Welcome home. It is always so sad coming back. But at least if you have a trip planned and helps with the Disney blues.

What did you like about July over June? We went in 2006 at the end of June and stayed through 4th of July and it was just so hot. People can't believe that I am going back again in the summer.

We just got back from Disney yesterday morning in the wee hours and I'm already planning our next vacation. Is that sad??? We really enjoy Disney and the kids do too so we are headed back. We usually stay at WL but this year with a circumstance beyond our control, we ended up staying one more night at Disney. There were no rooms at WL (100% of the resort was booked for the night we needed to stay) so we headed on over to AKL to try that out. We have never stepped foot in AKL before, but we were taken by how nice the lobby, Boma, and the rooms were. I love the theming. We are thinking of heading back in July of next year already. We don't mind July even though this year was really really hot. So...let the trip planning begin. I have already done some pre-planning by writing down things we have to do next year, restaurants we do and don't want to do again, and prices (I know they will change) but just to get an idea. I can't wait! I am already in Disney withdraw.

You should post some of you knowledge with dealing with the heat. We went one year in 2006 at the end of June and stayed til the 4th. I vowed never to go back again in the heat but this is our only chance to stay 2 weeks. So I am giving myself a year to prepare mentally.

It was extremely hot this past week. Orlando hit record temps and the heat index was bad, but that being said, we did okay. With traveling with two little ones, we hit early morning rope drops or morning EMH whenever possible. We ride a few rides at rope drop, then sit down for breakfast, then go on more rides before it gets too hot and too crowded. Then, we head back to the hotel around 12-1, but no later than 1 and stay in the air or hit the pool for a while. We usually head back out around 5 or 6. We eat dinner and then we do a few more rides at a park until 8 or so. We usually head out before fireworks or parades start (we save one night for our late night with fireworks) and the kids are usually in bed by 9. It makes it far easier in the heat. With our schedule, we only missed a few attractions/ride and nothing I would really miss too much. We have gone the last few years in July or early August. Being a teacher, I don't have much of a choice. I would be glad to help with other tips for surviving the heat. I am just happy to have people to start planning with. It's never to early to plan your next Disney vacation right?

That is how we actually do the parks now. I am a morning person so we always shoot for rope drop. How early did the parks open? I need to look at the park hours just to get a feel for next year so we can start planning. You can never start too early.

The parks open at 9:00, but with EMH starting at 8:00 we aimed to get there each day by 7:45 at the latest. It worked well for us. I wish we could go a different time just for something new, but spring break is never enough time for us and it's late this year compared to last year so we are just going to wait for July when it's cheaper for us to go.

We just loved AKL. We rented some points for our trip in April and just fell in love. So much that we bought DVC after we got home.

Of course.... aboard. Congrats on your upcoming wedding. We honeymooned at Disney way back in 1996. This was DH's first time and he became hooked.

June 20th - 1 night at AKL Kidani Village

21st to 26th - 5 night cruise on the Disney Dream (this is booked!)

26th to July 3rd - 7 nights at the Grand Floridian

Should be an amazing trip!!
