September 2011 - We are going to Disney World {THIS MONTH}! (Third Thread)

Aww, I'll miss you guys next September! We've decided that since we are planning on heading to Hawaii in May/June (yay, Aulani!!!) that we will wait and head to WDW in November. I've always wanted to hit F&W, so we are going to do a long weekend and try that.

It will be odd to not plan a trip for September. We haven't missed a September in a loooong time. I'm not sure what I will do with myself. :scared1:

Hi everyone!! :flower3:

So... questions...

What restaurant did you go to this trip that you loved and want to do again

Any that you didn't care for and want to avoid next time?

Did you love where you stayed? Is that where you would return to?

Or is there somewhere else you would like to try..?

It is getting cold here so my dreams are turning to WDW ..as usual :lovestruc

So... ANSWERS!

What restaurant did you go to this trip that you loved and want to do again?

We only ate at Tony's for sit-down. It was our first time there and I was impressed with the vegetarian gnocchi dish. However, they were extremely busy and our waitress seemed tired or overwhelmed. Also, the women's bathroom was filthy. Overflowing trash, dirty toilet seats, etc. So the food was good, but the overall experience could have been a little better. Still, I think every restaurant is worth trying at least once or giving it another chance!

Any that you didn't care for and want to avoid next time?

I don't think any restaurant is worth avoiding. :) Try them all!

Did you love where you stayed? Is that where you would return to?

We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter for the first time. It was neat. We didn't get a chance to explore too much, but we enjoyed it. We had a recently refurbished room that actually turned out to be dirty and wreaked of smoke. Very disappointed in that, since it detracted from the upgrades they just made to it. Again, the resort is worth trying and we wouldn't be opposed to going back, but our personal experience could have been better.

Or is there somewhere else you would like to try..?

We try not to stay at the same resort twice, since we want to try them all. So we would try any resort that we haven't yet visited!

1. We will be going again to Tokyo Dining next week and Kona Cafe (I actually did go again on my solo trip).

2. One to avoid based on my solo trip was Hollywood Brown Derby, will never waste my money again at that place. I hated it. I would prefer to try a different QS at DHS next time. Besides the chix salad, nothing looked good to us at Pizza Planet.

3. I loved POP and will be staying again next week, but only for a day though. Dbf didn't like it as much and wanted to try something else. He thought it was too loud and visually overwhelming. So we got such a great deal for WL and BWV we couldn't say no. (well we could have but chose not to :rotfl:)

Went QS, but ate at Pinocchio's for the first time and loved the Mediteranean inspired salad. Made for a refreshing and tasty change of pace.

Not a fan of Marakesh, we ate there several years ago and from what I read it hasn't improved. Don't get me wrong, we love Morrocan food, but it isn't done well.

Stayed at Pop on quiet lake facing side and will again. Right price for a quick sleep between parks.

The 4 restaurants we went to were...

Hoop Dee Doo... was fun but the food wasn't as good as I expected, probably won't return but was worth the experience.

Yak & Yeti... this was our 2nd time there... I loved it the 1st time, this time was just ok... but I think it was more me than the food (having been sick the week before, nothing was tasting right)... may return.

Boatwrights... Food was pretty good, but not a lot of choices... would return, but not sure if I would go out of my way to do so.

Cape May Cafe... AWESOME seafood!!! I loaded down with crab legs, but I smelled a fishy smell around me for 2 weeks after!!! Only negative is transportation... we had some issues getting there and returning to our resort, but other than that I would definately return.

We stayed at POR and I absolutely LOVED IT!!!!! The most amazing scenery... However, don't know if I can return there due to the high cost... will probably have to stick with my favorite value.. POP

We tried Cape May for the first time this trip and loved it. We would go back again for sure.

None this trip.

Loved Wilderness Lodge. If we got as good a deal, we would go back.

We would like to try Pop

Thanks for the ???s It helps to think back to our trip. I wish we could go in November before our AP expires, but not going to happen.:sad2:

What about your answers MamaJessie?

Here's a question for everyone: Has anyone started their Christmas shopping? Does anyone do Black Friday? Well, I guess that's two questions.:rotfl:

Oh heck yeah I am a black Friday shopper :woohoo: Already checking the leaked fliers lol I have bought thee Christmas gifts so far, which is practically nothing..

As for my answers...

T-Rex. I know it isn't a DDP restaurant but it was so much better than I thought it would be.

Nope, liked all that we did. Except maybe the schoolbread at kringla. I felt like I was on candid camera. People really like that? DH got the rice cream and it was very good though!!

Did you love where you stayed? Is that where you would return to?
We were off site, and no we did not love it for how I like to vacation. Want the Ft. Wilderness cabins because of the amount of us lol. If $$ was no object I would love to try the Poly or Contemporary.

Poor you! That has to be an absolute nightmare! I am one of the crazy millions out there at 3:30am - (never have done midnight at the outlet malls). We hit up Kohl's, Best Buy, Sears, Target and swing by Sam's for free breakfast before doing the smaller shops. Usually done and broke by noon and ready for a nap and the we are off to the outlet malls. It's become such a tradition that my friend's mother comes in from Florida just to shop with us.

I'll bet your day goes really fast! I know mine did a couple of years ago when I worked for Kohl's for the holiday. We were so busy on BF that it was over before I knew it. Hope this BF is a good one for you!

That sounds like me. Done and broke by noon! But I love being out there with the crazies. I don't have many friends who are willing to brave it with me, but once in a while I have a shopping buddy. At least when I go alone, I can go where I need to go.;)

I was going to get the boys Disney AP's for Christmas, but got them a few weeks ago so we could go for my oldest's birthday. So that was his bday present instead. I am trying to figure out what to get them now??? They are the only two I shop for.

Dbf and I have decided this year we are going to save money for our anniversary trip in January, so we won't be exchanging gifts this year. Well, that is what we agreed on, but I am sure we will do something small for each other. (Last year we did a combo xmas/valentine's trip for a Buffalo Sabres game in south Florida)

I wish I could do Black Friday, but I have to be at work at 6am that day. It is one of our busiest days at work, so I cannot take it off. I do participate in Cyber Monday though. :rotfl:

I worked seasonal retail once at bath and Body and the store was set up so well that it all went smoothly. Then again I didn't go in until noon or so which was nice.

I considered applying for a seasonal job at the disney store. It's 20-25 minutes away but if I could work a full shift saturdays and sundays it would be worth the drive to me. I wonder if seasonal workers get any discounts...

I am pretty lucky when it comes to the Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales... I am a 3rd Shift cashier, so most of my shift will still be pretty quiet, people waiting in line, some coming up and buying drinks to pass the time, but not a whole lot. Our store also has a pretty good set up that we rarely have issues.. which is wonderful.. but the best part... I usually get off work an hour or so after the sales start, so by the time I am off and can shop the lines are down (hopefully not picked over)

For my seasonal job we were able to select things the day before and put them aside to purchase when we were on break or off shift. That was extremely helpful! It was also organized in such a way as to be a efficient as possible. When you shop on BF, it's kinda like being at Disney. You know there will be lines, but you think it's worth it.:lmao:

janabananas: what ages are your boys? They can be so difficult to buy for! My two always wanted electronics of some kind. Their toys can be very expensive, right? Good luck!

They are 13 and 8. The little guy would be really easy to shop for, if it wasn't for the older one's influence.... I am thinking electronics (maybe a new xbox 360) but they love Lego's and I saw some that I think they will like. They made a wish list on Amazon too, so I will probably end up picking off that. Now that Walmart has layaway again (well kind of) I may go over there and take advantage of it.
