April Check-In **Official**

Okay, everyone should be added to this point! As always, if I missed you, please let me know.

In the meantime, let's play a game. For veterans this should be easy; for newbies (like us!), take your best guess.

What is:

1) The first thing you will do when you get to Disneyland?
2) The food, snack, treat, or beverage you're most looking forward to?
3) The ride or attraction you are most looking forward to?
4) The ride or attraction that isn't your favorite, but you'll go anyway because it's your traveling companion's favorite?
5) The character you would be most excited to get a picture with?

I'll go :)

1. Get a "FIRST VISIT" button for my son.
2. That big Mickey raspberry macaron thing.
3. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Thirteen-year-old me looooooved this ride.
4. Probably Mickey's House? If the line is short, it'll be okay.
5. Joy!

1. Walk through the shops on Main St.
2. Dole Whips and Disney popcorn
3. World of Color, as this was down the first time we were in Disneyland.
4. I'll answer for my DH, as it applies more for him, lol...Buzz.
5. Dopey

My son is looking forward to Buzz almost as much as All The Star Wars Things. A ride where he can shoot a blaster gun?! Yes, please!

What is the difference b/w Gadgets Go Coaster, Goofy's Sky School, and Roger Rabbit? My kids are older (7 and 9) and like the biggest coasters they can get on. But one is similar to Primeval Whirl at AK, right? And maybe one is like Barnstormer at MK? Thanks!

I’ve never ridden any of these rides 😂, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I have watched ride-throughs though. My understanding is that Gadget’s is a small kiddie coaster, Goofy’s is a wild mouse-style coaster which some have described as fun and others as jerky, and Roger Rabbit is a dark ride with a lot of spinning like a top. My five year old will enjoy Gadgets, and probably would like the others, but I don’t think my back would thank me for Goofy’s nor my stomach for Roger, lol.

I would say, Gadgets is similar to Barnstormer. Goofy’s Sky School is similar to Primeval Whirl. Roger Rabbit is a dark ride, not a coaster.

1. Depending on when we get in Saturday night I'll either get a drink at Trader Sam's or walk down Main Street - I'm a "gotta get a castle fix first" type of person
2. I love the beignets, Dole Whip, but I think the thing I'm looking forward to the most are the bao buns at Tropical Hideaway
3. If it's still open in April Indy, always a favorite. If not, I love DLR's Space Mountain
4. Hmmm, this one's hard because I'm visiting the person I spent most of my college/early 20s traveling to Disney with so we have a pretty compatible ride style. I think if her partner wants to do Guardians or Incredicoaster I might be suckered on to it.
5. I always love getting pictures with princesses or Minnie Mouse!

Yeah, Maxpass will make it better, no doubt. Haunted Mansion closed yesterday for a long refurb, going into at least May. :sad1:
Oh no! I completely missed this...this will be really different having it down. My daughter loves it. Also, I find it a great attraction to cool off and wind down...
Oh well 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have been at the Disney parks with multiple rides down. Ya, it’s a bummer but it never ruined my trip.

5) The character you would be most excited to get a picture with?
1. Get a fast pass for Space Mountain, then go for lunch (flight lands at nine in the morning.
2. Churros.
3. I am excited to get into SWGE.
4. Matterhorn.
5. Brer Fox.

1. Probably have lunch in Downtown Disney or Trader Sam’s
2. Darth by Chocolate if they still have it. And lobster nachos!
3. Definitely looking forward to Rise of the Resistance
4. Buzz Lightyear. I have no children but it’s one of my husband’s favorites 🤣
5. Donald Duck!

I'm actually more bummed about Snow White than Haunted Mansion. We'll be at WDW in December so we can ride HM then.

