The decision to say you didn't need to wear a mask (which was 5-6 months ago) was a bad one. I do believe it was a decision made with the best intention (to make sure masks were available for health workers/first responders). But the mantra for MONTHS has been wear masks, wash your hands, and socially distance. If you've been hearing differently (from reputable people), you may want to change who you listen to.

There are memes floating around comparing wearing a mask to wearing a bra. Although I've never worn a bra, I wonder how many who say masks are "too uncomfortable" would stop wearing bras.

As far as surgeons wearing masks for very long surgeries I’m sure they have ones that are a lot better then the flimsy paper ones we have to wear. They other day I had one thst felt like it was sprayed on the inside sort of like wall paper waste but not the heavy. As I was trying to breath it got even stickier and harder to breath.

He is saying that based on the usual way that vaccines work and their ability to give you immunity. What he was saying was that, if you get the vaccine, there is still a chance it won't work for you... a mask will always work for you if everyone is wearing them in public spaces.

Another person running their mouth and then in another month will say something else. Scary part is how many people think that masks should never go away ever is what worries me more.

People may say that now, but as soon as this virus is a thing of the past, the masks will go away too. I'm pretty sure no one I have talked to wants to wear them forever.

I haven't worn a paper mask yet. There are plenty of cloth masks to purchase (either online or in stores) and lots of instructions online on how to make your own.

Why would you wear a mask that felt like it had been sprayed on the inside? We are 6+ months into this, do you not have any extra masks on hand?

No one has to wear a particular kind of mask. Not all paper or cloth masks for that matter are the same material, fit and comfort level. Most people have attempted to find ones that work better for them in a trial and error situation.

I fully recognize masks are just not very fun honestly. But you've consistently over the months commented about masks and continue to post erroneous information. I truly think you have the best intentions at heart but at the same time I'm a bit concerned for you as well. I hope you're trying to find the mask that fits you the best. Don't be afraid to seek out different materials, different sizes, different ways of attaching the mask be it ear loops straps that go around your head, ribbon that you can tie yourself, pleated ones, cone shaped ones, stretchy fabric ones, cotton ones, different brands of disposable/one-time use masks, etc

Is someone making you wear a paper one? Buy yourself couple nice cloth ones and stop whining.

The way I took Redfield's comment was that the vaccine is not going to be super-effective. We won't get something like a measles vaccine. Even if we are "lucky" enough to get a 50% efficacy, we don't know how long it will last and how many people will even get enough antibodies. Based on that, everyone masking up is still better protection. It's a sad reality, but I prefer the honest, hard truth so I can mentally prep for it.

I believe we will be seeing him backtrack on this comment. The President said yesterday he spoke to the director after this comment and the director stated he may have misunderstood, etc., the question. The flip flopping back and forth makes me dizzy. All I know is I NEED A CRUISE

My first question is, what behavior might they be trying to motivate? I'm guessing they're afraid once they start vaccinating *some* people, they are concerned lots of people will stop wearing masks, whether they have been vaccinated or not.

Good point. When those vaccinations become available it'll be "game on" for people resuming normal activity. The attitude among many will be "I got the shot, I'm done with this crap."
