DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

I needed 300 months of service to retire. I have 301 months and 16 days.

And that's all folks!!!

Hey, now that you retired, what you gonna do next?

I'm dropping $3K on APs.

Now, just have to make FP+ and hope Disney doesn't cancel me for the NBA.

I'm on the congrats side. It isn't when I wanted to go, but it's still the same end result. Scheduled my last date far enough out to burn a month of sick time if we return from furlough.

Congratulations to you then. I'm jealous as I have been at it longer than you but I still like my job when I get to actually do it. The hoop jumping, grant writing, money chasing, justifying my existence I could do without.

Hope you can convince your better half to relocate south sooner rather than later.

And No IPA's...
I agree with you on that and yet it is part of my job to help all the hop growers.

'Morning all...
Should be a good day for doing all the work that you can't do while you're working.

Well actually...
Working form home does allow one some time to take care of other jobs while you're not tied down to an office desk and being monitored by the overlords, but still...

We missed you stats. I was so distraught, I retired.
Somehow, I suspect that I was not the main factor in that decision.
Sorry to hear of how it went down, but congratulations on the new life direction. May it be the best path for you.

And No IPA's...
OK, now I'm with you.
They may be in fashion, but bitterness just for the sake of proving that you can tolerate bitterness ain't all that refreshing.

Morning, folks.
These night shifts aren't getting any shorter. Still... three (almost) done, one to go before days off.
Have a good Saturday, folks. I plan to sleep mine away.
Good night...

Or would that be Good Day?

Ehh,
Happy Unconsciousness!

Morning all. The sun seems a bit brighter today.

Nicely done. :)

Thanks.

Congrats, I think, and best of luck. Hoping all of us that make ADRs and FP can actually get into the parks we schedule these things for considering reduced capacity

FP+ made. ADR made. Flights. It's all for Disney now. I had already expressed my concern that they were pricing people out of the market. Their response now will be telling. If they cancel the July trip to add in the NBA, then I'm probably done. I'll stay at Vero Beach Resort with my points, and maybe drive in to go to a Park one day. Or, we could stay at WDW and go to Universal.

Congratulations!!!

Thanks.

Thanks. There was no upside for me staying, as it is just going to be the whim of a politician or bureaucrat for cuts with no chance for anything else. We have 2 more years before youngest graduates. DW isn't leaving here as long as her parents are alive. And, once our children settle here, she definitely won't go. So, it's my dream, and that's where it stays.

Somehow, I suspect that I was not the main factor in that decision.

You could have just went with it. Thanks.

Congratulations on the retirement Norm, enjoy now that every day is Saturday

Thanks. I already have another job though, so I won't get to roll like our CBO.

Morning, Gents! Been busy the last few days at work. I wound up in the warehouse for most of the week. Thursday I got to play around on the forklift for most of morning, so that was fun. Outside that it was a typical work week. Friday was a half-day, and the only reason we were there was to receive FedEx, UPS and other cargo delivery trucks, so outside that we really didn't need to be there as nothing was going on. Been helping friends this week in the evenings. He and his DW hired a moving company for of their stuff, but I've been helping him move all of his books, of which he has over 15,000. Yes, 15,000 books. He buys and sells books on EBay and does it out of his basement. Sometimes he'll give me a few books for helping him out, so I make out every time I help him. Outside that I plan on relaxing this weekend.

Thanks.

I use to use Photobucket. Over the years thee kept giving more storage space for free and I had pictures from about 15 trips stored there. Then the started asking for money or told me to remove pictures to get back to the free limit. I told them I refused to pay for something they game me for free. I told them I would gladly download all my pictures but then they took away the ability to download albums and required that you do it one picture at a time. A few months ago they finally allowed multiple downloads so I took them all off of Photobucket and told them to delete my account.

I do have a pro Flickr account that I don't mind paying for because I wasn't forced into it. I also put some albums up on Face book.

I'd forgotten about Flickr...thanks for reminding me.

Just have way too many photos to wade through to pick a top 3, so I picked my favourites from the last trip.
Couldn't narrow it down to 3, so you get 4.

Great pics, man.

Well since I don’t have work for the near future I’m going to take the opportunity to enjoy life as much as I can.
I’ve always wanted a fire pit but I live in suburbia with houses all around, so I just never bothered. Life is too short, so I just said screw it and I went out yesterday and picked up one of those small fire bowls. We’ll only use it to roast a couple marshmallows anyway. Looking forward to it tonight.

Nice! That'll be nice to use on cool evenings.

A friend suggested that since graduations can't happen inside or outside, we should have the graduates all march through WalMart, Lowes, or the liquor store and have their names announced over the speaker.

😆

so... are congratulations in order or condolences?
This morning at work, a woman who's worked there for years (almost 44!) decided to take advantage of a retirement incentive package the company offered. She told me she'd put in for it today. I just heard, about four hours ago, that today was her last day!
I'm not sure if she's happy or not.

