Mask mandates being lifted in some places

I take it you don't live in KC or STL because those places def require masks and they comprise of most of the population of the state. When I visited the Lake of the Ozarks..no they did not.

I’m in the St Louis area but not within city or county limits. I work in St Louis county and yes just a short 20 minute drive finds very different comfort levels 😂

I cannot wait until vaccinations are widespread enough that we can ditch masks. I absolutely loathe wearing a mask.

I know we’re all supposed to say it’s easy and no big deal and it’s a small sacrifice and unless you’re lungs are failing you shouldn’t have breathing issues and blah blah blah but I hate it. I find it miserable. I end up breathing through my mouth unless I’m actively just thinking about breathing, my face gets all damp, I feel claustrophobic and like I’m suffocating ugh. Masks are not here to stay for me, that’s for sure!
These are my exact feelings. I have tried multiple types and styles of masks, and they all bother me.

That's like when we went to the Lake and it's like a different country. Not that I can blame them much there they are surrounded by so much outdoors and water-related activities. When we went down just before Labor Day we didn't get strange looks though, we def. were the minority in wearing them though some servers did wear them but no one was accosting us. Then again people from KC (and STL) go down there all the time so I'm sure they've seen masks enough it's just the full-time residents don't wear them much.

As stated in another post, Pfizer tests shows once you received both shoots you are not a carrier. So, those who have received the vaccine do not really need to wear masks.
I think we would love to see a link to that because that is contrary to everything said in recent weeks. I can find nothing about Pfizer saying anything about that. And that is the real issue, your risk of getting sick after getting after get both vaccines is almost eliminated, but you still can be a carrier and a spreader.
As for the masks, why on earth would places eliminate mask requirements within a week of Dr. Fauci talking about the reality that we may need to be DOUBLE masking.

I live in the Twin Cities and I would say a few months ago, we were at close to 95% of ppl wearing them. I see far fewer now, though. IDC...I can only control me so it's doesn't bother me at all, and I surely hope they don't feel judged (by me or others). That said, we bought vacation property in NW Wisconsin and went up there last weekend. Being that we are so used to wearing them, it was just second nature to grab them and put them on before going into the stores up there.

We were the only ones, outside of the ppl working, to be wearing them. And they DEFINITELY judged us! Ha. Again, I can only control me, so whatever...but so weird that only 15 miles in from the MN border, it was like a different world.

I would LIKE to be done with masks ASAP, but I will go by what I observe with watching the virus trends. I just got some new pretty ones, so...I see them as accessories vs "muzzles" as some like to say.

I also live in the TC area. IMO most people are wearing masks but there are certainly some that are not. I have not been to WI recently.
The judging part can be prevalent at times; it makes me sad that there are people that choose to be ignorant about this. IMO

All of this has been proven scientifically so not really sure if it is an ignorance issue or....not really sure what it is. It may be lack of education.
It makes me want to be unsympathetic to those who choose not to get the vaccine, or do what is asked to limit the spread, but when they do get COVID go for medical help and take away resources from those who have at least tried. I do admit this is not a nice thought. IMO people are dying from people not looking after others and the greater good.

Good on you, and I agree, you can only control yourself.
I thank you for looking out for others in your community.
Stay safe everyone! :flower1:

I am with you. Was stuck in one for 1.5 hours at my kids well visit and it’s awful and left with a very irritated nose and ended up coughing for next hour. I don’t handle them well no matter what one I try. Thank goodness I live in an area that has no mandates and not a ton of places require or enforce.

Actually there has been multiple reports that those vaccinated reduce the spread. Sure there a chance but it’s so low because the viral load in the person is too low to really spread, especially most places in public.

A link would be appreciated because I sure can't find anything, nor can our reporter who is working full time on the covid pandemic.

IMO we all agree with you; please consider those who have caught the virus; a person can't catch their breath because their lungs are failing because COVID has destroyed their lung tissue so they no longer can do oxygen exchange. You would not be ever able to catch your breath so you are put on a ventilator which only forces oxygen into your lungs but does not ensure the oxygen gets into your body because your lung tissue is inflamed or destroyed. This affects every organ, your vascular system, your heart etc., in your body; your body starts to die from lack of oxygen. Many have long term physical affects from the virus which we are only beginning to know about. Too many have died as you know.
This has happen to people no matter how old you are.
This is the basic physiology of the COVID virus and what it does to the human body, so I hope you do your best to help others from getting this horrific thing.

And then there is Karma.....

Stay safe all!

Agree, and a good portion of what is reported in the Media is incorrect or speculation. IMO.
Lots of 'experts' that are not experts.....

You have to give the credible sources, you did say multiple, for this...so not true based on the research and the current data.
I am in healthcare so I would like to know.
Thanks.

Think about the bigger picture please; if your kids were in the hospital because of Covid you would need to wear a mask for a lot longer than 1.5 hours. It has happened; please don't ignore that it can happen to anyone. It has happened and no one ever believes it will happen to them. It does and can.
Please be safe even though it is an inconvenience; there are much worse inconveniences.
Stay safe!

Where I live in NJ everyone wears a masks and all stores require them. I've had Covid and it was not fun, but as soon as masks are no longer *needed* (note I didn't say mandated), I'm not going to wear one anymore. I don't like them for various reasons, stated by other people, but I wear them religiously because I have to. I'm going to WDW in December and will be masked up for most of 7 days. Am I looking forward to that? No.

No one likes wearing a mask....
Glad you recovered from Covid.

You keep stating that no one likes wearing a mask and then you go off on a passive-aggressive rant on posters that state their reasons why they don't like wearing them. We all get it, we get the good reasons why we need to wear one. Life is still happening however, and I'm going to be one of the ones who lives it again someday how it's meant to be lived. I probably will still wear one when I'm ill, because I think it's a good idea, but I'm not going to be masked up until I kick the bucket.
