As we get closer my irrational fears and anxieties are beginning to surface...

Trust me- you are not alone. My girlfriend and I both have anxiety, though mine tends to be a bit more related to irrational fears such as flights being delayed, rain/bad weather, and getting sick just before arriving.

I'm definitely worried about weather and flights being delayed. I'm flying out of Pittsburgh and my partner is coming from Boston, so I'm crossing my fingers that some huge snow storm doesn't mess up our plans.

We are flying from JFK so I feel your pain!

Whelp the anxiety dreams have started for our trip from 01/09 - 01/19. I've had one where I got too caught up in the parks and forgot to go to the race expo before the marathon, and another where I forgot that we have to book which seats we want to sit at in restaurants and lost all our dining reservations.
Last night I had one where my sister and her boyfriend decided to join us for our Animal Kingdom day. Jack Skelington was hanging out in front of the park taking photos and he freaked my sister's bf out so much that he refused to enter the park and we had to leave...

I’ve had a couple pop up in the 6:00 range for the 27th. What time are you looking for?

6pm is a great time for us. We're trying to avoid any later because we have four kids under age 5 and would like to keep their bedtime somewhat regular. I'll be checking every week and I have alerts set up.

My Magic Bands are shipping! Got the notice today, and it made the "it's getting closer" waiting game a little more real. I can officially say I'll be going to Disney World this month...AND next year. All in the same week, ha!

How exciting! I just customized ours last week.

I'm already having the Home alone, we slept in! reoccurring nightmare.

Our flight leaves the airport at 5:50 AM. So we have to leave the house around 3/3:30 AM to get there a little after 4 AM, go through security and get to our gate. I'm giving us plenty of time because of the wee ones. Thankfully it's only my immediate family flying out (4 adults, 2 kids) and the rest of our group flies in later. I'll be at ease once we're up in the air and I can try to sleep or something.

I'm also making sure my sister brings our hard tickets just in case there are some crazy issues with our magic bands. I also made her take a picture of each card's bar code and number as backup.

We’re flying from Columbus, Ohio so I understand the fear of getting delayed or cancelled. Hoping we have nothing to worry about.

Oh yes! Our flight leaves at 5:30 am. My husband asked when we watch home alone if I’m in a panic that we’ll sleep in....

I'm tempted to find a cheap hotel room for the night before so we can just get a shuttle to the airport.

Flying from LGA. Also nervous. I traveled same time this year for my honeymoon, we got hit with that snowstorm and missed 3 days of our honeymoon. Period. Including the only time we had to go to Hong Kong Disneyland. To say I was devastated might be an understatement. So now im super scared of something similar.

I feel all of you on the missing the early flight/weather concerns... our flight is at 5:50 am out of Buffalo! We are going to set multiple alarms just in case, and the weather will be what will be. I’m trying not to worry too much. Fingers crossed that the weather is bad in Buffalo on our way home and we get stuck in Florida for an extra couple of days! :-)

I'm really trying not to tweak my plans too much but now I think we have too many dining reservations....I dont know!

1/9 BOG Dinner (this is staying no matter what)
1/10 Garden Grill PPO
1/10 Dinner at La Hacendia
1/12 Cape May Breakfast
1/13 Tusker House Lunch
1/14 Ohana Dinner at 4pm
1/15 Ohana Breakfast

Im trying to move the Ohana dinner but having no luck
We have 10 people in our group 7 adults and 3 kids

@SuperNEMOfan, I personally only like to do one sit down meal each day, so I’d cut out one of your reservations on 1/10... but if your family enjoys sit downs, then go for it! I also don’t think I’d want to do the same restaurant twice in a row like you have Ohana, but again, if you love it, then keep them both. Whatever you decide to do, I’m sure you will enjoy it... you will be at Disney and you won’t be cooking!

@ErinBoBerin, that’s some dream! :-) If you want to share your resort, I can add you to the roll call!

@brewhome I definitely don’t want those Ohanas back to back. It wasn’t the plan.

I would easily cancel Garden Grill but my in-laws love it and I’ve never been.

We definitely like table service meals but I’ve never planned a personal trip for 10 people. If it were up to me, I’d keep BOG Ohana and la Hadecina but with the kids being 3 and 2 I want them to see the characters. Ugh I struggle with this. Cause we don’t even know if the kids will like the characters and if that’s the case I’ll cancel them all once we experience a meet and greet

I feel your pain on the early flight/weather concerns. Our flight is at 5:10am, airport is an 1hr drive, and since we are traveling international we need to be at the airport at least 2 hrs before departure. So a 1am alarm clock and lots of coffee. Since we are in the Great White North, I'm hoping for good weather on departure day. I'm with you on the extra days in a warm climate. :)

I haven’t even thought about airport delays :crazy2: Our flight leaves at 8am and we are taking a bus to Boston around 5am with two toddlers. I really don’t want to think about it now lol

It’s definitely hard pleasing 10 people, that’s for sure!

I too am starting to anxious, but more around the possibility that we will not feel the same "Magic" as we did on our first trip two years ago. That trip was more of a last minute trip, so the planning was not as robust as this trip is and I feel it was one of our best vacations as a family. I just hope that all this pre planning does not cause the "magic" to be affected.
I do think that if you go too frequently the magic diminishes, but every 2 years is good spacing for me. What I always do is preplan to the gills but then be willing to do something else if the mood takes us... my son is on the spectrum so I have the plan in place if we need it but if we feel like doing something else, know the plan works for YOU and not the other way around. This keeps the magic high in all of our trips - when he's not sure what he wants to do (too many choices are overwhelming) I have a plan. He loves to eat at restaurants and we preplan those together, and any extras we stick with, but anything else is fair game if he decides he wants to do something else. best of both worlds!

Anyone else waiting on the Frozen dessert party to open up? :surfweb:
I am. Hoping for the Friday the 25th, our last night because Illuminations is our favorite show and it's the last time we'll ever see it again.

I have a couple of backups though.

I had Ohana back to back on my last trip and it was no biggie honestly. I worried way too much about how to perfectly plan the flow of my meals then ended up with Tusker House, Sanaa, Boma and Yak and Yeti all back to back to back (all similar menus) at the front end of my trip, and Garden Grill one morning with Ohana the next morning (virtually the same menu). You know what? it mattered not one bit, I enjoyed every meal!

I'm leaving from martha's vineyard on a 6am flight and with the first ferry at 5:30am there is literally no way for me to travel same day. so I am going to book the 5pm ferry off island the day before and stay up at the airport. I still need to book that stuff, not sure where my head has been - waiting for FEA dessert party I guess! But the time is now to book my last pieces of travel!