Almost 44 years?! Wow! Some people love doing what they do and don't want to retire. Then again, some people just love working.

Morning, boys.
Got just over an hour to go before the work day is over, and lemme tell ya, I'm dying to get some sleep.
Ran another 3K yesterday and while it hurt, it wasn't as bad as the last few runs. And even better, I'm not limping and in a lot of pain today (some... but not much.)
So, maybe I'm turning a corner on that? I sure hope so. I also don't know how I'm gonna get from 3K to the 5K the program wants me to run in another week.
Then again, I never dreamed I'd be able, at my age and fitness level, to be able to run for more than a minute without having to stop and suck air.

That's great on the 3K!

'Morning all...
I do believe that I've been just a mite AWOL for the past little bit.
Y'all mind if I start dropping by again every once and a while?

So...
What'd I miss while I was away?

Welcome back!

Prefer nice is for WWII flicks and those with John Wayne but like Dirty Dozen, Great Escape

The 1976 Midway movie with Charlton Heston. Great movie. Watch it every time it's on TV.

Oh, I'll eat them, but if there is something else, like a frankfurter, I'll take that. And No IPA's...

Don't like IPA's either. I like Yuengling's Tradition Lager and Heinekin.

Morning All.

Beautiful morning. It motivated me to get in an early 5K run. Well that and the fact that now the rest of the day can be used for relaxation.

Enjoy the day all!

OK, now I'm with you.

Not all IPAs are bitter. It did seem for awhile that craft brewers were trying to see who could make the hopiest beer but most seemed to have moved past that now.

Morning from a sunny Westfield NB. Planning on a relaxed day, swimming, Bbq and a few socialables. :drinking1 :drinking1

Don't forget to wait an hour after eating before getting in the pool.

 SWMBO and I like books but we don't have that many and are decreasing them. All it takes is a few moves, and books, LPs and other heavy things become less desirable.

Holy crap. Quite the sideline. I've never heard that before. He have a website?

Yup. That was her, although she did say she was probably going to next year.
That's great on the 3K!
Thanks. :) Next up... adding 3 more minutes. We'll see if I survive.

Great show. Saw it in the theatre when it was released in "Surround Sound". Pretty awesome experience.
Beautiful morning. It motivated me to get in an early 5K run.
Annnnnd…. a little part of me died.

I love mornings, especially in the summer. I've been known to get up and get my gardening done by 7 am, which leaves the rest of the day for photography and other goofing off type stuff, so an early morning run sounds like a good time to go running.

If you have a couple of names of some good IPA's I'd love to try them.

 SWMBO and I like books but we don't have that many and are decreasing them. All it takes is a few moves, and books, LPs and other heavy things become less desirable.

And this isn't the first time I've helped him move....though I hope it's the last. I started collecting a bunch of books then decided to get a Nook, and used it for new books for collections I didn't already have going. At some point you run out of places to put books.

Holy crap. Quite the sideline. I've never heard that before. He have a website?

It's become quite the thing for him. I know he'd love to have a store front, but for now, he's sells on EBay under Theresa's Bookshelf.

:thumbsup2

I told my doctor I wanted to start jogging again, he told me, "Please don't, Steven, I know your ankles." Only time I had a doctor tell me to not run.

Great show. Saw it in the theatre when it was released in "Surround Sound". Pretty awesome experience.

I'd love to see it on the big screen.

Annnnnd…. a little part of me died.

Yep, right there with ya.

So let's see...
Got about 4 hours of sleep today. Went shopping real quick. Then went and ran 3.5K in 27C/81F weather. Just about killed me.
How bad is my pace, Dan? I did that in 28 minutes.
The program (C25K) wants me to do two more runs of 28 (and assumes I'm doing about 4.5K!!) and then do the 5K. No way that's realistic. I'm thinking of doing the two more 28 minutes, then doing 3 of 30 or 31. See where that is. Maybe just keep increasing it every 4th run by .5K or so?

Thanks, I'll take a look. Not sure if he ships up here, though.

 I need that doctor!

it was like I was there. No lie.

Morning y'all.
Lazy Sunday. Jack all on today. Went for a run early doors, as I think the weather s taking a brief turn for the worse today. The panels I drew up for the boy's arcade cabinet are ready, so got to do some last minute shopping for cabinet screws and mounts and all that stuff.

All it takes is a few moves, and books, LPs and other heavy things become less desirable.
I sold my decks and my vinyl just after the boy was born. I enjoyed the money, but I wish I'd kept them now.

I think I react against it more due to a bunch of people in my circles who are hardcore distance runners, it's mostly all they talk about,
I know a few cycling guys like that. Cycling has turned into what Golf was in the 80s/90s over here.
Top 5 characters you would like to have a drink with at DaWorld and at what location / watering hole?

