2016 Free Dining Watch ~ Part 2

What is the likelihood that the November date will actually start on Tuesday the 15th? Seems odd to me to start it in the middle of the week.
Seems the timing of this is to start the day after the food and wine festival ends. Last day for food and wine is Nov 14.

Yes, I did. After booking, I tried to login here to post the news, but site maintenance had begun. I can't remember if it was during maintenance, or just after, but the Disney site crashed, and a nightmare for everyone trying to book ensued.

Do you remember about what time the Disney site crashed?

Well then. I had decided not to even mess with this all-nighter since we are going in December and I am pretty stuck on staying at POR. Now if there is even a slight chance...sending hubby to the store for caffeine! The one advantage to living on the west coast right now is if Disney happens to drop Free Dining at midnight it will only be 9pm here and I will still get a decent nights sleep! Who am I kidding, my three month old doesn't allow for a full nights sleep...let the games begin!:drinking1:disrocks:

Did anyone actually make reservations on line at 3 or 4am In the past when this was announced? Does it crash that early in the morning
The last time I booked free dining---not last year but the year before---I logged in at 6am central time and booked my room without any trouble at all. Done in 5 minutes. But I was booking a deluxe and they typically don't sell out of free dining packages because most people take the room only for deluxe. We had 4 disney adults so the free dining was way more than the room only.

Something is def up. I can't retrieve any reservations through the TA site. The site crashes every year. I was hoping this year would be different. Oh well. I've got all phones charged and ready to go.

I'm not having any trouble :confused3

Think I am going to get some sleep since I have to work early. Figure I will get up EXTRA early to book if the prices stay the same. Of course, I might be to excited to even sleep. Tomorrow at work is not going to be fun.

Yep, I did. I tried modifying first and it gave me problems so I booked a new one. No problem doing that at all. I will say that the change feature was still new and it still had a bunch of tweaking to do.

The site was ok last year until right around 6am then all heck broke loose.

I've heard different things about this... we have 3 girls that aren't really into fast rides, roller coasters, or any fun rides (lol)... but they are probably tall enough for most, if not all of them. Can we still ride swap? Or no because they meet the height requirement. We may just do rides with single rider lines...
when we went and my son was tall enough to ride but was scared we were able to ride the rider swap for us

Can you book two rooms online? The family that is going with our family have separate reservations from us, I'm going to *try* to modify both of our reservations if FD comes available but i am willing to make new reservations if needed.

When they didn't follow it for us on tower of terror we went to guest relations to complain and got 3 sets of fast passes. Just have their policy up on a tab on your phone to show the CM.

Sure, but it's be an awful PITA to do that daily. The CM at the ride just has to do what their trained to do.

Just depends on the CM, but I'd have a backup.

I've never tried it, but from reading everybody else's posts here I don't think having a TA will help. It sounds like a lot of people are planning to book it themselves and then transfer it to the TA once it's confirmed. TAs aren't going to be at work at 4am if that's when it releases.
Many of the will be up in the middle of the night to book believe it or not!
