We're staying at the comfort inn at lake buena vista who have decided that today and tomorrow they are not going to serve food. Everywhere else is going to be closed so not sure what we are going to do for food.
First time in a hurricane situation so at a loss what to do
That's adorable, she's pretty awesome!Kristin Bell doing an amazing job lifting spirits while she shelters at Disney World

I agree. But I don't think it's at all helpful to keep repeating it at this point.Again, i dont want this to escalate into anything overly negative, now is not the time for that. But i am a big believer in personal accountabilty, especially in a time of a natural disaster when resources will be spread so thin. You can't expect or anticipate anyone else taking care of you.
I'm really curious about this. At the height of the storm when the wind is blowing, how are people getting their pets out to do their business? We're at BWI right now. I agree Disney is doing everything they can to make this experience as pleasant as possible. They've even let people bring their pets. There are dogs everywhere & even a couple of large lizards.
Watch is ok, but there's been Tornado cells in the area since this morning. They just announced Orlando is under a tornado watch.
And that will continue. Those bands are rotating and the individual cells are rotating. I know there was a spotted tornado in the Ft. Lauderdale area, near the airport.Watch is ok, but there's been Tornado cells in the area since this morning.
Finally, a serious and important question. During the 4 hurricanes in 2004, our little guy had no problem. You take them out between the bands when it's stopped raining and the winds have slowed down somewhat. He's 14 years old now but still active and has a brother, so we'll be doing the same with both of them. And now you know the rest of the story.I'm really curious about this. At the height of the storm when the wind is blowing, how are people getting their pets out to do their business? Inquiring minds want to know.....

I also apologize for all of the people who have been a bit harsh. I hope all goes well for you.
The OP is apparently from the UK or somewhere overseas, and a natural disaster which is never seen there, is happening here. For those judging rather than offering helpful suggestions, imagine yourself overseas and facing an emergency. No doubt your level of preparedness would be different than if the emergency was in your own country.
My friend threw his back out while in Italy, once. Even getting him medicine and unguents was 10x more stressful than if we had been in the US. Now multiply that with the current situation, and spare a little empathy for Mr. Matthews and his family, if you can.

Yes it is. I'm more concerned about tornadoes than Irma. They can sneak up on you with very little warning and cause severe damage. So it is a real concern.
