DDA Chapter 11

Debbie-stay safe!

Janet-look into a quiet dishwasher-ours is too loud to hear the TV over so DH often forgets to turn it on-even though it has a delay function. When I try to do the dishes he takes them out and reloads it so I don't try anymore.

Did you hear the rumor about the box in Virginia? The one where the box is not going anywhere for a few days because the sender can't find time to breath, let alone wrap it and get it to the post office? I think it's supposed to go out this weekend though. :thumbsup2
I heard there was a box like that on the south coast of MA.

My Grandpa is in the hospital.
:wizard:

Leighanna has school today, and is off tomorrow. She has a couple of tests today, hopefully she is prepared for them.

Leighanna is doing really well in school. Except for her behavior. She is such a clown, and she is getting in trouble for it.

Yesterday she had her card turned to yellow, so she had to sit in another classroom during a birthday party.

I am trying to let her know that I don't think that that behavior is acceptable. She told Angie last night that she only does it because Daddy is so funny, and she can't help it!

I guess it is all my fault!:rotfl:
I bet your DW if happy with you.:rolleyes1

:yay: I was able to book the Wanyama Safari for our arrival day so I don't even need to add on a night. There is my Christmas present to Bob taken care of. Let's hope the two of us can stand eating at Jiko twice that week; we are taking the girls there for Christmas Dinner.
:woohoo: How exciting!

I would have never even thought to apply to the Visitors Bureau....I am so stoked to write this essay, even if it's not a subject I know much about.
:wizard: Good luck!

I have worked on Tater all day. Well I ran out the get the kids as it was early release, but all day other than that. I think he is looking good. Nick has no yellow shoes or pants so I'm not sure what we will do about that area

Here are a few shots of Tater

I tried to make the visor of the hat match, but I'm not sure that I was successful.
So cool!!!

I was at work on 9/11, I still remember my cash office person coming out and telling everyone what was happening. I can honesly say that year was the worst year of my life. I lost my mom three weeks later on 10/05.

The wind is pretty strong outside but we shouldn't get anything major.

So my parents are now wavering on whether or not they are going with us to WDW in December. I know it's miniscule to some issues, but please send some pd that they will go with. I was talking to my dad this afternoon and he said Eh, we'll go some other time. My response: you don't know how many other times you have left!
\
Good point! I hope they go with you tammi!

Are your parents in poor health? I do hope they decide to join you! :wizard:

I talked to Susan today. Her dad had his surgery last Friday. There are several huge, inoperable tumors, so I just don't know what his prognosis is. She said he had some complications with his incision opening back up earlier this week. They wanted him to remain hospitalized through Saturday, but then told him to go home today because they needed to make room for hurricane victims! :scared1: There is no way I would have allowed that. NO WAY. So he has gone back home to his small town east of here. :sad2: Susan said he's not strong enough for chemo and he's not a candidate for radiation, so they are just waiting to see what happens next.

What an awful time for you. :guilty:

Not really....well, my dad always has some 'issue' going on, but nothing major. He comes from a bad gene pool. His parents and a brother and sister have all died in their late 60's early 70's. Not looking too good for me!

:wizard: for Susan and her dad. I hope that they can make him comfortable at least, if there isn't anything they can or will do.

I'm going to bed. See you in Chapter 12!

okay-I've tried doing the research into this well researched essay....there ain't anything out there!!:headache:

So I'm going to bed before my head explodes!!

Well, I hope you can convince them to go to WDW.
I feel bad for Susan. I think they are hoping the surgery will buy him more time, but there are tumors in his lungs and around his heart. I am hoping for peace for all of them.
Good night!

I hope your head doesn't explode!

DH is voicing some concerns about trying to drive the trucks for work in 70 mph winds. I told him we will not risk our lives for chips, period, the end. It's out of character for him to be worried about weather conditions.

There is a guy on the Photo forum trying to figure out how to take pics of Ike without ruining his camera in the rain!

Good afternoon, DDA!

Well, I sent the car to work with Phil so we'd be "forced" to stay home and then Kristi called to see if we wanted to go to Chick-fil-A for breakfast. So, she picked up Terra, Mom and me and we had breakfast and the kids played. I have managed to finish the laundry though. Plus, all of the papers for Terra's autograph cards are cut. I just need to color the corners and stick it all together. Kitchen is almost clean, as is the living room. I think that about wraps up my list. Tomorrow I'm going to sew my Minnie Mouse skirt, the trick or treat bags and Terra has two shirts she wants to do the shoe print painting (was it you that did those, Tammi?) on. She is dying for a peace sign shirt and the other will be Mickey. Man, I've got to quit typing this out as I keep thinking of more things I need to do tomorrow the longer I type.

