BWV Refurb Progress

The last date given was August or September but that was for everything including the outside work. The inside work in the rooms is likely to be done within the next couple months.

HOPE SO! Can't wait to see the renovation in October!:dance3:

Hello, everyone! We just got back from a Dreams Come True trip and stayed the last two nights at Wilderness Lodge in a 2-BDRM villa. Those villas have been renovated and still have a nice ledge around the inside and outside of the shower. So I wonder why BWV decided to remove them? We are coming back in May, so hopefully progress will be pretty far along (or finished) by then?

Good question, about the ledge! At least there's a (small-ish) triangular soap dish, so better than nothing.

They seem to be changing options in each refurb. Full glass is now the thing so that's what they are doing vs the pony walls they had originally. Though there were so many quality issues with the VWL refurb I am at least glad they kept the half walls for the shower. ::yes:: But as mentioned at least they got a soap holder built into BWV. BLT never got those from the start!

I have a garden view studio for the Star Wars Half Marathon in April.
Does anyone know if all those studios have been renovated yet ??

It was recently reported that the last wing is now blocked off for refurbishment, which means that all inhabitable rooms have been finished. Enjoy!

Not realizing they were working on it, we entered the ground floor from the parking lot last week. There wasn't any sign!
We kept walking through, but at the second hallway there were workmen - we were scolded for being in the "construction zone" and escorted to the closest stairwell. :)

We just stayed at BWV this past weekend, in a renovated room and we hated it. It looked cheaply done - the new furniture looks like they got it at a cheapo warehouse furniture place (the pop up table looks Motel 6 quality, of cheap plasticy veneer; the square cheap chrome light fixtures were off center and off kilter and stylistically all wrong), there are entirely too many different styles of furniture going on - from a vestige of 1900's Boardwalk to Danish Modern to tacky 1970's to refined contemporary - just..... weird looking. The blue colors, when looking at them in person, not only did not match, they didn't even coordinate and were jarring/jolting to the eye. Just really bad color combinations - do they know about the color wheel???

The gigantic tv dominated the entire room, a big black stark rectangle, impossible to cover up or ignore. Now I know some folks like their tv time, but that isn't really what we come to Disney for. If a big-screen tv is necessary for some, it should at least make some attempt to blend into the decor in some way, or there should be a way to close doors on it, or something.

The art was modern, the bedding was boring white and thin, had that short-sheeted effect, where you never really feel there are enough covers, and spend the entire night trying to grab them from your bed-mate. The light fixtures were placed strangely, completely out of character for a 1900's Boardwalk, and just plain ugly. I remember seeing lights just like the one over the bed in all the "number" hotels (Motel 6, Super 8) when I was a kid! The couch looked just like one my sister had in her apartment in the 1980's - seriously. There was just a complete absense of any cohesiveness of theme, or color, or style.

Who in the world did they get to do this "design", if one can call it that? It really, truly looks like some bean counter without an aesthetic bone in his body, and certainly without any kind of art or design background went down to the local "Rooms to Go" store and picked out the cheapest stuff he could find. Hoping against hope that they don't botch the "renovations" at our beloved Beach Club and all the rest to follow in this horrendous manner.

Disney always speaks of a backstory, a theme. I can't figure out what the theme might be. My wife thinks the story is a college student who randomly grabbed furniture from different friends for their apartment. Definitely not a Disney inspired story. I think it is a story of having 5 or 6 different people responsible to purchase and they were blindfolded and not allow to talk to other buyers. I say buyers because I can't believe it was a designer.

Yes, Yes, Yes! You captured just what we thought when we saw it. But you said it so much better than I did!

.

This actually reminded me how much I disliked the same gigantic TV in the master of the 1BR's. I'd turn it on at night and be overwhelmed by the light! I guess it was easier to just order the same size TV's but no need for that size in the small bedroom. And I'm one who does like the TV on.

Any new updates on the renovation? We are going next month and staying in 2 bedroom standard view villa. Pretty good chance it will be renovated? Is the painting still taking place?

They are working on the last room section so you'll be in a refurbed room. I peeked into the 1st floor area a couple days ago and the hallways appeared to be done but there was still a heavy paint smell. I expect that will be done in the next week or two also. Outdoor and common area painting has been ongoing.

I was happy when I called member services this morning and was told ALL OF BWV was completely done (aside from exterior painting etc). I had switched to BWV for my June trip from BCV....guy told me the BWV crew is all down at the BCVs now....

Thanks for the info!! Is there scaffolding and painters all over the place in the common areas or is it pretty low key? Just curious! Does it feel like there is a lot of construction going on when you Are there? Thanks everyone in advance! Got my magic bands in the mail today!!! So excited!

Glad to hear it is all done... We are there 6/24-7/1.. Thank goodness we switched from the BCV to BWV.

Well, MS gave you incorrect information. The 1st floor of the pool/garden view/standard view is still closed off as of today. However as I mention just above it appears they are likely finishing up painting. The doors are all taped to protect handles and peep holes. I don't think it will be long but inside work is not completed. Since it's the last section anyone checking in will get a refurbished room.

I'm sure that MS means well but they aren't even in the same city as WDW. All they know is what they are told, sometimes they get updates, sometimes they don't, sometimes they don't take the time to read the updates.
