It's a serious problem.

Anyway, here's what I've got so far:

Friday 9/23 - AutoTrain. DS (15) and I are taking a roomette on the way down. We usually have the bedroom, but the cost on the way down was ridiculous:scared1:. Still looking forward to it though. We  the train.

Saturday 9/24 - Arrive at Sanford and make the 30 min drive to Orlando. Check in at Villas at Wilderness Lodge. This is a change from our original plans. WE had been in a 2 bedroom value at AK - Jambo. We switched to a 1 bedroom at VWL because it's now just me and my son. He really wanted to stay at WL again so we switched.

We'll probably go to Epcot once we're checked in.

Sun 9/25 - MK
Mon 9/26 - Epcot
Tues 9/27 - Typhoon Lagoon/MNSSHP
Wed 9/28 - MGM (sorry, I don't recognize any other name for this park)
Thur 9/29 - Animal Kingdom
Fri 9/30 - Epcot for Food and Wine
Sat 10/1 - We'll probably park hop to a couple of parks depending on our mood
Sun 10/2 - My son dies from embarrassment as he pries his mother's fingers off the edge of the lobby doors and forces her into the car as she wails, "Just one more day. Please just one more day."

We drive back to Sanford and get the AutoTrain back to DC.

We have no ADRs at this point and I probably won't be making any. I have to purchase our annual passes at some point and I need to buy the MNSSHP tickets too.

Here's our souvenir list so far (for my father):
Disney spoon holder
WL Totem Pole figurine

That's it. Two items on the list (so you know we'll be coming back with at least twenty).

Well that's all I got. 25 days and counting. It just can't get here soon enough. Happy planning fellow Septemberites :)

I love Shrek! You've done a great job with him!

Welcome back! Yes, we've been doing a lot of planning here, but so have you! It sounds like you have mostly everything planned and figured out. I hope you have a fantastic time on the train. That sounds like so much fun!

I wish we were! Unfortunately, we're leaving days before NOJ, so we will miss it. I hope to be back in September again to enjoy it one year!

Here's my perspective on the age thing. I also thought we would keep our children close in age, but our girls are 3 years and 3 months apart, and I LOVE it! One, it's nice to have the older child potty trained before the little one comes around. Two, having distance between children makes it feel like it's your first child all over again. There are so many cute newborn and toddler things that you kind of forget about, until you are able to experience it again years later. Three, the older child is such an amazing help with the younger and it gets better as they get older. So now that I have children that are 3 years apart, I would still opt for a 3 year or greater time span between any additional children. Sometimes I look at parents who have children that are all similar in age (I'm 1.5 years older than my brother), and I don't know how they do it! That being said, every mom is different and what works for one may not work for another. But having been a mom who thought she wanted children close in age, I definitely have changed my mind! (Plus, although I didn't have easy pregnancies or deliveries, those not-so-nice moments become distant memories with each passing year between pregnancies!)

I'm not going, since I'll be arriving the night it ends. But I think you should go! I think it would be really fun to finally SEE artists perform that you only get to hear on the radio. Not sure if 3rd Day is gonna be there, but I'd love to see them in person.

LOVE this!

Should be a campaign slogan.

Oh no! Sorry to hear you were so sick! Luckily (knocks on wood!) I wasnt sick at all with my first. On a positive, if youre youngest turns 3 when you have your next one, it might make it easier on you having your oldest start school incase you do get sick again. Hopefully this time around it will be a little girl for you and you wont get sick!! Im sending pixie dust your way! :goodvibes

Well right now if we were to get pregnant ASAP our children would be 2 months shy of being 3 years apart.. so your story is comforting :goodvibes We are figuring our children will be about 3.5/4 years apart if we wait a year. Id rather have DH get settled into a new career, and be almost finished with school when the 2nd one comes along. I mean he said we could have one now, but I would rather not put the stress on him.. but who knows what will happen! :rotfl: My brother and I are also only 15 months apart and I give my mom so much credit! This was actually one of the main reasons I wanted my children close together because growing up my brother and I always had each other when we were bored.