Jennifer - How's your finalizing, planning, packing, etc coming?

Janet - We are eating at Tusker House. I'll make a note about the bread.

We did the shoe print shirts. They were so easy and the kids loved to make them :thumbsup2

Well, I was wrong about Ike, I didn't think we would feel the effects. But we are now under a Tropical Storm warning, we already have some local flooding and we've had a couple of feeder bands pass through the area.

I watched the news earlier and they were saying that storm was 1000 miles wide :scared1: Hopefully you only get a bit of rain as this is looking to be one nasty storm.

Has anyone heard from Karen?

Not really....well, my dad always has some 'issue' going on, but nothing major. He comes from a bad gene pool. His parents and a brother and sister have all died in their late 60's early 70's. Not looking too good for me!

My Mother's Dad died at 54, my Dad's parents in their 60's and my Mom's Mom was 82. So where do I fit in? :confused3

I never learned to play one, don't even know what it is. And as far as I know, no one after me learned to play one either.

Opps, I meant in the schools by me. Not everyone in the world.;) :lmao: :rotfl:

I should head to bed as I have so much to accomplish in a short amount of time tomorrow. The boys are so excited to wear their costumes so I guess my job is done. :rotfl: I'm even excited that Chris and I will be going to the race together. It's like a date :goodvibes

Is anyone up for assisting Nicholas with his Flat Stanley project. We have to send FS off for a month or so, and you are requested to keep a journal, attach pictures and send postcards. We would really appreciate it. After everyone jumps at the chance ;), if you don't mind, I'll let him choose where he wants FS to 'vacation.' TIA!
I'm going to Disney next month......:goodvibes :goodvibes

There is no way I'm going to catch up. No way. My week is as bad as I thought it would be. :scared1: :scared1: Talk about stress.

My twin has turned into Tiny Tears.:sad1: :sad1:

I can't wait until Friday. Just can't wait.

Kristine, great news on the upgrade! :goodvibes

Theresa, great news on the trip!:goodvibes

Deb, you are sooooo creative. Love the costume.:goodvibes

Well, I didn't get a chance to read too much more. Sorry. I'll catch up next week. I want my bed.

I was working at a call center and while people were calling in, they were giving us bits and pieces of what was happening. I really didn't see any television until I got home. Then all I could do was cry.

That Saturday my oldest son was getting married so a few very important people were not able to make it in for the wedding and that was so very frustrating. I cried all week. Thank goodness Stephanie was there for me. The following weekend, Hal and I went down to WV and it was so strange to see no planes in the sky.

An online friend told me that there had been an accident in New York. At that point they thought it was a random accident. I turned on the television and saw the second plane hit. I called Bob to tell him and to ask if he had heard anything and to ask if he would please call me because I had to go to work.

I had four families coming in at 9:30 for their first class with their 3 year olds. The plane had not hit the Pentagon yet. I remember when the barber next door came over to tell us about that and one of the mother's started a keening moan I will never forget. Her husband worked at the Pentagon. He survived. All of our good friends who worked at the Pentagon survived. My boss' son's sister-in-law did not. One of my student's fathers missed his flight that morning... it impacted the Pentagon.

We live along the flight paths for both Reagan National and Dulles airports and it is never quiet here. For the next few months it was so quiet it was eery. I flew to WDW for a Ladies Only weekend on September 26 (oddly, the same date we are going this year) and everyone was being frisked or wanded. We were not allowed out of our seats in a flight from either of the airports for 30 minutes for years afterward.

I will never forget.

I beat the school to the punch. They advertised Patriot Day in school and told the kids to wear red, white and blue. So while he was getting ready this morning I asked him if he knew why it was Patriot Day or why they wanted the kids to wear the colors. He said no, of course, and I asked his if he had ever heard of 9-11. No again. I made it real simple in the fact that their were people from other countries that didn't like Americans and because of that they flew airplanes into building in NY, in DC (not really but it was easier) and into the ground in PA, causing thousands of people to die. Then I said that we wear our colors to show that we are proud to be Americans and to remember those that died. He seemed satisfied with it. I just didn't want him hearing things from other kids and not understand, so that was my 8 yr old version of facts.

That was perfectly said, Tammi. You told him all he needed to know. He will come to you to ask questions if necessary.

Stephanie and Terry - I hope Friday gets here very quickly and passes by without any more stress for you.
