November 11, 2006 - MAGIC - Special Western "Double Dip" Cruise 11/11/06

OK you world travelers, my older sister and I are STILL unable to figure out where to go this summer. We need to stay in an RCI exchange property, we need the airfare not to be pricey (from Chicago/Phoenix), sister insists on some 'culture' being available (so no cabin in the woods/10 miles to town kind of thing).

We have been discussing 'the mountains'. Has anyone been to Whistler? There is a whole collection of "Whiskey Jack" properties, but we need to find out WHICH one(s) would work for us. We need A RESTAURANT in the resort (for those don't want to leave the building to eat needs) and would like to be walking distance to 'town'.

Any suggestions?

My suggestion is Jamestown VA. It is 200 years old this year. In fact the Queen is coming for an event. It is not far from Williamsburg which also has culture, food and shopping.

Not to mention it is not far from Linda, Sarah, Win and I.

Lots more in II.....

let me see trading spaces international Jackie - they would take your week there as a depost and give u a bonus week, too.

Jackie, just checked Trading Places http://www.tradingplaces.com/ - no Williamsburgh but you should check it out and see if there is anything that would work for you......

Thanks guys! I still haven't spoken to Dianne yet, but I bet she'll say VA in the summer is her idea of h e double hockey sticks....ALTHOUGH...I could be wrong.

PLUS I don't believe I can TRADE for a time share. I don't own a week, I own points. My only option is Shell properties or RCI listed properties. However I will put in a call to Shell as soon as I get a break at work and make sure I'm remembering this correctly

Oh Oh Oh.....I just remembered, my boss has a time share week in Williamsburg sometime in the SPRING. I'll check on that at work tomorrow. I think I remember her saying she usually even forgets to trade it (and never uses it!!!)

Sort of :confused3 right - they are your points to reserve a stay with Shell - u can rent it or use it or deposit it with RCI or ANY of the other independent TS exchange companies.
A nice upscale one that has lots of availability in your area is SFX - http://www.sfx-resorts.com/ - check out their site and talk to me. You own a very valuable property and can make it work to your advantage. RCI is probably your least attractive option.......let's talk soon!

I feel for ya sister! Good luck pinning down the eldest one, she's HARD to work with. I love her, but better you than me.:lmao:

Hey guys....just thought I'd let you know (in case you hadn't read it)...

Pikey is back on the Magic.....

YIPPEE:cool1: :woohoo:

Well after almost half my life with Unisource I have had it. My last day is Friday well it was supposed to be Thursday but they asked me to drive to Windsor Ct. So I am going to say that there is no chance of taking a cruise this year. But I might just try and do the Panama Canal crossing. But my Mother en-law said some thing about taking a Disney cruise for there 40th or 50th anniversary I have no idea when that is or what they plan on doing.

I bought a new notebook on Friday; still don't have DW's back from HP. I guess fire is one of those kinds of problems that takes a little extra time.

Best of luck Devin! Sending you some extra pixie dust....pixiedust:

I'll make a mental note that fire is not the quickest form of obtaining a new computer...:firefight

Devin, here's hoping you'll find a new and better work environment. I just realized I've been with my company for nearly half my life also! What an adjustment it would be to leave, even when things aren't going great.

Best of luck in your new endeavours!

Are you open to re-location? Since you have all that experience I'm thinking maybe NPL has something for you. Our biggest office near you is in Baltimore however, but it might be worth a call into the REgional Manager there, he might have work for you in your neck of the woods too - who knows. P.M. me if you'd like to look, into it. OK? Good luck!:cheer2:

nope I am staying right where I am they do all there tranning in NJ.

I got ome yesterday and when I checked my email I could't believe the news of two new ships WOW

Hello everyone
Its been a long time since I've dropped by. Hope all is well with everyone.
I still haven't booked our next cruise and its driving me crazy. My freinds that traveled with us last cruise want to go again and it is really hard to all agree on which cruise to take. Now it looks like we will be on either the 10/25/08 or the 11/1/08. I would rather the 10/25 but my friends would like to do a different itinerary then last cruise. Oh what to do.....
Devin
I hope your hanging in there. you guys have really been on a crazy roller coaster ride the last few years..

We find two stops at Castaway Cay irresistable, so we booked the 10/25/08 double dip. Plus, it will be fun to experience Halloween onboard. Dizney-Cruiser (Janice and DSis) are also on the 10/25. Come join us.

My heart really wants to be on the 11/25/08, but it seems to be a really hard sell to one of my friends. My DH thinks I should just book it and tell them if they want to cruise with us come along on 10/25. I think that would be a little harsh. My DS really wants to cruise during halloween. I will be booking something within the next two weeks!!!!
Has anyone gone on the western when it goes to Grand Caymen. I know it is a tender and I am concerned that Disney would recommend not taking Angelina off in her wheelchair( Thay had sent me a letter prior to our last sailing that if Cozumel was still a tender they would advise not taking a w/c off the ship)Any ideas?

Michelle, both Jeff and I remember it really rocking when we were getting on the tender. But that may have just been rough seas. I know others have been to Grand Caymen multiple times so they can be of more help on whether it is always that way when you board the tender.

I didn't get to talk to you really onboard...can Angelina be taken out of her chair just to get on and off the tender? DCL may have that be an option rather than have her buckled in the chair in case something went wrong with the chair on the ramp and etc. I'll be onboard again this winter and we're going to GC but until then I really can't give any better info than that...sorry...:sad1:
