Man Card Revoked!!

Ummm, dude, DisDads club...Disney for Families Forum...

You'll fit right in.....you are not alone...:rotfl2:

Come on over and hang out with like-minded Dads -

The current DisDads Club thread is here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2439511

And we also have our (sporadically active) own little Dads' clubhouse at http://www.disdads.com/

After two years I have never seen that thread before, thanks for the heads up. I know about it now. :thumbsup2

Not only are you not the only one, I honestly don't even get why it's a big deal. To the point that the humor of the card and the changing of the name plate is completely lost on me and actually comes off condescending and insulting instead.

Same here. What the heck does Disney planning have to do with being a man? Did we slip back to 1954 when I wasn't looking?

I could only wish my DH loved Disney as much as you! He usually goes, acts like he cares for about 2 hours or so, then heads back to the hotel.......kinda makes me feel bad for bit but then I perk right up and party hardy with my girls!!!! They don't even love it as much as I do! What is wrong with them!!! :confused3:lovestruc:banana::laughing::rotfl:

I wish I could revoke DH's man card. I did convince him to buy us DVC so I guess that kinda counts.

Ok everyone, I officially have had my "man card" revoked. :rotfl:

Am I the only man who just before his trip scans every website he can to see all the pictures of WDW, surf all the trip reports here on the DIS, go to Youtube and watch endless videos of the rides?

I'm the one who spends all the time on the DIS in our house. I'm the one who books the trips, does all the research, makes out the itineraries, plans out the ADR's, and every other aspect of our trips. Don't get me wrong, my DW and DD are nuts about WDW, but I guess I'm the only one who is what I'd call "fanatic". Perhaps it's because growing up we never had the money to go to WDW? I'm not sure, but I know I'm addicted.

Ladies (and other men who do this), am I normal? My employee's don't get it. They gave me a humorous card (in good taste) that showed a man having his man card revoked. They also put a new name plate on my desk with Mrs. on it with my last name. So much for the third quarter bonus's they were getting. :lmao:

I'm sorry all, my name is Goofy4prez, yes I'm a man who loves WDW, and I'm an unrecoverable addict. Only 9 more days.

Google Earth on the iPad is awesome for looking at WDW pics.

I mean, I heard it's awesome. ;)

Another guy here who is a Disney nut. I do all of the planning, keep spreadsheets, and contantly tweak things. I'm always checking rumor sites, looking at pictures, and listening to park music.

And I also converted DW and DS, so we're a family of Disney nuts, leaving in less than a month.

Another DisDad here to offer support. Don't worry, your Man Card is still valid. In fact, continuing to wave the Disney banner in the face of mocking and ridicule makes you even more manly.:woohoo: Could nearly 500 DisDads be wrong?:confused3

+1 - Those posers need their mancard revoked. Another DisDad here, I stay on the DIS off and on all day, all of my coworkers are guys and they don't think nothing of it.

Of course I also frequent AR15.com and Sports forums and carry a concealed weapon (9mm) daily. :rotfl2:

While my DW loves Disney and the kiddos love it too, I do probably spend more time on it than them. I research the trips, book the ADRs, etc.
I have a few web sites that I hit every morning and DisBoards is usually the first one, followed by SI.com. Sometimes when I am at home watching tv (sportscenter, baseball, etc) I will pull out the iphone and jump on the Lines App. If that means taking away my man card, so be it!!

To reinstate your man card, make sure you play punk rock and/or death metal REALLY loud when surfing Disney sites. Or listen to Howard Stern. Or just burp a lot. You'll get back in the club, eventually.

Gosh, I wish my DH was like you all. I cannot even get him interested!! He doesn't go with me and the grandkids each year. He is always working and when he isn't on the weekends, he is on his stupid boat fishing. When we were both growing up, we didn't have vacations as a family and so I look forward to these yearly trips. He could care less. There have many arguments and hurt feelings because of this. Thank heaven, I have my grandkids.

I'm a male fan too!

When it's a family trip I do the planning. But why wait for the family trips when I can go solo and see it all!!!!

Visiting the Fairies was the highlight of one of my trips. I still get autographs with the characters. I get misty eyed seeing the castle at night. I love WDW!

But in my own defense I'm really happy to spend a day watching the Off Kileter and British Invasion shows while I stop for a drink at the pub between shows.

My DH makes fun of me doing much the same thing, but when we get there he always turns to me and asks, "What are we doing for lunch? What's that construction over there? What ride do we do next?"

So he likes that I "know all things Disney" but he doesn't want to admit it!

Same here. DH doesn't tease me, but he doesn't research anything for our trips and doesn't even look at this site. BUT, he always asks me where we are eating, which day we should do what, etc. He had a ball helping me look for the antique phone, the names on the windows, and the lessons you can hear on Main Street.

I dont see why they would think your man card should be revoked! My DH doesnt sit on the boards or anything but he is in on all the planning and LOVES WDW as much as I do. Ppl who think its unmanly just dont get WDW and that its not just for kids! Have a great trip!

41 year old Dad here. We took family last year to the World for 7 days, and I got hooked. I got it so bad that instead of looking at other things / places to go for a family vacation, I started thinking / planning on going back again this year.

But then my kids brought be back to reality. They had a blast at Disney..but want to see otherthings as well..like Mt Rushmore or the mountains.

So I am trying to break the hold Disney has on me. I grew up on watching the Walt Disney show on Sunday nights..and seeing the castle in person for the 1st time was surreal.

So..no i don't think you man card was taken away..it has just been placed in storage for a while :)

Man, I wish my DH was more enthusiastic about all things Disney. He enjoys it enough when we're there but is in no way a Disney-holic. I am, however, raising 3 boys, 2 of which are old enough to understand and get as excited as me. They'll make their Disney lovin' wives proud one day! ;)

Hang on to your card. Being the Disney freak in my family hasen't changed anything, I'm still a beer swilling, cigar smoking, Bambi hunting, belching, f@rting, scratching man. I recall when the test on manhood was quiche', as in, 'Real men don't eat quiche'', to which I used to reply, 'Real men eat any d@mn thing we want', and if we want Key Lime pie in WDW, who's to argue with that.
