DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

I was whizzing through the scroll, and thought the last word started with n. You can imagine my disappointment when I scrolled back up.
Glad I wasn't the only one!!

Great pictures, and I completely agree. DW has given me the green light on beach condo shopping, with perhaps our ridiculous sanctions getting to her, and needing a place with some hope. She has ruled out the Atlantic side, so I am looking in the Gulf now. It means no Disney APs, but I'll still get to enjoy the beach and it's about a nine hour drive.
Great news. There's many places on the gulf side that aren't thst long of a drive. Tampa/St Pete is around 2 hrs.

True, but I just think that they whole PC thing has gone too far in my opinion.
Mosr definitely. Not everyone with darker skin has lineage from Africa. Had a boss from Jamaica who told people do not call me African American!! I think it's utterly daft ( Dan - for you mate)....as a caucasion, I don't call myself European American or American American (some Cherokee blood). I'll stop there because this is a real hot spot for me.

Morning, Gents! Had a pretty good day at work yesterday, except for when I first got there. Steve, one of the guys in the warehouse, left quite abruptly last Wednesday. I didn't think any of it, other than hoping all would be well. Well, it turns out that his daughter tested positive for Covid-19, she's a nurse, which means that he had to leave work and quarantine himself for 14 days. Great! Another scare, just what I need.

You guys are still here eh? Just popped in to say Hi.
Haven’t been crawling the forum much with all the shutdowns going on and vacation plans in limbo. Been spending most of my time over on the facebook group.
I really hate having all my plans up in the air like this with 2 months left before our trip. (I booked everything back in november)

Welcome back to the forums.

When asked about my race, I'm white of European descent, I always say, "I'm American." I know that's not what they want to hear, but I say it anyways. And with that, I'll stop.

Top WDW list for today .......... Top 3 -5 spots to watch MK fireworks from

1. Somewhere in the hub, preferably without trees/light posts in the way
2. 2nd floor of train station
3. Poly beach
4. Haven't been there, but I assume the view is great from Contemporary/Top of the World Lounge
5. Streaming online

Watching a pretty good war movie, it's called Wonder Woman...

The trench/No Man's Land scene was the best part.

Plan on watching 1917 tonight.

Hope you enjoy it! I really liked that one.

I really hate having all my plans up in the air like this with 2 months left before our trip.

I hear ya. I'm stuck between wanting to grab hotel reservations at good prices and yet not being able to reserve anything else, or have any idea if/when they will open.

Yikes. A good reminder not to let our guards down yet.

Morning Gents,

another heat warning here in the east. Things are slowly starting back up here in NB; we even have some sports getting ready to offer some summer programming. Golf and tennis were able to start in early May.

I'm hoping to get home today in time to watch the Space X launch.

Have a good one all.

Top WDW list for today .......... Top 3 -5 spots to watch MK fireworks from

I've watched from 3 spots

  1. various locations in the hub
  2. From my balcony at the Poly
  3. Online

'Morning all...
Survived the long trek from one end of the house to the other again.
(only positive thing that has come out of this situation)

I think we come pretty high on that list....
Empire building tends to do that.

Plan on watching 1917 tonight.
Where is that one streaming?
Wouldn't mind seeing it (so long as I don't have to start paying for another service, that is).

I can tell you about some Canadian brews.
Couldn't hurt.
I can't find many of the RBH brews I see regularly imaged, but I'm interested in seeing whats out there.

Happy SpaceX Launch Day!!! 🚀
And may that go to plan.

Dessert Party in the Plaza
Just to the right of the Lifeguard Chair in the Poly Volcano pool (don't you nick my spot, motherlovers)
Top of the World
Cali Grill
Used to be Club Level Poly, but the projections nixed that.

Basically, anywhere but Main St.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Well today we find out WDW opening plans and dates. Springs just hit capacity with the Disney stores and restaurants opening today - pent up demand for the Mouse. everyone stay safe out there and DaWorld plans will likely start some conversation.

