I love credit cards so much!

FYI there's a super easy bank account bonus of $100 right now via Memory Bank & you can fund the account with up to $500 on a credit card at opening. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/memorybank-100-signup-bonus-earnmore-1-6-apy-checking/ You don't need to have TaxAct, just input the code (well, obvs read all the details on the offer first). I opened about 2 weeks ago, funded with CFU (thought about doing an amex card but did not want to risk missing out on the points), pushed $200 from Ally 3 times over 2 days (some do it all on 1 day but I got worried Ally would flag it as fraud or something), $100 bonus pending as of my statement close. (Bonuses apparently always post around the 15th.)

Try clearing you catche and cookies, specially if you are using Chrome.

It started working. And then rational thinking set in. I would rather continue saving towards our next DVC contract and then go to VGF once we are owners. :) We have been making great progress so far this year from the sewing machine sales. And I am planning to do the TCF Bank and Huntington Bank bonuses to add towards our DVC fund. And maybe more bank bonuses.

I just opened an account for DH and funded $500 with his IHG card that we have a $2k spend on. How long did it take before the account was opened and did they call you before they approved it? I am planning to open one in my name too and put the spend on my CIP, since that will almost finish the MSR on that card.

They didn’t call, I got an account number on opening. It took a day before my online login was fully working, despite saying I was approved after I opened it was still “pending” the next day when I tried to make my online account. I’d give it a couple days for your SO’s account to fully open with online access and then do yours.

Stalking hotel and airline websites. Planned for Hyatt Vancouver last year by getting Hyatt Card. It was recommended by @Ngwira i think. Have AA miles for flight (which they keep changing in current schedules.)
Yes I have the Hyatt card. Got it when it came with 2 free nights. The Vancouver hotel is a category 4, correct?

OK, I think I'm going to apply for the CIP.

I want to set myself up for the best chance of success.

Here are my questions:

1. Apply on weekend or weekday?

2. I know to use my name as the business name and my SSN.

3. When I did DH's application I had such a hard time with the part where you have to chose the business category/type/subtype. Where does ebay fit in their drop down categories?

So mad at myself. I thought I knew how to do @calypso726's trick with AMEX to get all offers to appear, but I messed up and accepted offers before pasting the URL into the next window. Head bang. I wasn't able to get any of the offers I wanted on my AMEX Platinum Business to appear on the SPG Business (the card I need to be doing spend on). Ugh. Can anyone make me feel better by saying that the Amex Plat Bis and SPG Bis offers don't usually overlap? I was trying to get the Starbucks offer, the Neiman offer, and the Best Buy offer.

Positive development in my ginormous tax bill payment with my Amex Platinum Business to get the 1.5 MRs. I received an email last night from AMEX congratulating my on my 1.5x spends with the correct payment amounts listed. Had to send to @Calfan right away :) MR's still haven't shown up in my account. I used to be able to see pending MRs but I can't find the link anymore. I can just see MR "activity," which doesn't show anything yet. There used to be a little question mark you could hit that would show pending, but it's gone.

Yes, cat 4 & 12 k points if I can get it. Do you know if they would let me add a 3rd night with my free night once I get it? Planning on making reservation soon, but free night not available until September.

For a business card application, it really doesn’t matter if you apply on a weekday or weekend because if you’re applying as a “business” it’s advised not to call in and possibly be grilled about your application, so it doesn’t matter if the office is closed.

Apply as a sole proprietorship. A sole proprietor is “you” so your business name is your name, your EIN or Tax ID number is your SSN. Don’t get creative, or Chase could ask for documentation.

Your business revenue should be plausible and somewhat demonstrable, but you could also put down projected revenue if you’re story is that you’re a startup. Include your total household income in the appropriate field.

For an eBay “business”, you’ll want to select "retail: books, hobbies, music, sports, general, non store retail" (or the other retail category) > "electronic shopping and mail-order" > "electronic shopping" and apply!

Don't be discouraged if you're not approved immediately. Most of us get the "we'll let you know in 30 days" message. Don’t call into recon. Just call the automated status line at 1-800-432-3117, follow the prompts with #, 3, 1, SSN, periodically to check the progress of your application. When you get approved, you can call CIP's customer service line at 1-800-945-2028 to request the card expedited to you.

Good luck!

I think so, but call Hyatt to confirm. Or just reserve a paid night using AAA rate no deposit and refundable then switch to free night once available.

I wonder if they changed the drop down menu. I'm not seeing "electronic shopping and mail-order" as a choice.

Yes. I wonder if it might make a difference that he is a permanent resident rather than a citizen. I got an email saying that the application was received and he would get notified in 2 business days of status and next steps. I did plan to wait to on mine until his is opened.

@magickingdomprincess, agreed with @gottalovepluto that there is no hard and fast rule that Chase will only approve you for 2 biz cards. There are a lot of factors in the decision, like how many Biz cards you have, how many Chase cards you have overall, how much credit has Chase extended you already, how long ago did you open your last Biz card if any, when was the last time you opened another Chase card, and probably how much revenue your business makes relative to the credit already extended.