How fun- here's my answer

1) The first thing you will do when you get to Disneyland? Normally I head straight for new Orleans Sq to get either a pirate or Haunted Mansion fix but might try and take the train first this time. I won't be getting there until about 1pm so I usually leave the day open to just seeing shows.
2) The food, snack, treat, or beverage you're most looking forward to? In Disneyland it's Mickey Pretzel but really enjoyed the Mint Julep last time so I"m sure I'll have another one. In DCA not sure if it's a treat but I LOVE the Mickey faced Sourdough bread!
3) The ride or attraction you are most looking forward to? Haunted Mansion - hope it's open!! Hoping to also get on ROTR again (rode it in WDW)
4) The ride or attraction that isn't your favorite, but you'll go anyway because it's your traveling companion's favorite? This is a solo trip but in general up up for going on any ride except Star Tours ( it makes me sick).
5) The character you would be most excited to get a picture with? I always love to see Mickey & Minnie but I never stand in line. I'm most looking forward to taking a pic as you walk in with the train station in the back.

As much as I hate to admit it the Haunted Mansion is better in WDW. I went on it so many times when I was there! Plus they take your picture on the ride so it's fun to see.

1) The first thing you will do when you get to Disneyland? Book a Board Group for ROTR, lol.
2) The food, snack, treat, or beverage you're most looking forward to? Blue Bayou Dinner. Love that place (especially the fancy lemonade)
3) The ride or attraction you are most looking forward to? ROTR
4) The ride or attraction that isn't your favorite, but you'll go anyway because it's your traveling companion's favorite? Star Tours, makes me ill every time! But my kids love it.
5) The character you would be most excited to get a picture with? STITCH!!!! Highly unlikely, I know. :(

Thanks for the fun suggestion @EmJ

1) The first thing you will do when you get to Disneyland? Cry! I still tear up every time I visit and hear the sights, sounds, and smells. Ugh, so stinkin magical! We will be arriving mid-day, so after we check in at DLH we will take the monorail into DL and I'll secure a FP. It'll depend on the current return times, but I'm hoping for IJ (if its up) or BTMRR. But I'll probably take whichever has the shortest return, and then we will grab a bite to eat.
2) The food, snack, treat, or beverage you're most looking forward to? Forrest Mushroom Pizza at Craftsman Grill! It's our favorite. DH and I make a copycat recipe at home. We are going to examine it very closely this time to make sure it's spot on! After that, I'll be craving my pretzel fix. Carbs are my favorite cheat! :-)
3) The ride or attraction you are most looking forward to? RoTR then the teacups because they are my absolute favorite!
4) The ride or attraction that isn't your favorite, but you'll go anyway because it's your traveling companion's favorite? DH loves DLR as much as me so there is nothing we don't enjoy! Well, actually, DH HATES the Pal Around, but he'll begrudgingly ride for me since I love the views! Stationary of course... no way he'd do swinging again. 🤣
5) The character you would be most excited to get a picture with? I love seeing characters, but I don't love interacting with them. I always feel so awkward and end up saying or doing something really strange. LOL! So yeah, I'd be happy to wave and say hi, but that's about it for me.

Me Too!! I cry during the parades, fantasmic, World of color. You'd think I was having a horrible trip!

1) The first thing you will do when you get to Disneyland? Take a big breath and breathe out a sigh of relief/magic/contentment and cry...a good happy cry, I tear up every time I’m entering and I walk under the bridge. This is all after I try for a boarding pass of course ;-)

2) The food, snack, treat, or beverage you're most looking forward to? I’m looking forward to trying the Fantasmic dessert at River Belle Terrace, I love a warm churro in the evening, and a Mickey pancake from the Red Rose Tavern

3) The ride or attraction you are most looking forward to? Peter Pan gives me a thrill (an internal emotional tickle), but so does Pirates Of The Caribbean. I’m looking forward to those as my favorites. But I’m really really looking forward to ROTR. I’ve avoided all spoilers and descriptions although I have caught wind that’s it’s incredible, so I can’t wait to experience for myself

4) The ride or attraction that isn't your favorite, but you'll go anyway because it's your traveling companion's favorite? I would have too say Gadgets Go Coaster. Maybe I’ll like it??? But it’s the one ride I’ve never done (besides anything in Galaxys Edge because I haven’t been to the parks since it’s opened), and I’m assuming I won’t love it but I don’t like that I’ve never been on it. Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised?

5) The character you would be most excited to get a picture with? any! I love them all. Ok, ok....Snow White!

can anyone tell me about the easter egg hunt? my kids LOVE scavenger hunts at epcot. is this a similar concept?