Top WDW list for today is .............. Top 5 Must Do's During a trip (can do a top 10 if you are eager)

For the record MK fireworks viewing
  1. Desert Party in the HUB
  2. over to the left between Casey's and Crystal Palace
  3. TOTWL
  4. Poly Beach
  5. By the Flag on Main St / Train Station

Good news is that Disney announced they are opening the parks before we will arrive. Bad news is that they haven't clarified if the resorts are opening. So, will we have a trip? Just so disappointed in how they are handling this.

What about Sarasota and that way? That's a 3 hr and on the Gulf..... so APs would still be an option? Plus I'll have someone to drink with when I stay there.

But, 3 more hours away fro my drive. We would probably look more towards the Alabama stretch before going further south into Florida.

Congrats on getting the green light to condo shop...that's awesome!

That's how I see it. Though I was told that they are most likely going to go with the person with the most experience, which rules me out, but my supervisor's been pretty cool about me interviewing. He totally get it.

Thanks. And I get it the "not knowing".

Whoa! Yep, sounds like you both reached your limit.
I used to bike (bicycle, not Harley) to work (about 15 miles). It wasn't so bad, so decided to roller blade it. I arrived at work a virtual cripple and had to beg a ride home from a co-worker.

I've never rollerbladed, so I'll take your word for it. Funny how some things that look easy, aren't.

Yeah, but then I might've had to admit that I had some type of human value and that's not quite somewhere I can go just yet.

The force was strong this morning.

Just before I was out the door, the tech guru figured out where the problem was and that it was effecting everyone. So I just had to chill for a bit while they straightened out the mess. Now I'm back the my regular rounds of obligatory nonsense from the comfort of one of my spare rooms.

Well, I think you have quite a bit of human value.

As for the trip to work, it's good to know my jedi mind trick worked.

Top WDW list for today .......... Top 3 -5 spots to watch MK fireworks from

(1) TOTWL
(2) Concrete seats on bridge to Tomorrow Land
(3) Cali Grill dinner window seat

Great news. There's many places on the gulf side that aren't thst long of a drive. Tampa/St Pete is around 2 hrs.

I'm looking to stat further North. Miramar Beach would be the target area. I'm Ok with Orange Beach or Gulf Shores as well, depending on the price.

Kilimanjaro Safari & FOTLK
MK Mountains (Space, BTMRR, Splash)
World Showcase booze and snacks
Star Tours Vader Scenario
Hallowishes

Afternoon, gents.

So... Did another run today and... not sure whom to believe. My DDs fitbit, synched to her phone said we ran 3.5K. But I downloaded the Nike Run app and it was giving my updates as we ran and it said we ran 4K. Any thought on how we can figure out who's right? These are trails, so I can't use my car odometer to check.
Big plus is after the run. 1. I didn't feel like dying. 2. Knee, achilles and calves were fine, and left hip was only a bit sore.

I only have 3, really.
1. Hub
2. Main St.
3. Dessert party.
That's all I've done.
I really hate having all my plans up in the air like this with 2 months left before our trip. (I booked everything back in november)
Hope it works out for you.
African American!! I think it's utterly daft ( Dan - for you mate)....as a caucasion, I don't call myself European American or American American (some Cherokee blood). I'll stop there because this is a real hot spot for me.
I just go with whatever won't offend anyone. You are of a certain skin colour and the correct term is African American? Okay. But what if you're not American?
I dunno, but up here, I just say "Canadian" for the most part and if pressed about skin colour (Who does that???) might say "dark skin".

Uh, oh. But... it's to be expected, I suppose.
Happy SpaceX Launch Day!!! 🚀
Oh!!! Holy crap! Thanks for the reminder! I kept telling myself that I'd have to make sure to remember and I totally forgot! Glad I saw this now and not three hours from now!
Hope you enjoy it! I really liked that one.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to see it. It was on "On demand" a while ago, but it's already gone. Poop.
Things are slowly starting back up here in NB; we even have some sports getting ready to offer some summer programming. Golf and tennis were able to start in early May.
Good to hear!

See any wildlife?