We say it’s relatively easy to get two Chase cards because when people are going for their first Biz card, especially one under 5/24, they’re likely still relatively new to the game, don’t have too many cards or much credit extended. It’s always advisable to space out Chase applications, but biz applications especially. By the time you get to your second card, presumably you’re still under 5/24 because those are the cards worth getting, but that also means you still have relatively few cards with Chase and not so much credit extended that you can still open a second biz card (or maybe you’re reaching your limit, but Chase will let you open a new card with the minimum limit). By the time you come around for a third card, you may be denied just because you’re tapped out of available credit and not some rule.

The heavy churners go to extra lengths to get two of the same business cards (e.g., two CIPs) by getting an EIN so they can submit one application with just their SSN, then come around later and apply as a “business” with an EIN. This tends to allow for more Chase biz cards of other types under either the SSN or SSN+EIN too.

Preemptively lowering credit limits about a month in advance to apply for new cards is a tactic I’m seeing more and more recommended and implemented on /r/churning, especially if you’re applying for a card you don’t really want to have to call to recon (biz cards and double dips).

But yes, you’d want to reduce your personal limits because (1) Chase looks at the big picture of total credit extended to personal and biz lines; but (2) upon recon, won’t let you move personal lines of credit to open a biz card.

Thanks very much for all the explanations. That really makes a lot of sense. Now to decide whether to try and apply now, and if I'm rejected then lower my personal credit lines and try again in 30 days, or just go ahead and lower them then apply in a month. It seems like the only thing I would be out is a hard pull, and could potentially get the card a month earlier. Hmmm.... decisions, decisions. I need to buy our Universal tix for June which are about $1k, which would be a nice chunk of the MSR. Now that I actually have our hotel reservations I feel like I need to get our park tickets too.

Question for those who have experience using the Marriott hotel + flight package (or just a Marriott hotel cert really). Can I use the 7-night stay certificate to make a reservation for someone else, in this case my mother-in-law? There is a Springhill Suites fairly near our house that is where my parents choose to stay when they visit us in Boise because of the convenience and proximity, and it's a decent hotel for a category 3. My MIL has stayed there once as well. We thought we'd entice her up for a week by offering the free hotel, but I wanted to make sure this would work before extending the offer. Thanks!

Oh no. I had Neiman on my Personal Plat and a few others but not on the SPG business. Had Starbucks on the SPG business and a few others but not Personal Plat. I had Best Buy on Personal Plat, Schwab Plat and Everyday card. DH had Neiman on his Plat Biz and a couple of others but not SPG biz and didn't have Starbucks on either one. He had Best Buy on his Personal Plat, Biz Plat, Schwab Plat and Everyday Preferred cards. Hope that helps.

I am only able to get it to work when I do it exactly the way I detailed. I think I will do a numbered step by step in case it helps.

1. Log on to your Amex account.
2. Scroll down to Amex offers and click "View All" (do not choose any offers)
3. Wait until the entire page is loaded with all of the offers.
4. Right click and Copy the URL
5. Click new tab and Open a new tab
6. Paste the URL into the new tab and hit enter
7. Wait for the entire page to load and make sure it displays all offers. If not, clcik "view all" (do not select any offers)
8. Repeat the process and open new tabs until you have the same number of tabs as you have cards.
9. Go to the second tab which would be the first "new tab" you opened.
10. Click "My accounts" which is below the pictures of the cards on the upper right side.
11. There will now be a column of your cards and you will the first one says "account selected". Click the blue "View Account" button on the card below it, your SECOND card.
12. Wait for the page to load. Make sure all offers are displayed. Do not select any offers.
13. Go to the 3rd tab.
14. Click "My accounts" which is below the pictures of the cards on the upper right side.
15. There will now be a column of your cards and you will the first one says "account selected". Click the blue "View Account" button on the THIRD card below it.
16. Wait for the page to load. Make sure all offers are displayed. Do not select any offers.
17. Lather.
18. Rinse.
19. Repeat.
20. Once you have done the steps for each tab and have loaded each card on it's own tab and can view all offers you can now choose the offers. Do not close any of the tabs until you are done selecting all offers and all cards. Do not click any links within any of the tabs while you are selecting offers.

DPs I've read on FlyerTalk suggest that it isn't a problem. You can always book it in your name and then add MIL as the second guest and she can check in without you being there.

This will be of no help but know you’re not alone. I will never forget the banker’s legit struggle to classify my eBay biz from the drop down lists. And he was a manager at the branch! They need to update those lists!

This is awesome! I'd searched for the one you did with screenshots, but couldn't find it. I'm printing this off right now for next time. And sigh on the possibility of moving those bonus categories over to the SPG where I need them. Next time! I'm off to check DH's cards right now. he only has one AMEX but hope he has some of them, too. Thank you!!!!
