I'm not really a cookie person - I can't remember the last time I bought packaged cookies and I could probably go the rest of my life without ever eating another cookie of any kind and not miss them. BUT...I totally agree with you that if I had to choose, it would definitely be something I bake myself in exactly the way I like it. I make some great ones at Christmas and I'd have a hard time choosing a favourite between the jam thumbprints, whipped shortbread and old family recipes for gingersnaps and coconut meringues. My homemade m&m cookies
*that sounds kinda snooty that they need to be mine, but I love mine ❤
Yep, me too.Oatmeal raisin. Dual purpose...dessert and breakfast meal replacement
Gotta disagree. Original Oreos are superior ... it's not about "more"; it's about the right ratio/proportion of cookie to "stuff".Because the 'stuff' is where it's at
I bought these once from the grocery store. They were relatively expensive, and the taste was just average. Since so many of you seem to love them, I assume the grocery store type I tried was sub-par.Perfectly baked giant classic black and white cookie.
Honestly, every recipe I've ever tried from Sally's Baking Addiction has flopped. I actively avoid her recipes, but The Brown Eyed Baker has never let me down. All NY’s know this cookie well. My grandma (may she R.I.P.) always made the best ones in my opinion. My dad knows the recipe but still won’t give it to me yet (LOL). Here’s one I found online:

I was just thinking, "Is no one going to say Thin Mints?" I mean, they are an institution, and I absolutely adore them -- and I'm NOT even a big fan of mint! Again, these cookies are just the right ratio/proportion; that small mint taste is "just enough" without overwhelming.Girl Scout Thin Mints, preferably frozen. But I can do room temperature.
https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/duffs-black-and-white-cookie-recipe-1956875If I could only have one cookie forever, it'd be a Peanut Butter Cowboy Cookie -- homemade, of course. I prefer the peanut butter base to a "plain base" you'd have in an ordinary chocolate chip cookie -- they're kind of a halfway point between an oatmeal raisin and a chocolate chip cookie. And a cowboy cookie incorporates a bit of oats and coconut flakes into the base, giving it some "chew". Thick in the middle, Cowboy cookies have either chocolate chips OR M&Ms and other mix-ins.