Tiana at Homecomin' (there's a Friday night joke in there somewhere)
Live action Belle at Enchanted Rose Lounge (and there would be some live action)
Jessica at Victoria and Alberts (she one Classy Lady)
Elizabeth Swann at Trader Sams
Jenny Blake from the Rocketeer in Jock Lindsays (I can't believe I didn't notice those Bristols when I was younger)

Jasmine - my room
Mr Incredible - Dawa
Donald - Dawa
Mickey - Dawa
Jessica Rabbit - my room

- with Thanks to @declansdad!!!
Detention for you Chief. No copying homework.
And your Hall Pass is revoked. I have no idea what this means, I've just seen it on John Hughes movies.
Now, just have to make FP+ and hope Disney doesn't cancel me for the NBA.
Without live sport mate, I'd even watch you shoot hoops.
No It's Not! I have spoken.
Me neither. And, way to make an official CBO ruling.
This is how dictatorships start. Rules made without consultation. Hold on a minute Norm, which side of this argument are you on? ;)
Prefer nice is for WWII flicks and those with John Wayne
I'm really gonna put my tin hat on but......

I've never seen a John Wayne movie.

I know. It's been nice knowing you chaps. I'll get my coat.

Sometimes he'll give me a few books for helping him out, so I make out every time I help him
Do they have pictures in? Otherwise I'm out.

After 4 hours sleep and in 81? Well done for going in the first place, my man.
Its about a 12:50 mi pace, which is 3:10 quicker than the sweep pace at a Disney Marathon. Jus' sayin'. :thumbsup2

Whatever makes you comfortable. I would think at this point (depending on how you feel today) you could notch up to 4, do that for lets say Tues, Thurs and 4.5 on Sun for a week, then do 2 more @4.5 on Tues & Thur (maybe 5 on Thursday with the last .5 as a walk) and then hit 5 a week on Sunday. I don't really know C25 that much, is it trying to get you to do a 30m 5k? Really mate, don't stress about pace. I would get the miles in your legs and then work on pace, because at that point your body and your mind know they can hit the line, and then you push when you feel good (TWSS).
I've been known to get up and get my gardening done by 7 am,
If that involved a mower and you lived near me, there would be one less vote on the Double Secret Probation committee that would be coming your way, my friend.

'ave a great Sunday chaps. May your Beverage glass be full and your job list be empty.

Morning, folks.
Once again, just under an hour to go. Then home, breakfast, the Sunday paper (the only one I buy... it has a few things in it that online doesn't), then sleep.

I've never seen a John Wayne movie.

I know. It's been nice knowing you chaps. I'll get my coat.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Woot!

Good plan. Although I don't know if I can do that many in a row. I've done 3K/3K/3.5K with only 1 day in between... and my hip joints are really sore. Geez, it's always something. Just once it'd be nice to run and not hurt after. But I do like the idea of ramping up .5 at a time instead of "You did 3.5 today? Great! Do 5 now."

Restaurants opened at 33% capacity, so went out last night to celebrate being released from house arrest. We went to the Miller House, a local place that features the bourbon bar in the basement, with 100 bourbons from around the world.

Thanks. 15000 books is a lot. I never had that many, but donated mine over time to the library for a tax deduction. Now, I'm wondering if all these devices were really worth it after all. I think I enjoy reading an actual paper or actual book moreso.

 SWMBO and I like books but we don't have that many and are decreasing them. All it takes is a few moves, and books, LPs and other heavy things become less desirable.

We built this house almost 20 years ago (next month) and haven't moved. I'm the anti-hoarder for the most part.

Without live sport mate, I'd even watch you shoot hoops.

I've never seen a John Wayne movie.

I know. It's been nice knowing you chaps. I'll get my coat.

How about we just stick to tennis. I've seen quite a few John Wayne movies, but I prefer the Clint Eastwood westerns.

You’re able to write after 100 bourbons???

::yes::

Morning all.

Another beautiful day shaping up. I think I will relax and watch the Monaco GP, nope it's still a virtual race. Maybe the Indy 500, not happening until August you say..crap. Well Nascar still has the Coca Cola 600, looks like might night is set.

Enjoy your Sunday all.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to watch the Quiet Man. John's favorite movie he made and mine too.
An excellent choice. Nobody other than Maureen O'Hara and the Duke know what she whispered to him at the end of the movie that got a shocked look from him before they headed off to the cottage. It was unscripted and they never told anyone.

I've enjoyed most of his movies. The High and the Mighty is another excellent choice. His westerns are mostly excellent though I never understood the appeal of The Searchers. Clint Eastwood westerns are of a different sort; watchable though I can't stand High Plains Drifter and there are a few others I haven't seen like Bronco Billy and Joe Kidd.
