Universal will reopen June 5th!

I keep getting the message file or folder removed
Maybe it’s because I’m using the iPhone?

Hmm, odd. I thought it was fixed. I am on an iPad and it works. The actual graphics are in the thread I posted above but the screenshots I took aren’t very legible. Sorry, I was just trying to help answer the question, apparently, I failed!

Even in my state, there are belligerent stupid people who insist that a Covid 19 is just a bad flu. It’s exasperating!

Actually. The cdc has basically just said it is

But keep following CNN, msnbc, or fox news

In Ohio 80% of the deaths have been from nursing homes and prison

California it's roughly 50% in nursing homes, and 80% from people over 65.

Protect the vulnerable and let us go about our lives

Maybe you missed my last post to you where I saw and read the ETA you added.

Appreciated you did the ETA!

I think EP will still be a thing. The reason for no single rider is because they don't to put a random person with another random person.

As far as virtual line, it' like fast pass, the old fast pass. You "grab one" and go back at that time. You then go through the EP line to get on the ride. I've used it for fast and furious before. lol It was nice to skip walking the long empty line.

I was envisioning Virtual Queue and EP to work different, for the time being. I would think that you don't enter the ride queue without either an assigned Virtual time or an EP. I would think you show up, at your designated time and enter through the normal line, which leaves the EP line available for EP holders. Why would you institute Virtual Queues, specifically for the Pandemic and just keep them the same as they are now? Maybe, you use the defunct Single Rider line as the new Virtual Queue. I just think you all but eliminate the value of an EP, if everyone with a virtual time goes in the same line. I agree with what many are saying...if EPs are completely devalued, then Deluxe Hotels are going to be booked much less. We usually have 4 or 5 in our party, so the EPs practically pay for themselves. For single or 2 people, it is much less of a value...depending on your preferences.

Did they mention anything about out of state visitors from states included in DeSantis’ Executive Orders which require travelers from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Louisiana to self-quarantine at their Florida destination for 14-days or the duration of their stay, whichever is shorter? So we can go, but sit in a hotel room? And of course, if such a visitor is caught not in self-quarantine they face a second-degree misdemeanor which includes a fine of $500 or up to 60 days in jail. :headache:

We are going back to going about our lives. What is wrong with opening businesses but with social distancing in place? People want businesses to reopen but don't want the safety measures put in place. :(

Before we get frustrated and put on our tin foil hats remember the CDC is working with ever evolving data. Very early death rates were completely based on Chinese numbers. As time has passed and the infection spread data was gathered from other areas as well. This of course increases accuracy.

Anyone know how to check to see if my pass has been extended yet? Another poster yesterday said they had luck and that it was extended by 4 months instead of just 2. I also can't find out if my Sea World pass has been bumped up to the next level, but I can at least find on my profile where it shows my current AP (no upgrade showing up)

Then what is your issue with what they are doing? Unless you think we shouldn't have shutdown at all

Back in March I was fine with shutting down. But not for this long. I was even furious with DeSantis for not shutting down things

My problems are this.

The fear mongering the media has done, its obvious by now this virus is not close to as deadly as they were making it out to be. The media was screaming Florida was going to end up worse then NYC or Italy because DeSantis took forever to shutdown. That never happened.

The moving of the goalposts. All we heard in March was the shutdown was for flattening the curve and not overwhelm the hospitals. 99% didn't. We achieved our goal. The hospitals are 10x more prepared now than they were in March. But now people are wanting to stay shutdown til there's a cure?!

We have done more damage to our country by shutting down for over 2 months then this virus did.

Also we're making policies based off shaky evidence at best. We're letting scientists make policies thats just not applicable to real world. They're not leaders, not economist.

Should we shutdown every winter because thousands of people die from the regular flu every year? Do we not care about their lives? Should we ban driving because of all the people they die from car accidents each year? Why don't their lives matter? What about the people they will die indirectly from this? Will their lives not matter?

There is a small minority that think that. Most are in agreement of opening things but with social distancing measures in place. The problem arises in that too many don't want to follow the rules which includes wearing masks. Which you have been against.

Yes it may not be as deadly but it still is a more serious then the flu. You still can get seriously sick which is why the need to keep groups low and keep physical distancing.

I for one hope Universal strictly enforces all the rules put in place as it's for everyones health.

I'm not sure where people believe that Covid 19 is not as deadly as the flu. Raw numbers show that Covid 19 is much more deadly than the flu.

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/index.html
For 2018/2019 flu season the CDC estimated that approx. 35 million Americans got the flu, and estimated it resulted in ~ 34k deaths.

So far for Covid 19, we have ~95k deaths in 3-4 months and counting. And let's make a "guestimate" that the number of people in the US that have had Covid 19 is 10x the reported number (since testing has been limited). And that's with months of heavy societal shut down (with the estimates having been 2+ million deaths if no actions were taken).

I don't think people are saying to stay shut down until there is a cure. But many are saying we should be easing the re-opening at a slower pace. Looking at all of the case data across the US, most states have flattened the curve, but cases are "steady" as opposed to being on the decline. Many have argued to stay more cautious with the re-opening and do it slower so cases can decrease. I'm not seeing an overall decrease happening yet so the fear is with opening up too early, things will increase again. Time will tell.

It varies based on how one defines "damage".

I don't know of a single scientist who has made the policy. They have given their input on what should be done to the politicians, and the politicians have then made the policy. As for "shaky" evidence, I would rather term it "ever changing evidence". What is being learned about the virus is changing almost daily so recommendations can only be made on best known info at a given point in time.

I liken it to a hurricane. We see one off the coast of Florida and based on its "current" path and intensity, scientists will give recommendations to the politicians of what might happen. Based on a given bit of info, the politicians might give the order to evacuate. Sometimes people evacuate and then the hurricane changes course or intensity and doesn't hit landfall or hits with much less intensity. And some people will follow direction and evacuate, then complain after the fact because they felt they did it for nothing because the storm didn't hit like it was predicted. Or on the flip side some will not evacuate, and the storm does hit (or hits worse than previously predicted) and the results are devastating.

In the end it's a no-win situation, you can only do as best as possible given what's known at a given point in time.

On the middle point about scientist.. I been bringing up Ohio a lot on here because outside of my state of Florida, it's the other state I keep up with the most. Was born in Ohio, Ohio st fan, family there, etc. Belong to many Ohio forums where I get this data. Dr Amy Acton has definitely been calling all the shots in that state and has DeWine wrapped around her finger.. No doubt in my mind she got a taste of power and doesn't want to give it up

Any news on Volcano Bay and mask wearing? I get wearing a mask if not in the water, but half of the time you're walking from the pool to the slide. Your chair to the pool. You can't wear a mask "in between" those points without getting one wet.

ETA Nevermind. I just got an email update and it has more details about when and how to wear required masks.
