Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

But, how could they have regular guests staying at the resort? That would defeat the purpose of the “bubble.”
Not the same resort. Let's say the NBA uses 2 resorts at the start. Between the teams, families, and media that's a lot of rooms needed. Come end of July half the teams would be done which would mean they can go back to just one resort.

I believe that CSR can accommodate all of them. It has something like 2000 rooms. I don’t see them needing a second resort. The speculation is that CR is closed to accommodate those being moved from CSR.

But, yes, it’s all speculation until Disney comes out and announces what they will be doing. I hope we get clarity very soon!

What is CR again?

How would half the teams be done by the end of July when theyre restarting at the end of July? Depending on how much of the regular season they continue off from, its going to be about a month to a month and a half until the playoffs start. So you’re looking at end of August when 14 teams get sent home

A late June opening is still possible with existing reservations but if I look on MDE no reservations are available before 7/1. (Apologies if this was already covered, I’ve read every page but didn’t see a post about this).

Agree that it’s frustrating - freeze everything if you’re worried about capacity, and don’t allow new reservations (unless existing reservations are WAY under predicted capacity??) to avoid having to cancel people until a projected opening date can be shared publicly.

DVC are the only rooms bookable in the month of June. It likely means nothing as DVC has been late to the party and seem to be oblivious of everything going on.

Which is where the August timeline comes in. By then most the NBA teams will be done playing. Less rooms would be affected and hopefully not as many people Disney will have to deal with in regards to moving accommodations.
Availability is ridiculously high right now. They aren’t short on space. They could close half the resorts and still have enough to meet demand.

They can’t. There are some resorts that lend themselves to being restricted, others don’t, CR being one of the least easiest to do, especially considering Bay Lake Towers. But go ahead Disney- close off BLT to the NBA. I’m sure DVC owners would love it.

I hate myself for not being more clear - no *ADRs* are available before 7/1.

You cant really do ADRs with the current situation. Many have been booked as far back as December/January and booked up restaurants. No matter when the parks reopen, theyre going to have to limit capacity to restaurants. Which means people will need to be pushed out of their ADRs. So reservations isnt exactly doable for the time being.

The August 1 timeline is also where Disney would no longer be able to pawn off its employee costs on unemployment...for now, most of its rank and file employees make more on unemployment than they would working...once the fed subsidy falls off, the reverse is true, and if those employees are not hired back, they may go looking for other employment, leaving Disney in a huge bind...
Except the Florida unemployment system is a disaster and most of them probably haven’t seen their first unemployment check

This falls right in the unsubstantiated rumor category, but wdwmagic posts have been shared before, so here it is, take it with all the salt you can grab....it’s a I know someone who knows someone.lol Don’t shoot the messenger, I’m desperate for positive news. :) I know Yulilin3 is taking a break from the boards, but surely she would’ve confirmed this, if true.

I think I remember seeing that Disney uploaded the employees info directly into the state system so they didn't have to strugle with the system themselves. So hopefully they were getting paid timely.

pawn off its employee costs on unemployment.

Unemployment insurance is usually funded by company and employee contributions and those that contributed should be allowed to use the insurance they paid for. That extra $600 that actually pays some more to sit home...now that's a completely different story...

Yulilin3 is taking a break? Hope everything is OK. She is always so helpful.

It’s not a big deal, she just posted on another thread that she was taking a break from all this until Wednesday when we might get some news. I should probably do the same! lol
Thanks - I totally understand! I stepped away for a couple of days but found myself playing catch-up for the latest potential news.