Unfortunately... it isn't. It was pay on demand a while ago... and isn't even there now. Hopefully it'll show up soon on one of the services we get.
op WDW list for today is .............. Top 5 Must Do's During a trip (can do a top 10 if you are eager)
This is a tough one. There's lots of "must do's", but to name a top 5?
1. Ride HM. This is non-negotiable.
2. Ride PP
3. Have a Dole Whip float.
4. Walk around WS at Epcot
5. Visit all four parks
Good news is that Disney announced they are opening the parks before we will arrive.
Didn't see that until I read this. Thanks for that.
I've never rollerbladed, so I'll take your word for it. Funny how some things that look easy, aren't.
It's not hard... but doing it for 25km is.

Top WDW list for today is .............. Top 5 Must Do's During a trip (can do a top 10 if you are eager)

Must Do's:

1. Eat a Mickey Bar for Breakfast

2. Ride the TTA

3. Ride Spaceship Earth (Gotta get my Rome Burning fix)

4. Ride Living with the Land

5. Ride the Monorail

6. Have a beer and pretzel in Germany (or anywhere for that matter)

7. Eat at Biergarten

8. Visit the Poly (just to experience it) - usually coupled with an 'Ohana reservation or Kona Breakfast

9. Drink a Beer at the Rose and Crown (usually more than one ;-) )

10. Take a ton of pictures of SSE at night (to the point where I realize that I take the same ones each trip - it's just freakin' awesome).

Top 5 must do...

I could probably come up with a top 5 for all parks but Hollywood Studios, but will just do an overall top 5. I could skip Hollywood Studios but SWMBO and the kids like it.

1. TTA People Mover
2. Kringla Bakeri
3. Kilimanjaro Safari
4. Spaceship Earth
5. Carousel of Progress

More information. Resorts are opening before the parks. Pools are already opening in Florida. New ticket sales have stopped, and current ticket holders and guests are to be contacted. It looks like you have to reserve your park time. Not sure what that means or which how that will work with APs or hopping.

  5. Have a Grey Goose Slushie in France
  6. RnRR and ToT
  7. Visit the Springs
  8. See at least one night-time show
  9. Take that picture at Hollywood Studios
  10. Ride EE

Nice. The Nike one si normally pretty good, whereas sometimes the phones can rely on steps.

Day 1 of the arcade build, it should be ready for spraying for the weekend.

Just got email from DVC about DVC resorts...

Today, Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced additional plans including the expected reopening of Disney’s Vero Beach Resort and Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort on June 15 and all Disney Vacation Club properties at the Walt Disney World Resort on June 22.

This is fantastic news and yet another positive step forward – for our Members, guests and our Disney teams.

A summary of what you can expect during your next visit is posted on the Disney Parks Blog. Some of the operational adjustments include:

  • Enhanced cleaning of all rooms prior to arrival, including additional measures for dishware and appliances for Disney Vacation Club units, along with the standard Disney Vacation Club housekeeping services during your stay
  • Increased cleaning and sanitization in high-traffic areas
  • New hand-sanitizing stations in key areas
  • Physical distancing at restaurants, lobbies, pools, fitness centers and other public areas, including reducing capacity where appropriate

Our Members and guests will also play an important role in helping prevent the spread of illness. Like our Cast, all Members and guests will be asked to wear face coverings in public resort areas when not eating or drinking and to respect physical distancing. Members and guests are also strongly encouraged to check in remotely through the My Disney Experience app, frequently wash their hands and use cashless payment options. More details about these operational adjustments, including offerings that may remain temporarily suspended at individual resorts, are available online at disneyworld.com. While these adjustments may make the places you call “home” feel a little different for the time being, we will continue to make adjustments as the situation evolves.

As you may be aware, it was also announced today that Walt Disney World Resort submitted a proposal to government officials in Florida describing our approach for a phased reopening of Walt Disney World Resort theme parks planned to begin on July 11. Reopening dates for The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa as well as Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas, Ko Olina Hawai’i have not been determined, and we will share updates about those resorts just as soon as we’re able. Members wishing to alter their existing resort reservations may do so online at disneyvacationclub.com or contact Member Services for assistance.