How much do they charge for a bottle of water? I was going to order from Garden Grocer, but by the time you add delivery it just doesn't seem worth it. :confused3

So, I just ordered myself the Purple(my fav color) Disney Sketch crossbody bag from Disneyshopping :cool1:...It was already marked down and with the 25% off theme park merchandise and free shipping I just couldn't pass it up, LOL

I'm excited! I have a medium Disney sketch bag and I have always wanted a crossbody bag....think it will make a terrific park bag! I don't like to bring too much in my purse and DH will have a backpack for all the other stuff we need. So just keeping my fingers crossed that the placement isn't horrible :wizard: but I'll probably keep it either way.

Also, just a heads up-Walgreens is starting to get some of their Halloween merchandise in and yesterday I picked up some Disney Halloween window clings for our room at Pop, small disney light up toys, and some halloween mickey/minnie lawn signs :yay: They also had (which I did not purchase):Mickey/Minnie scarecrows, Disney porch greeters, singing Mickey plush, Mickey halloween bowl, Mickey yard blow-up. Sorry...no pics. I'm not really tech savvy and I have to get DH to download the pics to the computer and he'll get to it eventually I'm sure :) I'm going to check back again in a few days to see if Walgreens gets anything else in that I might be interested in!

Us too! My girls are almost exactly 3 years apart and for us it has been the perfect age difference between kids! I needed a little time between kids because I don't think I could have handled two toddlers at once :upsidedow

Sometimes I think about having a third child but I get severe hyperemesis with my pregnancies :sad1: and last time I needed a PICC line that stayed in my arm for 6 months with home health nursing care, a Zofran pump, DH changing my IV bags, and I did not eat or drink for 6 months because the vomiting did not stop/it was 24 hours a day. I lost a lot of weight, was pretty much bed bound, it was a looong 9 months. If it wasn't for me being close to death just to bring a child into this world I would love to have another one :sad2: But I am so blessed to have my two girls

Good luck to those of you getting ready to try for another, or your first! :goodvibes

Hi ya'll.....this day, this time next week I'll be getting ready to have lunch in Hollywood Studios !!!!! :yay::woohoo::yay:

I'm starting to get really excited now that it's under a week before leave.

I think its worth it. They were $2.50 last year and I think I read somewhere that they're $2.75 now :confused3 (not sure). If you're on the DDP and get mugs, you can collect a few by getting water bottles as your "drink," saving the bottle and using the mug. But even doing that, we usually go through 2 cases for our family of 5.

I think it varies from park to park......I just checked the menu at Casey's in MK...it was $2.50

I couldn't even imagine! It's amazing how some people have easy-breezy pregnancies and others--uh, not so much! Especially in situations like those, it really makes you appreciate what a blessing it is to be able to bring a child into the world!

I have mixed feelings about having more children. If we had unlimited funds, I would have more. But, with twins on both sides of the family, we could try for one more and end up with multiples!, or you never know what medical interventions may be necessary during the pregnancy or after. We're just so happy and content with 2, and we love being able to do so many things as a family of 4 (it's weird how restaurant booths, amusement rides, hotel rooms, everything is made for a family of 4. Once you hit 5, things get tricky!) :rotfl:

Sometimes I feel it would be nice to be pregnant just "one more time." But then I remember my other 2 pregnancies and deliveries, and change my mind! Even so, I feel that if we ever really wanted another and it was too late to have our own, there are so many amazing kids in foster care or ready for adoption that need a good home. So I just live in the moment and enjoy every single wingle minute with the family I have now!

Sorry for going off the topic of Disney....I'll get us back on.....we leave in TWO days!!

That is just awful. I wasn't that sick, but was on Zofran for the entire time and pretty much laid on the couch. At least I was able to eat some. I can understand you being worried about being that sick again.
